The purpose of this study was to provide basic data of nutrition education to teach the right eating habit and lifestyle by investigating eating habit of students in private and public elementary schools of Kangnam and Kangbuk region. When the eating habit was investigated, there was no difference between the residential region, and school types. Depending on gender and person who cooked, there was meaningful difference in the eating habit. When the mother or father cooked for the student, his or her child had breakfast everyday, had a meal regularly, enjoyed the meal with the family, and left less food. This shows that the meal with family is a very positive factor in the formation of right eating habit. The female students tend to eat snacks, skip breakfast, have unbalanced diet, leave food, and watch TV during a meal more than the male students. Therefore, the female students need more education of eating habit. Also, not many the students usually got corrected their bad eating habits from others, and this showed that no proper guidance of their bad eating habits was done. Nevertheless, the students tried to correct their eating habits by themselves. If the schools and students' give them the proper education about eating habit, it can be more effective. Therefore, the school should teach the students and their parents the right table manner and nutrition information through a systematical curriculum. In special cases, they should teach the students individually.
This study was carried out to investigate the food habit and health status of housewives in rural area of Gyonggi Province. The subjects of this study were 121 rural housewives and interviewed with a questionnaire. The results were as follows 1. In food habit items, the mean of Kimchi intake ($4.89\pm0.38$) was the highest, while that of meat processed food intake ($2.12\pm1.07$) was the lowest. The average of food habit score was $53.1\pm7.7$(out of 80) and was not significantly different with educational level, income, family type, size and agricultural type. In age, older subjects had low score. In regular mealtime, 74.4% of subjects had high score. The subjects that had good appetite were 49.6%. 2. The average of height and weight were 156.99cm and 55.5kg respectively. The appeal ratio in THI items was high in the order of musculoskeletal pain (1.62), tired (1.88), eye-fatigued (1.91), mental instability (2.03) and depression (2.07). The average of THI score was $32.7\pm5.5$(out of 45) and was not significantly different with educational level, income, family type and size, but the subjects of younger and nonagricultural belonged to high score level. The percentage of subjects in normal blood pressure, obesity and retained disease at present were 66.9%, 6.1% and 23.1% respectively. There was no significant difference except for good appetite in the relation among food habit, obesity and blood pressure. Food habit score was not significantly different with THI score, but health status seemed to be good in the better food habit.

This nutritional survey was conducted from January to March 1994, in order to investigate the nutirtional knowledge, food habits, nutritional attitude, food preferences and nutrient intakes of housewives living in urban area and rural area. The subjects of this survey were 164 urban housewives living in Daegu and Pohang area and 170 rural housewives living in Andong area. The results obtained are summarized as follows ; The subjects had a high level of perceived knowledge(81.2%), that is the knowledge that each subject believed she had, but the accuracy of the knowledge was only 66.3%. Most of the urban housewives belong to "Fair" or "Good" food habit group, while rural housewives belonged to "Fair" or "Poor" food habit group. The correlation between nutritional knowledge score and food habit score was low. And the correlation between nutritional attitude score and food habit score was low, too. Food perferences for kimchi, cooked rice, potato, milk were high in both group. Most of the nutrient intakes of the urban and rural housewives were not significantly different each otehr at p<0.05.ficantly different each otehr at p<0.05.
This survey was carried out to investigate the correlationship between the nutrition knowledge scores and food habit of the mothers and food preference and other factors of the 272 elementary school children in Masan. The results were summarized as follows : 1. Children's most favorite food was fruits, but they dislike spicy vegetables and some fermented foods. Preferences of the male children to food groups such as protein, calcium and carbohydrate were significantly higher than those of the female children. 2. The rate of the children who take between-meal snacks 2 o 3 times a day was high and those children who skip breakfast take snacks more often. They prefer to eat fruits, dairy products and cakes as their snacks. The body weight of the children who take snacks more frequently was rather lower. 3. As the mother's nutrition knowledge scores rise, so do those of food habit scores. The nutrition knowledge scores go up according to the education degree of the mothers, but the food habit scores seem to have little to do with their education degree. The nutrition knowledge scores of the working mothers were lower than those of the non-working mothers. 4. There was strong positive correlation between the food preference on the food group and those on the other food groups of the children. As the food habit scores of the mothers rise, the children prefer to take calcium and carbohydrate group. Those who take more fat showed higher body weight.
This study was conducted to investigate the effect of two-year course of food and nutrition on improving nutrition knowledge, dietary attitudes and food habits of junior college female students by questionnaires. The subjects were 108 college female students enrolled in the department of food and nutrition in Gyeonggi area. The results were as follows: There were no significant changes in the weights and BMI (Body Mass Index) after 2-yr course of food and nutrition. Nutrition knowledge (14.7 vs 16.3, p < 0.001) and dietary attitude (34.3 vs 35.8, p < 0.01) increased significantly after 2-yr course. However, no significant changes in food habit were observed. Among nutrition knowledge, the scores of functions (4.5 vs 5.2, p < 0.001) and understanding (6.7 vs 7.4, p < 0.01) of nutrients were significantly increased. The recognition of nutrition knowledge increased significantly (83.1 vs 95.7, p < 0.001). Among food habit, dietary habit (13.2 vs 12.5, p < 0.01) and health related habit (15.6 vs 14.6, p < 0.001) were significantly lowered after 2-yr course. The change in dietary attitudes showed significantly positive correlation with food habit changes (p < 0.05). These results showed that 2-yr course of Food and Nutrition had improved the nutrition knowledge and dietary attitudes. Therefore, providing the more systematic and appropriate nutrition education to students during their study period will be improved dietary attitudes and food habits.
