  • In this paper, a new method for detecting rotor vibrations in a squirrel-cage induction motor is proposed. The air-gap flux variation analysis was done using search coils inserted in stator slots when rotor vibration conditions occurs. An accurate modelling and analysis of air-gap flux variation in the induction motor are developed using finite-element (FE) software packages, and treasuring the flux are made using search coils. In the FE analysis and experiment, the three-phase squirrel-gage induction motor with 380 [V], 7.5 [kW], 4 Poles, 1,768 [rpm] ratings is used. The simulation and experiment results can be useful for detecting rotor vibration of the induction motors.

  • This paper deals with magnetic characteristic analysis of axial flux permanent magnet coupling according to overload using analytical method. When magnet coupling has a slip, the eddy current induced in PM with conductivity. This eddy current make a distorted flux density. In this paper, we analyze the distorted flux density. The analytical results are validated extensively by comparing with 3d finite element analysis.

  • This paper proposes a new method for detecting broken rotor bars in a squirrel-cage induction motor. The air-gap flux variation analysis was done using search coils inserted in stator slots when broken rotor bar occurs. An accurate modeling and analysis of air-gap flux variation in the induction motor are developed using finite-element(FE) software packages, and measurement of the flux are made using search coils. The simulation was done for the induction motor with 380 [V]. 7.5 [kW], 4 Poles, 1,760 [rpm] ratings using the commercial FE analysis tool. The simulation and experiment results can be useful for detecting the broken rotor bar of an induction motor.

  • This paper deals with a qualitative analysis of iron loss in Transverse Flux Linear Motor (TFLM). 3D equivalent magnetic circuit network method (EMCNM) is used as an analytical method to get flux density of each element. The total core loss is calculated with the magnetic flux density and core loss curves of an optional material. The results of iron loss analysis can be used as a criterion to decide the manufactural shape such as lamination or solid type core, skew position, etc.

AFPM 전동기의 오버행 효과에 관한 연구 (Overhang Effect on the Axial Flux Permanent Magnet Motor)

  • In this paper, the overhang structure was applied to the axial flux permanent magnet (AFPM) motor. This paper describes the overhang effect in the AFPM motor. Moreover, the overhang effect was analyzed according to the different overhang length and an optimal overhang structure was proposed. Finally, the proposed structure was applied to design, analysis and experiment of prototype motors. Through the comparison between 3D finite element analysis results and experimental ones, the validity of proposed structure is clarified.

  • Though it was difficult of globally monitor latent heat flux aver the ocean for many years, the situation is rapidly changing by the use of satellite data. Since a bulk formula is used to estimate turbulent heat flux using satellite data, we need wind speed, sea surface temperature and specific humidity data. However, it is not easy to accurately estimate specific humidity using satellite data. Now several algorithms for estimating specific humidity have been proposed and applied to construct latent heat flux data sets. Latent heat flux data sets derived from satellite data such as J-OFURO, HOAPS and GSSTF are available at present. Since the algorithm and used satellite data are not the same between them. the characteristics of each data set may be different. Therefore, it is important to clarify the difference between each data set and investigate the cause of the difference in latent heat flux estimates. In this paper we summarize the present state of the art with regard to the turbulent heat flux estimation by using satellite data. Also we present the comparison results of latent heat flux fields including not only satellite-derived flux fields but also analysis fields.

  • 냉각장치가 있는 실험용액체로켓엔진으로 연소실험을 수행하였다. 냉각제의 온도변화를 측정하여 추력실에서 발생하는 열 유속을 계산하였고, 이 결과를 기 개발된 수치해석 방법에 의해 예측한 열유속과 비교하였다. 그 결과 9%이내의 오차를 보이므로 개발된 수치해석 방법은 실제 로켓엔진의 설계 및 제작에 이용 가능하며, 연소압 및 혼합비가 열 유속에 일정한 비례관계를 가지고 영향을 미치고 있음을 고찰하였다.

섬광계를 이용한 비균질 도시 지표에서의 현열속 산정 (LAS-Derived Determination of Surface-Layer Sensible Heat Flux over a Heterogeneous Urban Area)

  • A large aperture scintillometer (LAS) was deployed with an optical path length of 2.1 km to estimate turbulent sensible heat flux (${\mathcal{Q}}_H$) over a highly heterogeneous urban area. Scintillation measurements were conducted during cold season in November and December 2013, and the daytime data of 14 days were used in the analysis after quality control processes. The LAS-derived ${\mathcal{Q}}_H$ show reasonable temporal variation ranging $20{\sim}160W\;m^{-2}$ in unstable atmospheric conditions, and well compare with the measured net radiation. The LAS footprint analysis suggests that ${\mathcal{Q}}_H$ can be relatively high when the newly built-up urban area has high source contribution of the turbulent flux in the study area ('northwesterly winds'). Sensitivity tests show that the LAS-derived ${\mathcal{Q}}_H$ are highly sensitive to non-dimensional similarity function for temperature structure function parameter, but relatively less sensitive to surface aerodynamic parameters and meteorological variables (temperature and wind speed). A lower Bowen ratio also has a significant influence on the flux estimation. Overall uncertainty of the estimated daytime ${\mathcal{Q}}_H$ is expected within about 20% at an upper limit for the analysis data. It is also found that stable atmospheric conditions can be poorly determined when the scintillometry technique is applied over the highly heterogeneous urban area.

MUSIC-based Diagnosis Algorithm for Identifying Broken Rotor Bar Faults in Induction Motors Using Flux Signal

  • The diagnosis of motor failures using an on-line method has been the aim of many researchers and studies. Several spectral analysis techniques have been developed and are used to facilitate on-line diagnosis methods in industry. This paper discusses the first application of a motor flux spectral analysis to the identification of broken rotor bar (BRB) faults in induction motors using a multiple signal classification (MUSIC) technique as an on-line diagnosis method. The proposed method measures the leakage flux in the radial direction using a radial flux sensor which is designed as a search coil and is installed between stator slots. The MUSIC technique, which requires fewer number of data samples and has a higher detection accuracy than the traditional fast Fourier transform (FFT) method, then calculates the motor load condition and extracts any abnormal signals related to motor failures in order to identify BRB faults. Experimental results clearly demonstrate that the proposed method is a promising candidate for an on-line diagnosis method to detect motor failures.
