  • In this paper, we propose the folded PIFA with its made an alteration to a factor of resonance for L-slot PIFA. Proposed antenna maintain diminished size patch and improve each bandwidth of GSM(0.88$\sim$-0.96 GHz) and W-CDMA(1.92$\sim$2,17 GHz) for miniaturized repeater. The non-slot step folded PIFA's structure that design of essence was general L-slot PIFA for dual-band. It has no U-slot, multi band and the another slot. The parameters of proposed antenna were optimized for dual-band and compact size by folded singleness patch. Proposed antenna by using folded singleness patch take satisfaction main point, bandwidth of GSM and W-CDMA, compact patch size($39{\times}21{\times}13mm^3$). The antenna was designed by FDTD simulation tool and it was made from result of simulation. Measured data shown that the proposed non-slot step folded PIFA was strong possibility.

  • In this paper, to reduce the patch size of microstrip antenna, folded surface-type patch antenna is designed and fabricated. Size reduction could be achieved because of the downed resonant frequency by the extended current path passing along below the transformated patch surface. Comparison of the patch size at the 1.575 GHz between plane type(length 82 mm${\times}$width 90 mm) and "ㄷ"-shaped folded type is carried and comparision of frequency variation at the same patch size is carried. The result is like that the patch size was reduced than the plane type by 60 mm(73.17 %) at the same frequency. Therefore, it could be checked that "ㄷ"-shaped folded type antenna is advantageous than the plane type in size reduction.

  • In this paper, a single plane wide band microstrip antenna for integrated circuit is designed and fabricated. A new configuration for a wide bandwidth is proposed. This antenna consists of two folded microstrip monopoles, which are fed by a coplanar waveguide (CPW). Therefore In this paper is folded terminal part of dual microstrip line for variable reactance value. As a result compared the proposed folded dual microstrip monopole antenna with established dual microstrip monopole antennas, the proposed antenna can widen bandwidth more then about over 1[GHz. The characteristics of the proposed antenna were analyzed by using an FDTD methods. The proposed antenna has $1.98{\sim}4.05GHz$ bandwidth for using ISM, Wibro and DMB band.

  • This paper proposes a high-gain monopulse antenna using the folded reflectarray for a monopulse target-tracking radar systems designed at the center frequency of 94 GHz. In target-tracking radar systems, the angle of arrival of the incoming wave Is determined by comparing the signal received on two or more non-coincident antenna patterns. This is the physical basis of most target-tracking techniques and the comparison is made simultaneously in a monopulse radar systems. In this paper, the antenna consists of polarizing grid, reflectarray, multimode feed horn, and comparator implemented by wavguide. The antenna is able to have three radiation patterns by using the monopulse feed systems assembled by multimode feed horn and comparator. The antenna demonstrates maximum gains 36dB, 33.5dB and 27.2dB at sum mode, azimuth mode, and evevation mode respectively.

  • The impedance step up ratio and variations of input admittances of the folded dipole antenna are calculated by the moment method. The results are compared with those calculated by Guertler's formula. The input admittance of the folded dipole antenna has the maximum value at the frequency somewhat lower than the resonance frequency and its susceptance which has periodic properly is null lot several different frequencies if radius ratio of two elements is not very large. Frequency characteristic of folded dipole antenna is improved when its radius ratio is increased.

  • In this paper, the miniaturized the linear polarization and the circular polarization microstrip antennas, which are the two ends in the resonance length direction or all the four-ends were folded are designed and fabricated at the resonant frequency of 1.575 GHz(fur GPS system). For the linear polarization microstrip antenna, the antenna was bent. downward so that the visible length(=L) was reduced by $31.7\%(\varepsilon_r=1.06)$. The folded antenna was folded toward the center of the antenna once again. In this case, the visible length reduction rate, gain, -10 dB bandwidth, E-plane and H-plane HPBW were $73.9\%$, 5.12 dBd, $64MHz(4\%),\;151^{\circ}\;and\;79.2^{\circ}$, respectively. For the circular polarization microstrip antenna, the folded structure of the linear polarization antenna was applied to all the few directions. For the most efficiency the folded bottom surfaces were designed in a triangular shape. In this case, the visible area reduction rate, gain, -10 dB bandwidth, and HPBW in horizontal polarization of the z-x plane and the z-y plane were $71.5\%,\;3.96dBd,\;84MHz(5.3\%),\;80.6^{\circ}\;and\;82.1^{\circ}$, respectively. Therefore, we have confirmed that the folded structure is suitable fer the miniaturization of the microstrip antenna.

  • This paper proposes the planar-type modified monopole antennas of loop structure. This antenna has an opened center of a conventional closed loop structure with an inside-folded terminal of the loop microstrip line. The size of the proposed antenna was minimized by folding the end of the loop. Also, the reactance value has been minimized by increasing capacitances between the coupled microstrip line. Therefore the proposed antenna has been compacted to about 20% from a conventional loop antenna and has increased its efficiency. The proposed antennas have an omni-directional pattern, the antenna gain was 3.67 [dBi] and the bandwidth was 900 MHz (2.6~3.56 GHz) with VSWR$\leq$2 from the simulated and the measured results. The frequency utilization coefficient was 29.9%. These properties could satisfy the S-DMB band.

  • A novel folded dipole type microstrip patch antenna designed for ultrahigh frequency (UHF) band radio frequency identification (RFID) tag is presented in this paper, which can be used on the metallic objects. The presented antenna is fabricated on a very thin Rogers 5880 substrate with a thickness of 0.508 mm. The structure consists of two folded dipole and two symmetrical shorting pins placed at both sides of feed point. An adjustable frequency response can be easy obtained via modify the location and radius of the shorting pins. The antenna has been analyzed by full wave simulations soft. The simulated bandwidth is about 67.2 MHz, which covers the Europe and North America UHF RFID frequency range. A manufactured prototype has been fabricated and measured to demonstrate the antenna performances. The simulation results agree with the measurement data well. The measured maximum reading range of the prototype can be reached 4.1 m in free space, and 3.2 m on a metal plate whose size is $150{\times}150{\times}8mm^3$.

  • A new type of monopole antenna whit broadband characteristics is presented in this article. To reduce the size of the antenna, its upper part is folded. By separating the current flow, the resonance in the shorter part is in the higher band; and the longer part resonates in the lower band. This gives the broadband characteristics of the antenna. Slots on the corner using an oblique line improve the impedance matching and bandwidth. The measurement results show that the bandwidth operates from 0.848~0.992 GHz and 1.744~2.528 GHz, and the radiation patterns are in an omni-directional shape.
