Electrical properties of a fluorinated carbon black (CB)-filled high-density polyethylene (HDPE) polymeric switch were investigated as a function of fluorination pressure at 0.1 ~ 0.4 MPa. From the FT-IR results, the absorption spectra of the fluorinated CB show an absorption band at 1400 ~ 1000 $cm^{-1}\;for\;{\nu}_{C-F}$ and the peak intensity increased with increasing fluorination pressure. Also, the analysis of XPS spectra of the fluorinated CB indicated that fluorine content increased with increasing fluorination pressure. Meanwhile, the surface free energy of the fluorinated CB decreased with increasing fluorination pressure. Consequently, the increase of fluorine contents of CB made a disappearance of negative temperature coefficient (NTC) behavior of the polymeric switch, which was probably due to the reduction of CB reaggregation after melting point of the HDPE, resulted from the decreasing of London dispersive component of the surface free energy for CB particles.
In this paper, the etching behavior of ZnO in $CF_4$ plasma mixed Ar was investigated. Previously, the etch rate in $CF_4$/Ar plasma was reported that it is slower than that in Cl containing plasma. But, plasma included Cl atom can produce the by-product such as $ZnCl_2$. In order to solve this film contamination, no Cl containing etching gas is required. We controlled the etching parameter such as source power, substrate bias power, and $CF_4$/Ar gas ratio to acquire the fast etch rate using a ICP etcher. We accomplished the etching rate of 144.85 nm/min with the substrate bias power of 200W. As the energetic fluorine atoms were bonded with Zinc atoms, the fluoride zinc crystal ($ZnF_2$) was observed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS).
The study was performed to investigate the effect of gaseous emissions of sulfur dioxide and hydrogen fluoride on the growth of rice plants under stressed field conditions consisting of 88 industrial plants operating with 285 smoke stacks emitting pollutants. As for the relationship between yields and yield components it is believed that the panicles per hill is the single most important component affecting the rate of yield of the rice plant. Based on the standard partial regression coefficient analysis, panicles per hill has the largest contribution to yield and the average contribution of 54%. Other components such as spikelets per panicle, percent fertility and 1000 grain weight are also contributing factors to yield, although far less so. Fluorine content in the leaf appear to have more negative effect on panicles per hill, percent fertility and subsequent overall yield than does sulfur content in the leaf. It is constantly observed and interesting to note that fluorine and sulfur content in the leaf appears to have no effect on spikelets per panicle and 1000 grain weight. Reduction in yield seems to be affected mainly by panicles per hill which are, in turn, affected more by fluorine content in the leaf as demonstrated by the standard partial coefficient analysis. Regarding the prediction sum of the square of the regression equation, the lowest value was found when nine variables were used for the analysis. The variables taken into consideration were the monthly sulfur and fluorine content in the leaf as well as the monthly percent of leaf damage during the months of June, July and August. A significant correlation is found between the actual and predicted yields by the regression equations selected as a result of a prediction sum of the square analysis.

Plasma etching is an essential process for electronic device industries and the particulate contamination during plasma etching has been interested as a big issue for the yield of productivity. The oxynitride glasses have a merit to prevent particulate contamination due to their amorphous structure and plasma etching resistance. The YSiAlON oxynitride glasses with increasing nitrogen content were manufactured. Each oxynitride glasses were fluorine-plasma etched and their plasma etching rate and surface roughness were compared with reference materials such as sapphire, alumina and quartz. The reinforcement mechanism of plasma etching resistance of the YSiAlON glasses studied by depth profiling at plasma etched surface using electron spectroscopy for chemical analysis. The plasma etching rate decreased with nitrogen content and there was no selective etching at the plasma etched surface of the oxynitride glasses. The concentration of silicon was very low due to the generation of SiF4 very volatile byproduct and the concentration of aluminum and yttrium was relatively constant. The elimination of silicon atoms during plasma etching was reduced with increasing nitrogen content because the content of the nitrogen was constant. And besides, the concentration of oxygen was very low on the plasma etched surface. From the study, the plasma etching resistance of the glasses may be improved by the generation of nitrogen related structural groups and those are proved by chemical composition analysis at plasma etched surface of the YSiAlON oxynitride glasses.
In this study, to develop the adhesives with improved waterproof properties for display application, UV-curable urethane acrylate oligomers containing a fluorine moiety were synthesized from hydrogenated polybutadiene diol (HLBH-P2000), perfluoropolyether diol (HTPFPE), isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI) and 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate (HEA). The properties which were related waterproof performance such as contact angle, surface energy and water vapor transmission ratio (WVTR) of synthesized fluorine induced urethane acrylate oligomers were measured. As the HTPFPE content increased, the contact angle also increased from 97.9 degree to 104.4 degree. The surface energy and WVTR decreased as the HTPFPE content increased. The adhesion strength also decreased according to the HTPFPE content increased, and the adhesion strength reduction had greatly increased as the HTPFPE content increased. The findings of this study will be beneficial for developing waterproofing adhesives in the field of display which has recently been a waterproof issue.
Hydrophobic Organic-Inorganic (O-I) hybrid materials prepared by sol-gel process have been widely used at functional coating fields such as coatings for anti-corrosion, anti-icing, self-cleaning, anti-reflection. The key point for fabricating hydrophobic surface is to optimize the surface energy and roughness of the coating films. There are typical processes to control the surface energy and roughness which are 'In situ fabricating', 'Pre-fluorinating/Post-roughening', 'Pre-roughening/ Post-fluorinating'. In this study, particle-binder process was used for in-situ fabrication of hydrophobic coating films. Various O-I hybrid compounds prepared using several kinds of alkoxysilane compounds were used as a binder for silica nanoparticles at particle-binder process. To study effect of fluorine content and weight ratio of particle : binder on the hydrophobicity and surface morphology, Hydrophobic coating films were prepared onto glass substrate at various content of fluorine content of O-I hybrid binder and weight ratio of particle : binder. The coating films prepared using O-I hybrid binder (GPTi-HF10) having 10 wt% of fluorine content showed the highes water contact angle (107.52±1.6°). The coating films prepared at 1:3 weight ratio of GPTi-HF10 : silica nanoparticle exhibited the highest water contact angle (130.84±1.99°).

Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) is a promising coating material because of its outstanding processability. The PVDF coating, however, has limitations in anti-corrosion application due to its weak hydrophobicity compared to that of other fluoropolymers. In this study, plasma fluorination was performed using carbon tetrafluoride (CF4) gas to improve anti-corrosion properties of PVDF. The fluorine content and hydrophobicity of PVDF were investigated in different CF4 flow rates, followed by the determination of anti-corrosion properties. The fluorine content on the surface of the PVDF film increased by up to 46.70%, but the surface free energy was independent of CF4 flow rate. Meanwhile, the surface roughness of the PDVF film tended to increase by up to 150% and then decrease with increasing CF4 flow rate. It is considered that the plasma fluorination affects the surface free energy due to the introduction of fluorine functional groups and surface etching. In addition, the degree of corrosion of the PVDF-coated Fe plate was significantly reduced from 49.2% to 19.0% compared to that of the uncoated Fe plate. In particular, the degree of corrosion of the fluorinated PVDF-coated Fe plate was 13.6%, which was 28.4% lower than that of the PVDF-coated Fe plate, showing improved anti-corrosion protection.
The goal of this study is to provide basic data to establish a foundation for the provision of safe drinkable water. The raw water of natural mineral water was analyzed to determine the quantities of anions (F-, Cl-, NO3-N-, and SO42- ) and cations (Ca2+, K+, Mg2+, and Na+) during the former and latter half of 2016. Analysis of the current quality of the raw water of natural mineral water among domestic manufacturers showed average anions contents of 0.46mg/L of fluorine, 8mg/L of chlorine ion, 1.5mg/L of nitrate nitrogen, and 12mg/L of sulfate ion. While the fluorine content was greater than the water quality criterion of 2.0mg/L at four points, the fluorine level was overall stable. The average cations contents included 21.3mg/L of calcium, 1.0mg/L of potassium, 3.4mg/L of magnesium, and 9.6mg/L of sodium. The chemical characteristics were compared among the major ions, and the results are presented in a piper diagram. The content ratio of cations was in the order of Ca2+> Na+>Mg2+>K+, whereas that of anions was in the order of SO42->Cl->NO3-N->F-. While the cations were slightly scattered, the anions were generally concentrated except for at a few points. The Ca-Na-HCO3 type was dominant overall in water sources from diorite, gneiss, and granite, while the Na-Mg-Ca-HCO3-Cl type was dominant in basalt sources. Mineral water manufacturers source their water under various conditions, including in-hole casing, excavation depth, and contact state of bedrock; even within the same rocky area, some differences in the water quality type can occur. When the depth of the water source was taken into account, the mean anions contents of F-, Cl-, NO3-N-, and SO42- were similar, with no significant differences according to depth. Of the cations, K+ and Na+ showed no significant differences across all the tubular wells, whereas Ca2+ and Mg2+ decreased in content with depth.
The purposes of this study are to understand characteristic water-rock interaction mechanisms of groundwater in the granite area of Geochang and Hapcheon areas, Gyeongnam-do and to clarify the origin of fluoride. The possible water-rock interaction process and the source of fluorine were studied using water chemistry, rock chemistry, mineralogy by XRD, and microtexture analysis by backscattered electron image of the electron microprobe. No clear relationships between F and hardness was found. But the fluorine content increases to some extent with pH and well depth. Preferential alteration due to water-rock interaction took place along edges or cleavage, or margins of biotite. Because biotite is highly subject to alteration in granite aquifer, fluorine in groundwater is originated from the leaching of biotite.

Chemical composition and status of chemical bonding of the YAG($Y_3Al_5O_{12}$) ceramics after the exposure to fluorine plasma have been investigated using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, with the analysis on its erosion behavior. On the surface, F showed the maximum content, decreasing with depth, meanwhile the cation composition remained almost constant, irrespective of the position. The peaks due to Y in the reaction layer consisted of two kinds, showing the Y-O and Y-F bonds. These surface modifications under fluorine plasma seem to promote the erosion of the YAG ceramics. Excess addition of $Al_2O_3$ or $Y_2O_3$ into stoichiometric YAG produced 2nd phases of $Al_2O_3$ and $YAlO_3$, respectively, resulting in the slight difference in the local erosion rates. But, the overall average erosion rate was not sensitive to such excess additions of $Al_2O_3$ or $Y_2O_3$.
