제주지역에서 질소시비량 차이에 따른 양마의 생육특성, 수량 및 조성분 변화 (Effect of Nitrogen Rate on Agronomic characteristics, Forage Yield and Chemical Composition of Kenaf on Jeju Island)

  • In order to determine the influence of nitrogen on agronomic characters, forage yield and quality, a Kenaf was cultured on the volcanic ash soil at the Experimental Farm of Cheju national University under the seven levels of nitrogen rates(0, 50, 100, 150, 200, 250kg/ha) from April 25 to Dec. 25, 1999. The plant height increased by increase of nitrogen rate, showing longest 250kg/ha with 286.6cm and shortest at no application plot with 255.7cm. The difference on leaf number, leaf withering number, stem diameter and branches number by nitrogen rate showed a similar tendency to the plant height. Increasing N rate from 0 to 250kg/ha fresh forage yield form 55.8 to 99.8MT/ha, dry matter (DM) yield from 8.8 to 15.8MT/ha, crude protein(CP) yield form 1.2 to 3.1MT/ha, total digestible nutrients (TDN) yield from 3.8 to 8.6MT/ha. However, no significant differences in these yields were found between 200 and 250kg N/ha. Nitrogen uptake increased form 192.9 to 496.2 kg/ha but N use efficiency decreased form 95.0 to 66.6 kg DM$^{a}$ /kg N with increasing from 0 to 250 kg/ha. As N rate increased from 0 to 250kg/ha, leaf and stem out of CP, crude fat (CF), nitrogen free extract (NFE), TDN contents increased from 20.1% to 25.8% and from 9.7% to 12.4%, from 5.6% to 8.1% and from 3.3% to 4.4%, from 36.1% to 40.2% and from 21.9% to 32.4%, from 59.3% to 75.0% and from 32.2% to 38.2%, respectively, while leaf and stem out of crude fiber decreased from 18.5% to 16.7% and from 51.5% to 39.3%. Based on the these findings, the optimum N rate for forage production of kenaf seems to be about 200 kg/ha in atmospheric phenomena and volcanic ash soils of jeju island.

Effect of Lactic Acid Bacteria Inoculation on Fermentation Characteristics of Whole Crop Barley Silage

  • An experiment was carried out to determine the homofermentative activity of Lactobacillus plantarum KCC-10 and KCC-19 on the ensiling of whole crop barley (WCB). The crude protein in the silages was slightly higher in the KCC-10 and KCC-19 treatments compared to the control, but there was no significant difference between the two inoculant-treated silages. Nutrient parameters such as acid detergent fiber, neutral detergent fiber and in vitro dry matter digestibility in L. plantarum KCC-10 and KCC-19 treated silages did not differ from those in the control silage. The lactic acid content increased in KCC-10 and KCC-19 treated silage when compared with the control silage but the contents of acetic acid and butyric acid produced in KCC-10 and KCC-19 treated silages were similar with the control silage. Further, the number of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) in KCC-10 treated silage demonstrated a significant increase when compared to the control. Especially, KCC-19 treated silage showed greater lactic acid bacterial growth potential. Other microbes such as yeast and fungi were not detected in KCC-10 and KCC-19 treated WCB silages. Hence, this study suggests that the addition of L. Plantarum KCC-10 and KCC-19 to the WCB silage can improve fermentation quality for the production of high-quality silage.

Effect of Location, Year and Variety on Forage Yield and Quality of Winter Rye

  • The objective of this experiment was to determine agronomic characteristics, and forge yield and quality responses of rye variety to location and year for a double-cropping system in South Korea. Five forage rye varieties ('Koolgrazer', 'Jlee select', '9909', 'Homill22', 'Danko') were evaluated for forage quality and yields during the two growing years (the First year; 2001-2002, and the Second year; 2002-2003) at two locations (the central and southern zone). The heading date of rye in the central zone (Cheonan) was 15 April, and that of the southern zone (Daegu) was 10 April. The heading dates of 'Koolgrazer', 'Jlee select' and '9909' were earlier than those of the others. Although the five varieties had resistance to foliar diseases and insects, these had less lodging resistance. Dry matter (DM) content, DM and total digestible nutrients (TDN) yields had significant differences among rye varieties. DM and TDN yields of the rye varieties at the second year were higher than the first year in the central zone. In the southern zone, DM and TDN yields at the first year were lower than the second year. 'Jlee select' and '9909' had higher DM and TDN yields than the other varieties in both location and year except the first year of the central zone (p<0.001). The crude protein (CP) contents of rye grown in Cheonan were higher than Daegu. The CP content of 'Danko' variety was highest among tested varieties. The acid detergent fiber (ADF) and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) contents were greater for the varieties grown in Cheonan and in the second year. The ADF and NDF contents of 'Danko' were lowest, while 'Danko' in TDN and relative feed value (RFV) was highest among rye varieties. Our study showed that there are differences in forage production and quality from location to location, year to year and variety to variety. Therefore, forage quality and forage production are an important factor for screening forage rye varieties. Early maturing varieties should be recommended as high-yielding forage in a double-cropping system because their production of forage was greatest early in the season.

