A System Dynamics Approach to the Electronic Commerce and Its Implication

  • In this paper an attempt is made to understand contribution factors in the field of electronic commerce(EC). To do that, we adopt and modify an existing commerce model. The following two major conclusions are drawn from our simulation. Most of all, the diminution of information delay introduce monotonous growth rather than fluctuation of EC market. The stable increase of revenue or market scale makes us decide the employment or capacity scale quickly. Second, for favorable and continuous evolution of EC, utilization system of electronic money should be established steadily. The following findings strongly support our claim: We found full oscillation of EC market when electronic money system didn't established well. On the contrary, if electronic money system could provide fast cash flow and fully trustful function, decisions of company or consumer would be executed promptly.

  • This paper investigates the effects of outdoor pressure fluctuations on natural ventilation through openings of a building envelope. The ventilation airflow rate depends on the magnitude and the period of the pressure fluctuations, the size of the opening compared to the space volume, and the resistance characteristics of the opening. Non-dimensional parameters have been derived, which determine indoor pressure responses due to outdoor pressure fluctuations. The flow regions are categorized into synchronized region, opening resistance region, and transition region depending on the non-dimensional parameters.

  • A model for the transient one-dimensional moisture movement in the saturated-unsaturated zone using a finite difference method is developed. Hysteresis in the soil water retention is incorporated. The model considers layered geologic formations. Monte Carlo simulation, together with the nearest neighbor model is used. Outputs of the model include pressure head, water content, and the water table elevation. Two Monte Carlo simulations of 100 realizations each are made for a 12-day simulation period with different input values. The simulation results show that the S.D. of the outputs increases with an increase in the input, the S.D. of the log K$$. The model is applied to predict a long term water table fluctuation, and the predicted water table agress well with the observed one.

  • A artificial neural network model was developed to analyze and forecast the flow fluctuation at small streams in the Balan watershed. Backpropagation neural networks were found to perform very well in forecasting daily streamflows. In order to deal with slow convergence and an appropriate structure, two algorithms were proposed for speeding up the convergence of the backpropagation method, and the Bayesian Information Criterion(BIC) was proposed for obtaining the optimal number of hidden nodes. From simulations using daily flows at the HS#3 watershed of the Balan Watershed Project, which is 412,5 ㏊ in size and relatively steep in landscape, it was found that those algorithms perform satisfactorily.

  • This study has investigated the relationship between heat release fluctuations and the flow perturbations in a partially premixed gas turbine combustor using a commercial CFD code. Special focus of the current work is placed on the effect of equivalence ratio on the flame dynamics in a partially-premixed system. As the first step for this combustion dynamics study in the non-perfectly premixed combustor, flame behaviors are modeled and then compared with measured results under both steady and unsteady conditions. The calculated results of the flame transfer function with equivalence ratio fluctuation are found to well capture the main qualitative characteristics of the combustion dynamics for the partially-premixed flames.

  • A numelical model has been developed for the permeable coastal structures to simulate hydraulic characteristics on the permeable slopes, which interact with internal flow field of the structures. The model includes hydraulics in the porous medium. Numerical model was calibrated using hydraulic model experiments performed in 2-D wave flume in the Institute of Orean Hydraulics in PKNU. Good agreement were obtained with the model which employed inertia resistance term than with the conventional model, PBREAK.

  • A geortor type pump is widely used in lubrication and actuator systems. Especially the pump is an essential machine element of an automotive engine to feed lubrication oil and power source of automatic transmission. A gerotor is a planar mechanism consist of a pair of rotor and circular tooth of stator assembly which forms a closed space. However, related industries do not have necessary technology to design and optimize the pump and paid royalties of gerotor profile on an advanced company. Also, gerotor profiles with setting design parameter have not been sufficiently analyzed from a theoretical view. Therefore, it is very difficult for designer to decide the specifications of the gerotor profiles, and calculation and fluctuation of flow rate is not yet confirmed. In this study, theoretical analyses and optimal design of the gerotor profiles have been performed numerical method by mathematical base. An automated design system of the tooth profile has been developed through MATLAB GUI Program considering various design parameters.

  • This paper deals with a thrust generation on flapping-airfoil by dynamic stall. Dynamic stall refers to a series of complicated aerodynamic phenomena accompanied by a stall delay in unsteady motion. In most cases, once it occurs, the dynamic stall may lead to an abrupt fluctuation of aerodynamic forces. An inverse $k\acute{a}rm\acute{a}n$ vortex has been considered as a main reason for a thrust generation. In this paper, however, we have found out that a thrust is closely related to reduced frequency and leading edge vortex in addition to inverse Karman vortex. In order to certify our opinion, picking and plunging motions were calculated with the parameter of amplitude and frequency by using the unsteady, incompressible Navier-Stokes flow solver with a two-equation turbulence model. For more efficient computation, it is parallelized by MPI programming method.

  • 이중연소 램제트 엔진의 연소기 내부의 연소 현상을 이해하기 위하여 gas generator를 포함하고 있는 이중연소 램제트 엔진의 연소기에 대한 비정상 연소 수치해석을 수행하였다. Gas generator의 당량비 변화에 따른 연소기 내 유동의 변화를 파악하였으며, 주요 위치에서의 압력거동을 분석하고 연소기 전 영역에서의 음향모드를 분석하여 본 연구에 사용된 연소기의 동적거동을 파악하였다.

  • In order for studying pressure-coupled dynamic responses of droplet vaporization, open-loop experiment of an isolated droplet vaporization exposed to pressure perturbations in stagnant gaseous environment is numerically conducted. Governing equations are solved for flow parameters at gas and liquid phases separately and thermodynamic parameters at the interfacial boundary are matched for problem closure. For high-pressure effects, vapor-liquid interfacial thermodynamics is rigorously treated. A series of parametric calculations in terms of mean pressure level and wave frequencies are carried out employing a n-pentane droplet in stagnant gaseous nitrogen. Results show that wave instability in view of pressure-coupled vaporization response seems more susceptible at higher pressures and higher wave frequencies. Mass evaporation rate responding to pressure waves is amplified with increase in pressure due to substantial reduction in latent heat of vaporization. Augmentation of perturbation frequency also enhances amplification due to the reduction of phase differences between pressure perturbation and surface temperature fluctuation.
