  • A practical method of surge simulation in a system of a high-pressure-ratio multistage axial flow compressor and ducts, named SRGTRAN, is described about the principal procedures and the details. The code is constructed on the basis of one-dimensional stage-by-stage modeling and application of fundamental equations of mass, momentum, and energy. An example of analytical result on surge behaviors is included as an experimental verification. It will enable to examine the transient flow phenomena caused by possible compressor surges and their influences on the system components in plant systems including high-pressure-ratio axial compressors or gas turbines.

  • Various types of numerical modeling techniques are used to predict the behavior of pollutants under various water environmental conditions in the event of a water pollutant accident. Among them, a hydraulic model that can consider water flow characteristics is the most basic and very important. The process of evaluating whether the hydraulic model accurately predicts the applied river characteristics is very important. In the verification of the modeling result, the measuring data are often used in the river. Currently, ADCP and FlowTrackers are widely used to measure the flow velocity of rivers. However, ADCP is not accurate when the depth is less than 0.6 m and also when the ratio of irreversibility near the surface is more than 40%. Futhermore, FlowTracker has a limitation in measuring at high depth and high velocity due to the direct measurement method in rivers. Simuation results, which are validated by these methods, are not reliable for low depth conditions of low flowrate and high velocity conditions of high flowrate. In this study, Lagrangian GPS floaters which measures physical quantity of water according to particle movement is used without the conventional method measured by Eulerian technique. The verification method of the model results was studied by comparing the simulation results of the hydraulic model with the velocities measured using the GPS floaters. When comparing the traveling distance of the GPS floaters with the traveling distance of the LPT simulations, the average error rate was 13.6% on distances, and the average error rate was 3.2% on velocities except for the stagnant section. Therefore, GPS floaters can be used for a correction and verification method of hydraulic model simulations.

  • The launch complex(LC) is composed of various facilities. The launch control system that operates remotely those of LC spends much time and labor for developing and verifying its control algorithms. The verification of algorithms is performed by the software developer entering simulated state values based on the test procedure and checking the output result according to the algorithm flow. These verification processes should be performed repeatedly, thus the human errors are easily occurred. In this paper, an efficient automated verification method with a script test procedure is proposed to minimize human errors and shorten the verification duration. We also present the results of the algorithm verification tests for the cases of the compressed gases supply system and the electro pneumatic panel system of LC.

  • UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) have an INS(Inertial Navigation System) equipment and also have an electro-optical Equipment for mission. This paper proposes the vision based attitude estimation algorithm using Kalman Filter and Optical flow for UAV. Optical flow is acquired from the movie of camera which is equipped on UAV and UAV's attitude is measured from optical flow. In this paper, Kalman Filter has been used for the settlement of the low reliability and estimation of UAV's attitude. Algorithm verification was performed through experiments. The experiment has been used rate table and real flight video. Then, this paper shows the verification result of UAV's attitude estimation algorithm. When the rate table was tested, the error was in 2 degree and the tendency was similar with AHRS measurement states. However, on the experiment of real flight movie, maximum yaw error was 21 degree and Maximum pitch error was 7.8 degree.

  • A very important feature in the development of nuclear technology has been and will continue to be the flow of information from nuclear data production to the various applications fields in nuclear technology. Both, nuclear data and this communications flow are defined in this paper. Nuclear data result from specific technical activities including their production, evaluation, processing, verification, validation and applications. These activities are described, focusing on nuclear reactor calculations. Mathematical definitions of different types of nuclear data are introduced, and international forums involved in nuclear data activities are listed. Electronic links to various sources of information available on the web are specified, whenever possible.

  • In general, pipelines at nuclear power plants are affected by various types of degradation mechanisms and may be ruptured after gradually thinning. FAC (Flow-Accelerated Corrosion) is typical aging mechanism affecting the secondary side piping system. In Korea nuclear power plants, CHECWORKS program have been used for management of wall thinning damages. However, sometimes, CHECWORKS program shows wrong results at the stage of NFA (Network Flow Analysis) in case of complex pipelines. This paper describes the calculation results of pressure drop in a complex pipeline and single line by using the CHECWORKS program and the analysis results are compared with those of engineering calculation results including errors between them.

  • A general purpose program, TURBO-3D, for the analysis of 3-D fluid flow in complex geometry has been developed, which employs a standard $k-\varepsilon$ turbulence model and a general nonorthogonal grid system. For the purpose of verification of the program and testing the applicability, turbulent flows in an S-shaped diffuser and turbulent flows over an backward facing step are solved and compared with the earlier results. Comparison with the results by the STAR-CD program has been also made for the same flow configuration and grid structure. The agreements are excellent and hence the program has been verified. Since the present program is applicable only on limited flow phenomena and lacks the pre-and post processor, further improvements toward these directions are being made.

  • This study is about the distributions of flow in an air conditioning duct used for marine and oil drilling ships. Three-dimensional steady state turbulence was assumed as a governing equation for describing the flow in the air conditioning duct in this study. We compared the flow field with the pressure distribution according to the inlet velocity for two types of air conditioning duct, and stress and safe factors were simulated using ANSYS W/B. The result of fluid analysis showed an increased pressure drop in the duct according to the inlet velocity. Furthermore, secondary flow and complicated flow characteristics occurred at the bellows zone.

  • This study focus on verification of the thermal efficiency of volumetric receiver with $5kW_{th}$ Dish-type solar thermal system. Spiral flow path shaped on receiver and working fluid(steam) flow along the this flow path. Porous material for radiation-thermal conversion used in former researches are substituted with the stainless steel wall installed along the spiral shaped flow path. Numerical analysis for the flow path and temperature distributions are carried out. Numerical results are compared with experimental data. • An ejector is designed for the purpose of engine bay cooling. The primary flow of the ejector is the exhaust gas of the PW206C turboshaft engine. The mass flow of secondary flow is calculated by using the approximate analytic equation. For the purpose of verification of approximate analytic method, comparison is made with the results of Navier-Stokes turbulent flow solution. According to the results of CFD, the mixing of two flows is incomplete due to the short length of mixing duct.