파종기와 파종량이 사료용 호밀의 생육특성 , 월동성 및 건물수량에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Sowing Time and Seeding Rate on Growth Chrcteristics, Winter Survival and Dry Matter Yield of Forage Rye (SeCale cereale L.))

  • 본 시험은 사초용(飼草用) 호밀의 파종기와 파종량이 사초(飼草)의 생육특성, 월동성 및 수량에 미치는 영향을 구명(究明)하기 위하여 서울대(大) 농대(農大) 사초시험포장(飼草試驗圃場)에서 수행되었다. 본 시험에서 호밀의 파종기(播種期)를 9월 8일, 9월28일, 10월18일로 하고 ha당 파종량(播種量)을 80, 130 및 180kg로 하여 9처리(處理) 3반복(反復) 난괴법으로 실시하였다. 호밀의 초장(草長)은 파종기(播種期)에 의하여 영향을 받지 않았으나 9월8일 파종구에서 가을에 수확을 하였을 때와 10월18일 파종구에서 파종량(播種量)이 증가됨에 따라 초장(草長)도 길어지는 경향을 보여주었다. 9월8일 파종구는 가을철 수확으로 인하여 월동률(越冬率)이 저하(低下)되었으나 총건물수량(總乾物收量)은 오히려 가을철 수확으로 증가(增加)되었다. 파종기에 따른 평균건물수량(平均乾物收量)은 9월8일 파종구가 ha당 5884kg, 9월28일 파종구가 4993kg, 10월18일 파종구가 3525kg였다. 호밀의 건물수량(乾物收量)은 파종기가 늦어짐에 따라 저하(低下)되었으나 파종량이 증가됨에 따라 증가(增加)되는 경향이었다. 특히 파종량에 따른 건물수량의 차이는 9월8일과 9월28일 파종구에서 보다는 10월18일 파종구에서 현저히 컸다. 본 시험결과를 종합할 때 우리나라의 중부지방에서 밭에 풋베기 호밀을 파종할 경우 조파(早播)하는 것이 수량(收量)이 많았으며 만파(晩播)할 경우 파종량(播種量)을 증가하는 것이 수량이 많았다.

Effects of Ensiling Period and Bacterial Inoculants on Chemical Compositions and Fermentation Characteristics of Rye Silage

  • The present study was aimed to estimate the effect of ensiling period and bacterial inoculants on chemical compositions and fermentation characteristics on rye silage harvested at delayed stage. Rye (Secale cereale L.) was harvested after 20 days of heading stage (29.4% dry matter, DM). The harvested rye forage was applied with different inoculants following: applications of distilled water (CON), Lactobacillus brevis (LBB), Leuconostoc holzapfelii (LCH), or mixture of LBB and LCH at 1:1 ratio (MIX). Each forage was ensiled into 20 L mini bucket silo (5 kg) for 50 (E50D) and 100 (E100D) days in triplicates. The E50D silages had higher in vitro digestibilities of DM (IVDMD, p<0.001) and neutral detergent fiber (IVNDFD, p=0.013), and lactate (p=0.009), and acetate (p=0.011) than those of E100D, but lower pH, lactic acid bacteria (LAB), and yeast. By inoculant application, LCH had highest IVDMD and IVNDFD (p<0.05), while MIX had highest lactate and lowest pH (p<0.05). The CON and LCH in E50D had highest LAB and yeast (p<0.05), whereas LBB in E100D had lowest (p<0.05). Therefore, this study concluded that LCH application improved the nutrient digesbility (IVDMD and IVNDFD) of lignified rye silage, and longer ensiling period for 100 days enhanced the fermentation characteristics of silage compared to ensiling for 50 days.

사일리지의 연간급여와 사료성분의 안정성 (Year-long Feeding of Silage and Stability of Feed Quality)

  • This experiment was conducted to investigate chemical composition change and fermentation characteristics of orchardgrass, alfalfa or corn silage in the airtight silo for one year of storage. Two trials were conducted for two years. Fermentation characteristics of silages were evaluated by color, oder, texture and taste. Chemical composition of corn silage was not changed, and fermentation characteristics of this silage was favorable for 7 months of storage from December to June of the following year. In the aspect of dry matter loss and fermentation characteristics of silages, it is essential to maintain less than 70 or 60% of moisture contents in orchardgrass silage or alfalfa silage, respectively, for long term storage and feed quality stabilization. It is suggested that wilting treatment of orchardgrass or alfalfa and moisture contents of these silages are most important factors to determine silage quality.

