Dedicated outdoor air-conditioning(DOA) system that utilizes pre-cooling and desiccant dehumidification can be superior to conventional cooling and reheating system with respect to energy consumption and indoor thermal comfort. In this work, simulation has been conducted to study various factors that affect the performance of DOA. Dynamic simulation shows the transient variation of temperature and humidity as the on/off control logic is imposed. Exit humidity of process air and flow rate are varied to study the effect on exit temperature of process air, dehumidification quantity, required regeneration temperature and exit humidity of regeneration air. For an outdoor air condition of $28.5^{\circ}C$ temperature, 16 g/kg humidity ratio and 2000 cmh flow rate, the dehumidification efficiency is increased by 4.6% as the flow rate is doubled.

Fin-tube evaporator for carbon dioxide has been investigated both by experiment and simulation. Inside refrigerant heat transfer and outside heat and mass transfer of a wet surface heat exchanger were modeled using appropriate correlations. The results estimated by the calculation were in good agreement with the experimental results. The simulation errors were less than 7.9% for estimating capacity, 0.6$^{\circ}C$ for air exit temperature, 1.2% for air exit humidity and 17% for $CO_2$ exit pressure. The simulation program was used to study the effect of air flow direction, number of rows and refrigerant circuits. For a 2-row evaporator, parallel flow showed better performance for low air velocity but for high air velocity, counter-flow was better. Refrigerant circuits, however, showed insignificant effect on the performance.
Flow field downstream of an inducer was measured to see the flow and performance characteristics of a turbopump inducer. A large axisymmetric collector instead of a volute casing was installed to obtain circumferentially uniform flow - without interaction of the inducer and the volute. A conventional 3-hole probe was used to measure the flow. At inducer exit axial component of absolute velocity decreased on hub region with decrease in flow rate. Tangential velocity component static pressure, and total pressure increased from hub to tip. Relative flow angle from tangential direction was a little higher than outlet blade angle at flow coefficient $\varphi$=0.087 and 0.073. Dynamic pressure was $53\%$ of the mean total pressure at inducer exit at $\varphi$=0.073.
Extrusion is one of the most important operations in the polymer-processing industry. Balancing the distribution of flow through a die to achieve a uniform velocity distribution is the primary objective and one of the most difficult tasks of extrusion die design. If the manifold in a coat-hanger die is not properly designed, the exit velocity distribution may be not uniform; this can affect the thickness across the width of the die. Yet, no procedure is known to optimize the coat hanger die with respect to an even velocity profile at the exit. While optimizing the exit velocity distribution, the constraint optimization used in this work with allowable pressure drop in the die; according to this constraint we can control the pressure in the die. The computational approach incorporates three-dimensional finite element simulations software STAR-CCM+. These simulations are used with numerical optimization to design polymer coat hanger dies with pressure drop, uniform velocity and temperature variation across the die exit.
A wind turbine is one of the most popular energy conversion systems to generate electricity from the natural renewable energy source and an axial-flow type wind turbine is the most popular system for the electricity generation in the wind farm nowadays. In this study, a cross-flow type turbine has been studied for the application of wind turbine for electricity generation. The target capacity of electric power generation of the model wind turbine developing on the project is 12 volts, 130A/H (about 1.56kW). The important design parameters of the model turbine impeller are the inlet and exit angle of the turbine blade, number of blade, hub/tip ratio and the exit flow angle of the casing. In this study, the radial equilibrium theorem was used to decide the inlet and exit angle of the impller blade and CFD technique was used to have the performance analysis of the designed model power turbine to find out the optimum geometry of the CPT impeller and casing. The designed CPT with 24 impeller blades at ${\alpha}=82^{\circ}$, ${\beta}=40^{\circ}$ of turbine blade angle was estimated to generate 284.6 N.m of indicated torque and 2.14kW of indicated power.
In order to reduce the NOx, SCR technology is most suitable. In this study, we focused on studying the injector part of urea-SCR system. When stoichiometric 1 mole of urea is injected, 2 moles of $NH_3$ are created. $NH_3$ causes a SCR reaction by reacting with NOx. However, urea is decomposed by the side reaction of coming out HNCO, deposit formation is formed. In this study, it was to design a nozzle that can spray the optimal spray flow rate. Test nozzle used in this experiment is efferverscent type. The result of the experiment, liquid flow rate was confirmed to be that they are dominated by the exit orifice diameter. The area ratio is defined by ratio of the area of exit orifice hole and that of aerorator. The droplet size was measured by varying the area ratios. In addition, it was also confirmed that there is no change of the liquid flow rate and air flow rate to change the aerorator at the same exit orifice. Further, It was confirmed that the droplet size was relatively uniform even though the area ratio was different. Finally, there is little change in the SMD that air flow rate increases in 0.3 or more ALR.
The present study has been carried out to analyze the flow characteristics in the inlet expasion duct of a heat recovery steam generator by using numerical flow analysis. The inlet of HRSG corresponds the outlet of gas turbine exit and the flow after gas turbine has strong swirl flow and turbulence. The inlet flow condition of HRSG should be included the exit flow characteristics of gas turbine. The present numerical analysis adopted the flow analysis result of gas turbine exit flow as a inlet flow condition of HRSG analysis. Because the flow characteristics in the inlet duct of the tube bank is strongly related to the performance of a HRSG, it is most important for the optimal design of HGSG to understanding the flow phenomena in the inlet duct of HRSG. From the present study, the position of breakpoint in the inlet expansion duct should be lower than the reference breakpoint position for the optimal flow uniformity before the tube bank.

A Finite Volume Method for the discretization of the two-dimensional incompressible Navier-Stokes equation is used to analyse water entry & exit problems in a generalized coordinate system. The free-surface deformations generated by the water entry or exit of a rigid body are simulated by the Level-Set scheme[11]. In the water entry problems for a wedged section and a flared-ship section, the calculation results of water impact force are compared with the experimental results[5] and the time varying free-surface deformations and flow characteristics of the water exit of a cylinder are investigated.

The propagation of the impulse wave discharged from the Inclined exit of a pipe is investigated through shock tube experiment and numerical computations. The pressure histories and directivities of the impulse wave propagating outside from the exit of pipe with several different configurations are analyzed for the range of the incident shock wave Mach number between 1.1 and 1.4. In the shock tube experiments, the impulse waves are visualized by a Schlieren optical system for the purpose of validation of computational work. Computations using the two-dimensional. unsteady, compressible, Euler equations are carried out to represent the experimented impulse waves. Computed Schlieren images predict the experimented impulse waves with a good accuracy. The results obtained show that for the radial direction the peak pressure of the impulse wave discharged depends upon the Inclined angle of the exit of the pipe. but for the axial direction it is almost constant regardless of the inclined angle of the pipe exit.

The flows in an axial flow turbomachine are calculated numerically in the two sets of flow surfaces of H-S and B-B surfaces assuming that the flow is axisymmetric. The calculation is performed by regarding the governing equations as the quasi-Poisson's equations and using the finite element method for the flow regions divided into triangular elements. The results of numerical calculation agree comparatively well with the experimental results and it has been found that the distribution of an axial velocity component at the rotor exit is not necessarily uniform under the influences of the inlet guide vanes and the front shape of the hub even if the rotor is designed by the free-vortex theory. Also it has been found that the existence of the optimum value of the blade number can be estimated from the results of calculation of deviation angles at rotor exit if we consider the viscous flow-loss, and that the flows of B-B surfaces are affected very sensitively by the degree of satisfaction of Kutta condition.
