The Korea Wave has been spread out all over the world since 1990s. Therefore, it can be seen that the Korea wave phenomenon is one of determinants of international tourism demand for Korea in addition to the macro factors such as population, GDP per capita, exchange rate, distance, etc. Existing studies have focused on analyzing the impacts of the Korea wave on the international tourism demand for Korea by using the aggregated data. However, the impacts of the Korea wave inducing tourism vary in different age groups. In this study, we conduct empirical analysis in order to explore how different the effects of Korea wave on the demand of foreign tourists visiting to Korea in different age groups are. The estimation results show that the Korea Wave influences most on international tourism demand for Korea in the age group of the under-20s. Noticeable is that the estimated effects of the Korea Wave on international tourism demand for Korea in the age group of the over-50s are higher than those in the 30s and 40s. This indicates that the parent generations visit Korea together with their young children who are most affected by the Korea Wave. Through this study, it is necessary to develop strategies for tourism marketing linked to children and parents, and to develop tourism products to increase the number of foreign visitors to Korea in the 30s and 40s.
The current study attempts to empirically identify a theoretical background that effectively explains Korean pop-culture consumption in the Asian Pacific region; particularly, in China. Specifically, this study investigates how globalism, proximity, and modernity, which have been suggested in literature as key theoretical backgrounds for the Korean wave, influence China's motivation to consume the Korean wave and its subsequent consumption of Korean TV programs (e.g., dramas, variety shows, etc.). The findings suggest that the motivation to consume the Korean wave is positively related to globalism and proximity. Modernity, however, is found to have a negative influence on the motivation to consume the Korean wave. That is, the more one holds international values, the more one perceives Korea as similar to China, and the more one holds traditional values, the more motivation one shows to consume the Korean wave. The study also finds that the motivation to consume the Korean wave has a significant impact on the consumption of Korean TV programs. In the revised model, the study suggests that proximity, followed by globalism, has the strongest positive relationship with motivation. Such a finding suggests that a proximity approach could serve as a better theoretical perspective to explain the phenomenon of the Korean wave in China. Regarding the relationships of the demographic/socio-economic variables and the motivation to consume the Korean wave, females, rather than males, the higher the family income one gains, and the lower education level one has had, the more motivation one will show to consume the Korean wave.
Most seismic sea waves in the East Sea originate from earthquakes occurring near the Japanese west coast. While the waves propagate in the East Sea, they are deformed by refraction, diffraction and scattering. Though the Boussinesq equation is most applicable for such wave phenomena, it was not used in numerical modelling of seismic sea waves in the East Sea. To examine characteristics of seismic sea waves in the East Sea, numerical models based on the Boussinesq equation are established and used to simulate recent tsunamis. By considering Ursell parameter and Kajiura parameter, it is proved that Boussinesq equation is a proper equation for seismic sea waves in the East Sea. Two models based on the Boussinesq equation and linear wave equation are executed with the same initial conditions and grid size ($1min{\times}1min$), and the results are compared in various respects. The Boussinesq equation model produced better results than the linear model in respect to wave propagation and concentration of wave energy. It is also certified that the Boussinesq equation model can be used for operational purpose if it is optimized. Another Boussinesq equation model whose grid size is $40sec{\times}30sec$ is set up to simulate the 1983 and 1993 tsunamis. As the result of simulation, new propagation charts of 2 seismic sea waves focused on the Korean east coast are proposed. Even though the 1983 and 1993 tsunamis started at different areas, the propagation paths near the Korean east coast are similar and they can be distinguished into 4 paths. Among these, total energy and propagating time of the waves passing over North Korea Plateau(NKP) and South Korea Plateau(SKP) determine wave height at the Korean east coast. In case of the 1993 tsunami, the wave passing over NKP has more energy than the wave over SKP. In case of the 1983 tsunami, the huge energy of the wave passing over SKP brought about great maximum wave heights at Mukho and Imwon. The Boussinesq equation model established in this study is more useful for simulation of seismic sea waves near the Korean east coast than it is the Japanese coast. To improve understanding of seismic sea waves in shallow water, a coastal area model based on the Boussinesq equation is also required.