안산천에서 청보리 혼파조합이 사초 생산성과 토양 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Barley Mixtures on Forage Production and Soil Characteristics in Dry Riverbed of Ansancheon)

  • 하천부지에서 청보리와 월년생 두과작물을 혼파하여 사초 생산성과 토양 특성을 조사하였다. 안산천 하천부지에서는 청보리와 헤어리베치의 혼파조합이 다른 조합보다 건물 및 TDN 수량이 많았다. 그러나 수확 시 건물률은 청보리 단파가 가장 높았으며, 혼파조합 중에서는 청보리와 크림손클로버 조합이 다른 조합보다 높았다. 혼파조합의 조단백질 함량은 청보리와 헤어리베치 조합이 가장 높았으나 조지방과 TDN 함량은 가장 낮았다. 조사료 생산에 포함된 수질오염물질의 제거량은 청보리와 헤어리베치 조합이 유기물과 인산 모두에서 유의적으로 높았다(P<0.05). 안산천에서 청보리 혼파조합의 토양특성은 질소 고정능력이 우수한 청보리와 헤어리베치 조합이 다른 조합보다 토양의 전질소(TN) 함량이 높았다. 반면 토양의 유기물 함량은 청보리 단파가 가장 많고, 혼파조합 중에서는 청보리와 크림손 클로버 조합이 유기물 함량이 높았다. 토양의 유효인산 함량은 청보리와 크림손 클로버 및 유채 조합이 높고, 청보리와 헤어리 베치 조합은 낮았다. 토양의 CEC 함량은 청보리와 헤어리 베치 조합은 우수하였다. 이상의 결과를 종합해 볼 때 청보리와 헤어리베치 조합이 사초 생산성이 우수하고, 조단백질 함량이 높고, 토양의 인산 함량이 낮아 하천변의 환경개선에도 효과적인 것으로 판단되었다.

조사료원과 출하시기가 거세한우의 발육과 도체특성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Forage Source and Shipping Time on Growth Performance and Carcass Characteristics of Hanwoo Steers)

  • 본 시험을 수행하기 위해서 6개월령 거세한 우 64두를 공시하여 주구는 조사료원으로 목건초와 볏짚 처리구를 배치하였으며, 세구는 출하시기로 24개월, 26개월, 28개월 및 30개월 배치하였다. 본 시험은 조사료원 및 출하시기별 발육 및 육질에 미치는 영향을 구명하기 위하여 수행하였다. 발육 및 사료이용성은 목건초 급여구가 볏짚 급여구에 비하여 동일 출하월령에서 10~12% 정도 더 발육이 향상되었으며(p<0.05), 배합사료 요구량에서도 목건초 급여 구가 볏짚 급여구에 비하여 kg 증체당이 향상 되는 결과를 얻었다. 또한 도체등급에서도 등 지방두께 및 배최장근단면적은 출하월령이 증가할수록 증가하였으며, 근내지방도 역시 출하월령이 증가할수록 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 따라서 한우 고급육을 생산하기 위해서는 볏짚 보다는 목건초 급여로 출하시기를 28개월령 이상 사육하는 것이 바람직한 것으로 사료된다.

Effect of Nitrogen Fertilization Levels and its Split Application of Nitrogen on Growth Characters and Productivity in Sorghum × Sudangrass Hybrids [Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench]

  • Nitrogen (N) fertilizer management is one of the important aspects of economic production of sorghums in sustainable agriculture. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effects of different N application rates and its split N application methods on productivity, growth characteristics, N accumulation, N use efficiency (NUE), and feed value of Sorghum ${\times}$ Sudangrass hybrids. Treatments consisted of five N application rates (0, 150, 200, 250, and $300kg\;ha^{-1}$) and two split N application methods (40% in basal N, 30% at the growing stage, and 30% after the first harvest vs. 50% in basal N and 50% after the first harvest). Plant height, leaf width, and stem diameter were increased ($p{\leq}0.05$) with increasing N fertility rates at each harvest. Chlorophyll content (expressed as SPAD values) was the highest at a rate of $300\;kg\;N\;ha^{-1)$ (first harvest, 46.32; second harvest, 33.09). It was the lowest at zero N (first harvest, 21.56; second harvest, 18.5). Total N, N uptake, and NUE were increased with higher N rates. Split N application had little effect on total N, amount of N uptake, or NUE. Total dry matter yields were the highest ($21,715\;kg\;ha^{-1}$) at a rate of $300\;kg\;N\;ha^{-1}$. It was the lowest ($10,054\;kg\;ha^{-1}$) at zero N. Our results suggest that more than $300\;kg\;N\;ha^{-1}$ can improve dry matter yield to be above 116% compared to zero N, thus enhancing the agronomic characters of sorghums. However, no significant effect had been found for split N application. Further work is needed to determine the optimal N levels and the effect of split N application rates.
