  • In this paper, we design a PCI Express controller for future communication system The controller supports the full functionality of Transaction Layer and Data Link Layer of PCI Express. The designed controller has the proposed transmitter buffer architecture to obey Replay mechanism. This scheme merges the transmitting buffer and the replay buffer. The proposed buffer has the higher data transfer efficiency than the conventional buffer architecture because it can dynamically adjust size of a replay buffer space. We also design transmitter of Transmitter Transaction Layer to effectively support the proposed buffer, The receiver device of PCI Express must possess the buffer for three types of transaction to support Flow Control. And it must report the amount of the buffer space regularly to the Port at the opposite end of the link. We propose the simple receiver buffer scheme using only one buffer to easily support Flow Control. And the designed controller is verified under proposed test bench

  • In this paper, we propose controller to control the acceleration of unmanned aircraft turbojet engine. The high-gain observer to estimate the rotational speed of compressor is used, and the turbojet engine controller applying fuzzy heuristic techniques and PID control algorithm are designed. fuzzy PID controller produces the flow control input to prevent the surge and flame-out phenomena at the acceleration and deceleration of the turbojet engine. The standard acceleration is set and the fuel flow control is defined by the fuzzy heuristic. Computer simulations are performed using MATLAB in order to verify the performance of the proposed controller.

  • In this paper, a voltage controller for the seamless transition of a grid-connected inverter for ESS is proposed. The single-phase inverter is operated as a current controller when the grid is connected and as a voltage controller in the stand-alone mode when the grid is disconnected. Generally, in the case of grid recovery, the overcurrent may flow into the system because of the mismatch phase between the inverter output and grid voltages. The proposed controller resolves the overcurrent problem through phase delay problems with initial value feed-forward control of the integrator when the grid voltage is restored. The effects of the control method are simulated through PSIM, and the usefulness of the control method is verified through experiments.

  • A nonlinear control algorithm for the depth control of underwater vehicles is presented. In order to consider the deadzone effect of the flow control valve, a nonlinear fuzzy logic controller (FLC) is synthesized and combined with a linear proportional-derivative-acceleration (PDA) controller, which is called the PDA/FLC controller. And to show the effectiveness of the PDA/FLC control system, it is compared with the linear PDA control system through computer simulation. It is found that the PDA/FLC control system is suitable one to maintain the desirable depth of underwater vehicles with deadzone.

  • Factors leading to poor control of the steam generator in a nuclear power plant are nonminimum phase characteristics, unreliable of flow measurements and nonlinear characteristics, which increase more at low power(below 20%) operation. And the study of problems for water level control in the steam generator is that design water level controller only power renge, not entire. This paper introduces a model predictive control(MPC) algorithm for solving poor control factors and quadratic programming(QP) for solving input constraints. Also presents the design method of stable model predictive controller in the entire power range. The simulation results show the efficiency of proposed MPC controller by comparing with PI controller, and effect of the design parameters.

  • This paper describes a controller design and dynamic performance analysis of UPFC based on 3-level inverters. Major attention is focused on the controller design for both shunt and series inverters, including regulator design for the dc link voltage sharing across the dc capacitors. An energy-based approach was investigated for effectively designing the controller. A detailed UPFC model has been developed with EMTP using 24-pulse 3-level inverters to verify this approach. Simulation results about dynamic performance of UPFC confirm effects for increasing transmission capacity and damping low-frequency oscillation. The developed simulation model would be very effective to analyze the dynamic performance of UPFC.

  • Arrival management is a tool which provides efficient flow of traffic and reduces ATC workload by determining aircraft's sequence and schedules while they are in cruise phase. As a decision support tool, arrival management should advise on air traffic control service based on the understanding of human factor of its user, air traffic controller. This paper proposed a prediction model for air traffic controller sequencing strategy by analyzing the historical trajectory data. Statistical analysis is used to find how air traffic controller decides the sequence of aircraft based on the speed difference and the airspace entering time difference of aircraft. Logistic regression was applied for the proposed model and its performance was demonstrated through the comparison of the real operational data.

  • The heat transfer model of ondol heating system is derived in the linear form. The step responses of On-Off controller, PID controller and Position type fuzzy controllers are compared in the sense of several aspects : variation of temperature feedback variable, variation of supplied heat quantity by the boiler, variation of flow rate, variation of thickness of the base, variation of the outdoor temperature.

  • As the analysis and design technologies for electro-magnetic actuation has advanced over the years, proportional solenoid valve is gaining acceptance in wide range of industrial and commercial applications because of its superior characteristics over the conventional AOV or MOV, such as improved performance, reduced maintenance costs. This research deals with the position controller design of two-stage flow control solenoid valve. Investigation of steady-state characteristics and dynamic model identification for pilot disc is performed. Least square method to minimize the error magnitude of frequency response between the closed-loop and target system is applied to the design of PI-controller gains. From the experiments of step and frequency response, it is concluded that the controller meets the performance specification of target system, which verifies the usefulness of controller design method for proportional solenoid valve.

  • A large wind farm can be simplified by the aggregated wind farm models for load flow, steady and transient stability studies. When a fault (such as a short circuit) happens in a large wind farm, some of wind turbines trip while others do not. This paper is to design a controller to modify the aggregated wind farm model in the case of one or more unit removed or added from the complete model. This is without stopping the simulation process during performing the steady state and transient analysis of the whole system. This controller can modulate the status of the wind turbines in the aggregated model in a given farm according to any change in this farm. By this controller, we save effort and time to change the status of wind turbines in the aggregated model. The proposed wind farm is composed of some smaller farms of permanent magnet synchronous generators (PMSGs) and others of squirrel cage induction generators (SCIGs).
