  • 316L and 420 Stainless steels were deposited onto AZ9ID commercial magnesium alloy by plasma spray process with various gas flow rate of, TEX>$H_2$ secondary gas. And hardness as well as were track volume, coefficient of friction also had been measured. wear and hardness were measured by using reciprocal configuration tribometer and microghardness tester, respectively. Also, the microstructure of the coatings surface the cross sectional area of coating surface and cross sectional area of coaing/Substrate interface had been analyzed with Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM) and Optical microscope(OM). Finally, optimal process parameters for the improvement of coating efficiency such as mechanical property and wear behavior were examined.

  • In general, the hollow jet valve, the fixed cone valve had been used for the urgency released or maintenance of the flow rate. Nowadays, the butterfly valve, the gate valve are applied in economic performance and operation maintenance more than the hollow jet valve, the fixed cone valve. However, in the case of butterfly valve, it should be required the strict application standard to the cavitation coefficient because the structural axis and disk were situated in pipe channel and the occurring the shock problem by Karman Vortex. Therefore, there were investigated the valve cavitation and accident investigation by field survey to establish the applicable extensibility of the urgency released valve as the preliminary study.

  • Aluminum alloy has not only physical characteristic of very high activated high thermal conductivity and high thermal coefficient expansion but also special characteristic of great difference fusibility of hydrogen between liquid and solid phase. Because of these reasons, Aluminum welding is very different. Therefore, only MIG welding method should be applied instead of other welding methods. In this study, in order to select optimal welding conditions, it has been to investigate the effectiveness on the welding current, welding speed, flow rate of gas and welding voltage to occurrence of spatters, external shape of bead, state of penetration and width and hight of bead by using filer metal of A15356(dia. 1.21mm) on the base material of A16061.

  • The experimental study was carried out to evaluate the heat transfer performance on the shell side of shell-and-plate finned tube heat exchanger with three different tube numbers(9, 13 and 19). Oil flowing on the shell side was cooled by cold water flowing inside the tubes. A shell-and-tube heat exchanger of an oil cooler consisted of one shell pass and two tube passes with the inner tube diameter of 8.82 mm and the tube length of 575 mm. Mass flow rate was varied from 1.2 to $6.0\;m^3/h$ for oil and from 0.6 to $3.0\;m^3/h$ for cold water, respectively. From the experiment of shell-and-plate finned tube heat exchanger, the shell side heat transfer coefficient of heat exchanger with 9 tubes was compared with that of 13 and 19 tubes. It was found that the heat exchanger with 9 plate finned tubes showed more performance of heat transfer than that of 13 and 19 tubes.

  • The performance of louver-finned flat-tube radiators for computer CPU liquid cooling were experimentally investigated. In this study, 5 samples of louver-finned flat-tube radiators with different width size (19mm, 24mm), tube hole (1, 9) and pass number (1, 2, 5) were tested in a wind tunnel. The experiments were conducted under the different air velocity ranging from 1 to 5 m/s. The water flow rate through a pass was 1.7 LPM. Inlet temperatures of air and water were $20^{\circ}C$ and $30^{\circ}C$ respectively. The results showed that the best performance in the 24mm sample considering pressure drop and heat transfer coefficient.

  • Experiments have been conducted in order to make comparisons of a alternative refrigerant (R-410A) cycle characteristic with an existing refrigerant (R-22) cycle characteristic in terms of cooling capacity and coefficient of performance (COP). The parameters examined in the present work include air flow rate, indoor/outdoor air temperatures, and indoor relative humidity. These two refrigeration cycles share all components except compressor, accumulator, oil separator, and piping connecting them. The measurements were made using an air-enthalpy calorimeter. The experimental results show that the R-410A cycle has many advantages over indoor conditions while the R-22 cycle has better performance over outdoor conditions.

  • Most existing theories on ship waves and wave resistance are based on the perturbation of the flow field by a small pararr.eter which specifies the slenderness of the ship hull. Since however, ship hulls in practice are neither so slender nor thin enough to secure the validity of the linearized theory, the agreen:ent between the theoretical prediction and the experimental result is not generally satisfactory. The author pointed out that the contribution by the non-linear term in the free surface condition can be represented by sorr.e source distribution over the still water plane. This paper leads to a forrr.ula for the wave resistance of not slender ships at low Froude nurr.bers. and deals with the asynptotic expression. As a nurr.erical example, the wave resistance of Wigley model is calculated, and the result is compared with experimental values. It is concluded that the wave resistance coefficient varies in the rate of Fn6 at low speed limit in general. A comparison with the result derived from the linearized free surface condition shows that the non-linearity of the free surface is irr portant at low speed.

  • This computational investigation of micro-sized particle dispersion concerns the fume particle contamination over target surface in high-precision laser line machining process of semiconductor and display device materials. Employing the random sampling based on probabilistic fume particle generation distributions, the effects of sphericity for nonspherical fume particles are analyzed for the fume particle dispersion and contamination near the laser machining line. The drag coefficient correlation for nonspherical particles in a low Reynolds number regime is selected and utilized for particle trajectory simulations after drag model validation. When compared to the corresponding results by the assumption of spherical fume particles, the sphericity of nonspherical fume particles show much less dispersion and contamination characteristics and it also significantly affects the particle removal rate in a suction air flow patterns.

  • In this paper, using a transfer function-based analytical model, major factors influencing the acoustics and combustion instability in a two-stage duct system composed of a nozzle and a combustor were derived and their quantitative effects were evaluated. From the acoustic analysis, it was confirmed that the change in reflection coefficient and mean flow could have a great influence on the instability growth rate, and the area ratio and speed of sound ratio between the nozzle and the combustor are also key parameters to determine combustion instability as well as flame transfer functions.