In current stage, it is hard to predict the scale of damage caused by natural disaster and it is hard to deal with it. However, in case of disaster planning level, if it is possible to predict the scale of disaster then quick reaction can be done which will reduce the damage. In the present study, therefore, function of wind wave damage estimation among various disaster is developed. Damage of wind wave and typhoon in eastern and Jeju coastal zone was collected from disaster report (1991~2014) published by Ministry of Public Safety and Security and to reflect inflation rate, 2014 damage cost was converted. Also, wave height, wind speed, wave direction, wave period, etc was collected from Meteorological Administration and Korea Hydrographic and Oceanographic Administration web site. To reflect the characteristic of coastal zone when wave damage occurs, CODI(Coastal Disaster Index), COSI(Coastal Sensitivity Index), CPII(Coastal Potential Impact Index) published by Korea Hydrographic and Oceanographic Agency in 2015 were used. When damage occurs, function predicting wind wave damage was developed through weather condition, regional characteristic index and correlation of damage cost.
The question-"How fast a electron tunnels a potential barrier?" looks like simple, but is controversy for more than 40 years. Because "tunneling" involves complicated internal processes and its definition is ambiguous. Recent experiments showed that the phase time is the best model of tunneling time among other times-for example, dwell time, Larmor clock time etc. In this paper, we simulated the tunneling time for Gaussian wave packet by program InterQuanta and compared with the phase time. In particular we focused on the effect of wave packet spreading in momentum space(or real space) which is not expressed by the phase time formula.

An experimental model is investigated in this paper using the experimental method with a shock tube and the numerical technique. The shock-vortex interaction generated by this model is visualized with various methods: holographic interferometry, shodowgraphy, and numerical computation. In terms of shock dynamics, there are two meaningful physics in the present problem. They are reflective wave from the slip layer at the vortex edge and transmitted shock penetrating the vortex core. The discussion in this study is mainly focused on the two kinds of waves contributing to the quadrupolar pressure distribution around the vortex center during the interaction.

This paper is to study the response of flat plate slab-column connections consisting of various types of shear reinforcement and steel plate subjected to gravity loadings, mainly punching shear forces using the non-destructive testing, spectral analysis of surface waves and structural experiments. The base specimen failed due to punching shear generated from the gravity. The three other types of slab shear reinforcement and steel plate showed effective in resisting punching shear for these types of connections under gravity loading. This study has focused in evaluating the velocity response of a Surface wave during the early age as the poured concrete specimens have been hardened, the possibility of damage detection in the slab-column connection and the relationship between the punching shear forces and the surface wave velocities under the condition that the punching shear forces had gradually increased until the flat plate slab in slab-column connection had been failed.

Inkjet printing technology with a drop-on-demand (DOD) inkget head technology has been recognized as one of versatile and low cost manufacturing tools in the electronics industry. Concerned with control of driving signal, however, general strategy to optimize jetting stability has not been understood well, because of the inherent complex multi-physics nature in inkjet phenomena. Motivated by this, present study investigates the effect of driving waveforms of piezoelectric head on jetting characteristics of DOD inkjet system focused on jetting stability with phase matching of pressure waves in the print head. The results show that velocities and volumes of the ink jetted droplets were linear relations with the driving signal's maximum voltage, while periodic behaviors are observed with the driving signal's pulse widths.

We designed wideband HTS antennas which consists of two triangle -radiation patches using a $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-X}$ (YBCO) superconducting thin film. The major limitation of high-Tc superconducting (HTS) microstrip antennas is the narrow bandwidth due to the high Q and thin substrate. Defining bandwidth as the frequency range over which standing wave ratio (SWR) 2:1 or less, HTS antenna bandwidths are typically 0.85 % to 1.1 %. Thus considerable effort has been focused on developing antennas for broadband operation. To calculate input impedance and design of the broadband HTS antennas a moment method technique was used. The HTS antenna fabricated in this work was designed for K-band, which is useful band for satellite to satellite communications. The bandwidth obtained was a significant 6.7 % and the other measured performance of our HTS antenna, including the bandwidth, radiation Pattern, efficiency, standing wave ratio (SWR) and return losses was reported.
