  • Smartphones are currently being produced with similar functions, shapes, and software. The foldable smartphone is a product that dramatically changed the shape of the existing smartphone. Therefore, it affects the functions and software. In this paper, we analyze the potential security vulnerability of current mobile authentication methods by dividing them into two parts, security vulnerabilities of non-foldable smartphones, and security vulnerability that appears with the changed smartphone structure. According to the analysis result, the classic and current mobile user authentication methods appears to be easily affected by the smartphone display structure. Finally, we propose an appropriate authentication method as well as the concept of security measures for smartphones with foldable screen. Our method shows that it is more secure than the conventional authentication methods in foldable display smartphone.

  • Shipping containers promote rapid development of the transport industry, and generate economic and social value. However, problems often occur due to imbalance in dynamics between exports and imports, container relocation, traffic congestion, and general shipping network designs. So, efficient and cost-effective cargo management has become crucial for the Jeju Island - Mokpo container route (JMCR) in South Korea. Dozens of recent studies reveal that collapsible or foldable containers, may become an innovative solution to problematic issues within the shipping industry. The major purpose of this study is to discuss conditions required for successful commercial application of foldable containers, based on a cost-benefit analysis precisely for the JMCR. Findings reveal usage of foldable containers can be cost-effective, if containers make a "FULL<->EMPTY" route. To the contrary, a "FULL<->FULL" route can drastically increase expenditure. However, economic analysis of actual figures for 2010-2015 indicate that benefits for Mokpo - Jeju direction are significant to cover losses on the Jeju - Mokpo line. Seasonal patterns and mixing percentages of foldable and standard containers on the route, may also produce cost-effective solutions. Sensitivity analysis reveals that benefits from using foldable containers, depend mostly on empty container shares in addition to various extra costs.

  • Particulate filtering facepiece respirators (PFFR) is one of the most widely used items of personal protective equipments, and a tight fit of the respirators on the wearers is critical for the protection effectiveness. In order to effectively protect the workers through the respirators, it is important to find and evaluate the ways that can be readily applicable at the workplace to improve the fit of the respirators. This study was designed to evaluate effects of mask style (cup or foldable type) and donning training on fit factors (FF) of the respirators, since these are available at various workplace, especially at small business workplace. A total of 40 study subjects, comprised of 30~50s aged male and female workers in metalworking industries, were enrolled in this study. The FF were quantitatively measured before and after training related to the proper donning and use of cup or foldable-type respirators. The pass/fail criterion of FF was set at 100. After the donning training for the cup-type mask, subjects who passed the fit test were increased from 10 to 33. Moreover, the geometric mean (GM) of FF was increased by 340% in subjects who failed the test. In addition, the training effects for the cup-type mask were significant in female and 50s aged subjects. On the other hand, although the GM of FF for the foldable-type mask was also increased after the donning training, the GM of FF for the foldable-type mask and it's increase rate were smaller as compared to the cup-type mask. Furthermore, the differences of the increase rates of the GM of FF in sex and aged of the subjects were not significantly for the foldable-type mask. The multi-distribution of leak points for the foldable-type mask may be one of causes for the less effect of training on the fit of the foldable-type mask. These results imply that the raining on the donning and use of PFFR can enhance the protection effectiveness of cup or foldable-type mask, and that the training effects for the foldable-type mask is less significant than that for the cup-type mask. Therefore, It is recommended that the donning training and fit tests should be conducted before the use of the PFFR, and that efficient tranining programs for the foldable-type mask are required.

  • This study intends to present the most optimal interaction in association with available functions if the foldable display is applied to smart devices. For this, I have looked into the flow of development, morphological features and the application areas of the foldable display based on review literature. I have also established five principles of interaction applicable to the foldable display through the study on the concept and characteristics of foldable display interactions and previous research cases. Next, I have conducted user surveys to find the most optimal interactions with the functions of smart devices taken into account. Prior to user surveys, I have classified foldable display interactions into 36 categories based on the five interaction principles of the foldable display. In addition, I have selected 17 major functions of regular smart devices based on relevant documents. Lastly, utilizing concrete interaction methods and functions obtained in this manner, I have conducted user surveys based on the relationship among multiple relevant factors and chosen the interaction method that acquired the highest frequency and score as the most optimal one whose detailed description has been provided as well.

  • The experimental results are presented of an autonomous flight algorithm of a foldable quadcopter with airdrop launching functions. A foldable wing structure enabled the quadcopter to be inserted into a rocket container with limited space. The foldable quadcopter was then separated from the rocket in the air. The flight pattern was tracked using a global positioning system (GPS) with various sensors, including an inertial measurement unit (IMU) module until a designated target position was reached. Extensive field tests were conducted through an international rocket competition, ARLISS 2017, which was held in Black Rock Desert, Nevada, USA. The flight trajectory record of the experiments is stored in electrically erasable programmable read-only memory (EEPROM) embedded in the main control unit. The flight record confirmed that the quadcopter successfully separated from the rocket, executed flight toward the target for a certain length of time, and stably landed on the ground.

  • In the transportation between countries using container, too many empty containers must be transported due to the transportation unbalance. For transportation efficiency, therefore, foldable containers are being developed. Hinge brackets are important parts of foldable containers because great force is applied on the hinges during loading onto and unloading from ships. In this study, the hinge bracket for a foldable container is designed to be made using thick plate or bulk materials to endure the heavy loads. The forming process for the hinge bracket using a thick plate is designed via numerical analysis. First of all, the shape of bracket is designed for the better formability. Bending and successive side wall thickening processes are employed for the forming of the hinge bracket. Maximum thickening that can be achieved in a single stage of forming without a folding defect is determined and three stage of thickening processes are designed.

  • There was a difference in recognition of respirators according to the educational performance environment. they were showed higher recognition of respirators of group by internal and external mix trainer, less than 6 months, over 1hour, more than 5 times, variety of education. To identify the relationship between types of job classification(typical and atypical)and the levels of recognition of respirators, a total of 153 workers in a business workplace. mainly, typical workers showed higher recognition of respirators than atypical workers. Training of correct wearing showed high demands both typical and atypical workers. Descriptive statistics(SAS ver 9.2)was performed. the results of recognition of respirators were analyzed the mean and standard deviation by t-test, and anova, fit factor is used geometric means(geometric standard deviation), paired t-test, Wilcoxon analysis(P=0.05). Particulate filtering facepiece respirators (PFFR) is one of the most widely used items of personal protective equipments, and a tight fit of the respirators on the wearers is critical for the protection effectiveness. In order to effectively protect the workers through the respirators, it is important to find and evaluate the ways that can be readily applicable at the workplace to improve the fit of the respirators. A total of 40 study subjects, comprised of employment type workers in metalworking industries, were enrolled in this study. The FF were quantitatively measured before and after training related to the proper donning and use of cup or foldable-type respirators. The pass/fail criterion of FF was set at 100. After the donning training for the cup-type mask, fit test were increased by 769%. but foldable-type mask was also increased after the donning training, the GM of FF for the foldable-type mask and it's increase rate were smaller as compared to the cup-type mask. Furthermore, the differences of the increase rates of the GM of FF in employment type of the subjects were not significantly for the foldable-type mask. These results imply that the raining on the donning and use of PFFR can enhance the protection effectiveness of cup or foldable-type mask, and that the training effects for the foldable-type mask is less significant than that for the cup-type mask. Therefore, it is recommended that the donning training and fit tests should be conducted before the use of the PFFR, and listening to workers opinion regularly.
