With the development of the technology of underwater moving bodies, the need for developing the knowledge of surface effect interaction of free surface and underwater moving bodies is increased. Hence, the two-phase flow is a subject which is interesting for many researchers all around the world. In this paper, the non-linear free surface deformations which occur during the water-exit of a circular cylinder due to its buoyancy are solved using finite volume discretization based code, and using Volume of Fluid (VOF) scheme for solving two phase flow. Dynamic mesh model is used to simulate dynamic motion of the cylinder. In addition, the effect of cylinder mass in presence of an external force is studied. Moreover, the oblique exit and entry of a circular cylinder with two exit angles is simulated. At last, water-exit of a circular cylinder in six degrees of freedom is simulated in 3D using parallel processing. The simulation errors of present work (using VOF method) for maximum velocity and height of a circular cylinder are less than the corresponding errors of level set method reported by previous researchers. Oblique exit shows interesting results; formation of waves caused by exit of the cylinder, wave motion in horizontal direction and the air trapped between the waves are observable. In 3D simulation the visualization of water motion on the top surface of the cylinder and the free surface breaking on the front and back faces of the 3D cylinder at the exit phase are observed which cannot be seen in 2D simulation. Comparing the results, 3D simulation shows better agreement with experimental data, specially in the maximum height position of the cylinder.

Recently, research and commercialization related to the field of cell-based therapeutic drug development has been actively conducted. In order to maintain cell viability and prevent contamination, refrigeration preservation devices, such as CRF (controlled rate freezer) or vapor type LN2 tanks have been developed. On the other hand, the storage container for liquid nitrogen tanks currently on sale minimizes the flow structure to prevent structural defects when stored in a liquid nitrogen tank having a high thermal conductivity than vapor nitrogen. If the cell-based treatment drug is stored in the gaseous LN2 tank as it is, the cell survival after thawing is greatly reduced. It was estimated that the existing storage container structure was a factor that prevented the rapid entry and circulation of gaseous nitrogen into the container. Therefore, this study intends to propose a new supercellular storage container model that can maintain the mechanical strength while maximizing the fluid flow structure. To this end, we estimated that the structural change of the storage container effects on the equivalent stress formed around the through-holes of them when exposed to a cryogenic environment using thermal-structural coupled field analysis. As a result of storage experiments in the gas phase tank of the cell-based therapeutic agent using the developed storage container, it was confirmed that the cell growth rate was improved from 66% to 77%, which satisfied the transportation standards of the FDA(Food and Drug Administration) cell-based therapeutic agent.

As a part of the ITS, the traffic information system is more widely adopted to deliver traffic information to vehicle drivers via various types of media. As the ITS system establishment has been recognized as somewhat accomplished, the focus has shifted to the efficient operation and maintenance of the system. In this paper, we propose a method for evaluating a VMS traffic information service system from a user's perspective. In particular, relational expressions for the level of information provided and the level of user satisfaction are generated for the evaluation to take place from the user psychological satisfaction aspect of all other beneficial features of the system. As continuous flow facility is the one that has limited entry and exit, the traffic information of VMS plays a significant role for vehicle drivers to make their decisions. A method suggested in this paper could be used for evaluating an existing system as well as setting up the target service level of the system of a new system. If individual system properties are considered along with various VMS functions being as supplement of this research, more systematic evaluation method could be arranged.
Recently, many studies have been undertaken regarding the of introduction at roundabout in Korea. The studies related to roundabout capacity, however, is insufficient. Thus, the goal of this study is to develop a capacity model based on real data. The main results are as follows. First, roundabout capacity in Korea was analyzed using HCM capacity model based on critical gap and following time estimated by Probit model. Entry capacity in Korea was evaluated to be similar to that of the U.S in the case of low circulating flow($Q_c$), but higher in the case of high circulating flow($Q_c$). Second, the basic capacity models in Korea were newly developed based on real traffic data. Third, models that consider geometric structure were developed based on the basic models. Finally, all of the developed models mentioned above were analyzed to be statistically significant.

Although the advance in electronic technology enables a large number of circuity to be packed in a small volume, it is simultaneously required to remove the high heat load produced by them. In this study, the heat transfer and pressure drop characteristics of a mini-channel heat exchanger, which is designed for liquid cooling of electronic components, are investigated by varying operating conditions. Water and FC-72 were used as working fluids. The mini-channel heat exchanger was made with circular shape channels having din-meters of 2, 3, and 4 mm in regular intervals, and the channel length was 100 mm. The header and inlet guide pathway to provide uniform inflow were attached at the inlet of the test section. Copper block including the heaters was attached at the sidewall of the test section as a heat source, which provided the heat flux from 5 to $15W/cm^2$. The entrance effects enhanced the heat transfer coefficient in the mini-channel significantly. In addition, the single-phase pressure drop in the mini-channel was very similar to that predicted by the laminar flow correlation except that the transition Re decreased due to flow instability in the entrance region.