The questionnaires answered by 832 college students were analyzed for nutrition knowledge, food habits, and the sources of nutrition information. The students had a high level of perceived knowledge(88%), that is the knowledge that each subject believed he had, but the accuracy of the knowledge was only 55%. The mean score of nutrition knowledge was 7.20 out of possible 15.0 points and the mean food habit score was only 3.90 out of possible 10.0 points. And 59% of the subjects belonged 'poor food habit' group. The female subjects showed higher scores than male students in the perceived knowledge, the accuracy of the knowledge, the mean nutrition knowledge score, and the food habit score. There was a high correlation between nutrition knowledge score and food habit score of the subjects. The male students ranked mass media, high school courses, and parents as their primary sources of nutritional information, while 78% of female subjects ranked high school courses as their first choice of nutritional information.

Nutrition knowledge of mothers who had middle-school studients was investigated using questionnaire about nutrition knowledge and food habit. The results were summerized as follows ; The mean score of nutrition knowledge was 25.3 (out of possible-80-80points), which score was slightly lower than those of other studies. the percentage of perceived knowledge and accuracy of the knowledge were 77.7% and 79.6%, respectively. these scores were influenced by general characteristics such as age, education, occupation, income, food expense. With decreasing age and increasing education level, family income, nutritional knowledge score, the percentage of perceived knowledge and accuracy were significantly getting higher. The levels of both perceived knowledge and accuracy on the necessi쇼 of vitamins and minerals were above 90%. However, the accuracy on protein quality and dietary fiber was below 40%. The better food habit a subject had, the higher was the nutrition knowledge score.
The completely answered questionnaires were analyzed for the nutrition knowledge, food habits, value orientation, and the sources of nutrition information of housewives of 20's to 40's. The subjects had a high level of perceived knowledge, that is the knowledge that each subject believed she hadm but the accuracy of the knowledge was only 51.6%. The mean nutrition knowledge score was 6.63 out of possible 15 points, and food habit score was 5.31 out of 10 points. Most of the subjects belonged to "Good" to "Fair" food habit group, which is considered to be relatively good. With increasing age and decreasing level of education, the percent of perceived knowledge and accuracy, and nutricion knowledge score were getting lower. However, the food habit score was getting higher with increasing age. This suggests that food habit was dependent more upon the length of married life than the nutrition knowledge in housewives. The corelation between nutrition knowledge score and food habit score was low. The economic area was the most concerned area of the subjects, followed by health and social. The scores of utrition knowledge and food abits of the subjects who ranked the health the highest were not different from those of economic and social. TV, radio, newspapers, and magazines were the most important sources of nutrition information.
This nutritional survey was conducted from January 20 to February 8, 1994, in order to investigate the nutritional knowledge, food habits, nutritional attitude, food preferences and nutrient intakes of housewives living in Andong district, rural area of Korea. The average nutritional knowledge score was 7.93 out of possible 15 points, and food habit score was 5.08 out of 10 points. Most of the subjects belonged to "Fair" or "Poor" food habit group, which is considered to be relatively bad. With increasing age, the percentage of perceived knowledge, accuracy, and nutritional knowledge score were getting lower. Food habit score and nutritional attitude score were getting lower with increasing age, too. The correlation between nutritional knowledge score and food habit score was low(r=0.01). The correlation between nutritional attitude score and food habit was low, too(r=0.15). Food preferences for kimchi, cooked rice, potato, milk, beef, chicken, and carrot were high. Average calorie and protein intakes of the subjects were 1915.7㎉ and 77.0g respectively. The ratio of caloric nutrients intake was carbohydrate 65.9%, protein 14.9%, and fat 19.2%.
The purpose of this study was to investigate dietary habit and to evaluate nutritional status and obesity index about adults living in Daejon area. This study was conducted with 250 subjects (male 130, female 120) who visited periodically a periodic health center in a general hospital from May to June in 2002. Questionaries were used for studying of dietary habit and food frequency method. Dietary intake was assessed by food frequency method and consumption of foods and nutrients was analyzed. The relationship between dietary habit and obesity were also analyzed. Dietary habit was better in female than mail. There was no significant difference in mean of Broca's index between female ($110.6\pm16.6\%$) and male ($110.0\pm13.7\%$). The obesity group showed low dietary habit score in irregular eating behavior, frequent eating out and over-intake of salty foods. Especially mean intakes of energy were lower than Korean RDA in all groups. All groups except obesity group were deficiency of vitamin A and vitamin $B_{1}$ and calcium.