Purpose: In response to the rapid spread of COVID-19 in 2020, the government supported facilities and equipment through the 'Urgent Isolation Ward Expansion Project'. Design and remodeling of efficient negative pressure isolation facilities had to be done in a short period of time, and the performance gap between facilities was very large because the types of hospitals and wards of existing medical facilities were diverse. In order to secure the stability of isolation wards between medical facilities and reduce the facility gap, guidelines for planning isolation wards considering the diversity of each hospital should be appropriately presented. In consideration of these points, this study aims to provide basic data for future remodeling guidelines for each plan type of the negative pressure isolation ward first. Methods: We analyzed the plans before and after the change of 13 case hospitals that performed the urgent care bed expansion project for COVID-19 confirmed patients. Before the remodeling, the current status of the facility was analyzed according to the type of corridor, the location of the nursing station, and the location of the elevator. After remodeling, the flow of medical staff and patients, the flow of entry and exit of clean and contaminated items, and the space of negative pressure and non-negative pressure areas. Results: The ward type was divided into three types according to the corridor type and room arrangement: double loaded corridor type with two side wards, race track type with one side ward, and race track type with two side wards. Based on these three types, the standard floor plan type of the isolation ward was proposed in terms of the location of the elevator bank and Nurse station. Implications: When the existing general ward is converted into a negative pressure isolation ward, this study can be a basic data to present customized guidelines for each ward type.
In order to treat flow problems for unsaturated soils, it is necessary to obtain the soil-water characteristic curves which show nonlinear relationship between metric suction and volumetric water content. With two different pleasuring devices, measurements of the matric suction were taken for Jumoonjin sand, Hangang sand, and weathered granite soils with different fined. Experimental parameters which can describe experimental formulas for the soil-water characteristics were determined by using the data obtained from the experiment. Among experimental formulas of previous researchers, that of van Genuchten(1980) agreed well with the results of experiments. For weathered granite soils, the parameters increased with the increase of fine contents, Therefore, the soil-water characteristic for a weathered soil can be estimated by using Parameters corresponding to its fine contents.

This article presents a numerical and experimental investigation for the single-phase forced laminar convective heat transfer through arrays of micro-channels in micro heat exchangers to be used for cooling power-intensive semiconductor packages, especially the stacked multi-chip modules. In the numerical analysis, a parametric study was carried out for the parameters affecting the efficiency of heat transfer in the flow of coolants through parallel rectangular micro-channels. In the experimental study, the cooling performance of the micro heat exchanger was tested on prototypes of stacked multi-chip modules with difference channel dimensions. The simulation results and the experiment data were acceptably accordant within a wide range of design variations, suggesting the numerical procedure as a useful method for designing the cooling mechanism in stacked multi-chip packages and similar electronic applications.
The purpose of this study is to analyse existing hysteresis models and to propose a new type of model. The existing hysteresis models are classified by three types: interpolation model, scaling model and domain model, of which the domain model is based on the theoretical approach. Models which need one branch of hysteresis loop for calibration are developed based on the independent domain concept, however, they are not successful to accurately simulate the real data and Rubicon Sandy Loam and Dune Sand. There is a possibility that a new model is based on the dependent domain model considering the pore blockage effect against air entry for homogeneous porous media(modelIII-1, Mualem, 1984). Concludingly, a new type of hysteresis model is proposed by simplifying ModelIII-1 using a proper assumption.
Environmental downtime produces a significant cost to organizations and makes them unable to do business because what happens in the data center affects everyone. In addition, the amount of electrical energy consumed by data centers increases with the amount of computing power installed. Installation of physical Information Technology and facilities related to environmental concerns, such as monitoring temperature, humidity, power, flood, smoke, air flow, and room entry, is the most proactive way to reduce the unnecessary costs of expensive hardware replacement or unplanned downtime and decrease energy consumed by servers. In this paper, we present remote system for monitoring datacenter implementing using open-source hardware platforms; Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and the Gobetwino. The sensed data displayed through Arduino are transferred using Gobetwino to the nearest host server such as temperature, humidity and distance every time an object hitting another object or a person coming in entrance. The raspberry Pi records the sensed data at the remote location. The objective of collecting temperature and humidity data allows monitoring of the server's health and getting alerts if things start to go wrong. When the temperature hits $50^{\circ}C$, the supervisor at remote headquarters would get a SMS, and then they would take appropriate actions to reduce electrical costs and preserve functionality of servers in data centers.
