Infra-red earth sensors(IRES) are accommodated in a geostationary multi-functional satellite, which includes optical payloads for observing the earth, to provide pointing reference for the payloads. Even the slight pointing difference between the IRES and the payloads is so critical from the geostationary orbit that can degrade their imaging performance. Therefore, a dedicated support structure is required to guarantee the stability during the flight operation. This paper shows the design justification for the IRES support structure employed in the Communication, Ocean and Meteorological Satellite(COMS). It intends to give an overall design presentation and to justify that this design is compatible with all the requirements in terms of stiffness and strength as well as the stability.

In this study, the genetic algorithm has been used for the real-time defect diagnosis on the operation of the aircraft gas-turbine engine. The component elements of the gas-turbine engine for consideration of the performance deterioration consist of the compressor, the gas generation turbine and the power turbine. Compared to the on-design point, the teaming data has been increased 200 times in case off-design conditions for the altitude, the flight mach number and the fuel consumption. Therefore, enormous learning time has been required for the satisfied convergence. The optimal division has been proposed for learning time decrease as well as the high accuracy. As results, the RMS errors of the defect diagnosis using the genetic algorithm have been confirmed under 5 %.

According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport press release ('18.12.21.) The amendment of the Aviation Business Act will reduce the capital requirements for aviation leisure operators and make it easier to enter aviation leisure businesses by improving regulations on small air transportation business. In addition, as the scale of the UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) sector is expected to increase globally, the dramatic increase in low altitude operating aircraft, including this, must be taken into account. The low altitude aircraft category is divided into small airplanes, helicopters, light aircrafts and ultra-light aircrafts, and instructors include school instructor pilots and student pilots, military and national helicopter pilots, and aviation leisure operators. In case of low altitude aircraft, there are cases of canceling operations due to low visibility and low clouds, and aircraft accidents due to excessive operation and sudden weather phenomenon. Therefore, in order to prevent low-altitude aircraft accidents, a safe flight plan based on weather conditions and weather forecasts and more accurate and local weather forecasts and weather forecast data are needed to prepare for the rapidly changing weather conditions.
Gust load is a very important load factor in designing various structures of an aircraft and judging its stability. This is because the blast effect on the aircraft in operation increases the risk of damage to the structure of the aircraft and causes a negative impact such as shortening the fatigue life by generating vibration. Particularly in the case of wing, a change in angle of attack is caused by gust load, and an additional lift acts on the wing, thereby being exposed to various excitational environments. Severe structural damage to the aircraft may occur if the natural frequencies of the aircraft wing are close to or coincident with the frequencies of the gust load applied to the wing. Recent trends of research include flight dynamics analysis considering discontinuous gusts or structural optimization of the blades under gust load. A number of studies have been conducted to interpret gust load response in consideration of irregularities in gusts. In this paper, we tried to imagine the situation of the aircraft subjected to the gust load as realistic as possible, and proposed an algorithm to track back the critical gust profile according to given aircraft characteristics from the viewpoint of preliminary engineering prediction.

The purpose of this study is to develop a training scenario for KA-32T helicopter simulator. First, the concept of training scenario are classified into training elements and training information. Secondly, the training elements are defined according to the property of each element: flight phase, situation, and environment. The main mission of KA-32T on the operation of KFS(Korea Forest Service) is the forest fire extinguishment mission, and it is divided into the two disciplines: water supply and water discharge. Finally the mission scenario for two disciplines are defined and developed as the combination of the normal procedures of training scenario and the mission procedures.

There have been CFIT(Controlled Flight Into Terrain) accidents that can be prevented if the crew executed go-around. This study is to analyse the common factors of three typical CFIT accidents of Korea in TEM(threat and error management) frame, and the examples of go-around gate and the countermeasures of eight airlines through the survey facilitating go-around to prevent CFIT. The common factors found in three typical CFIT accidents occurred in Korea or by Korean carriers turned out to be in mountainous terrain, in bad weather while in non-precision approach or circling approach by captain as PF(Pilot Flying) when crew make monitoring errors and communication errors. It also turned out that the crew in all three typical tragic CFIT accidents did not execute go-around in unstabilized approaches. The captains did not respond immediately when first officers advised them to go-around until it is too late. Seven out of eight Airlines answered that they use stabilized approach height as 1,000 feet to be stabilized earlier to have more safety margin by enhancing go-around gate regardless of the weather to prevent CFIT in the survey.

Morphing wing which has a configuration optimized to flight speed and condition is faced to a lot of barriers to be overcome such as actuator technique, structural mechanization technique, flexible skin material, control law, and so on. As the first step for developing a morphing wing with rapid response, we designed and fabricated the morphing airfoil using a SMA(shape memory alloy) wire actuator and torsional bias springs. The design concept of the morphing airfoil was verified through operation test. The measured results show that the flap deflects smoothly and fast.

In this study, we review the ground-based whole-sky camera (WSC), which is developed to continuously capture day and night cloud images using the illumination data from a precision Lightmeter with a high temporal resolution. The WSC is combined with a precision Lightmeter developed in IYA (International Year of Astronomy) for analysis of an artificial light pollution at night and a DSLR camera equipped with a fish-eye lens widely applied in observational astronomy. The WSC is designed to adjust the shutter speed and ISO of the equipped camera according to illumination data in order to stably capture cloud images. And Raspberry Pi is applied to control automatically the related process of taking cloud and sky images every minute under various conditions depending on illumination data from Lightmeter for 24 hours. In addition, it is utilized to post-process and store the cloud images and to upload the data to web page in real time. Finally, we check the technical possibility of the method to observe the cloud distribution (cover, type, height) quantitatively and objectively by the optical system, through analysis of the captured cloud images from the developed device.
In a satellite time management system, the GPS-based clock synchronization technique[1] has the merits of precision time management by knowing the time difference or the error between the OBT(On Board Time) of the internal processors and GPS time every second. It can be realized employing the DPLL(Digital Phase Loop Lock) and FEP(Front End Processor) circuitry for the clock synchronization[2]. In this paper, a refined DPLL & FEP scheme is proposed to provide the precision, stability and robustness of the operation, which is to compensate the errors and noise of the GPS signal, and also to cope with the case when the GPS signal is lost due to several reasons. The simulation and HIL (Hardware In the Loop) test results using the FM(Flight Model) in the course of KOMPSAT-2(Korea Multi Purpose Satellite-2) design and development are illustrated to demonstrate the salient features of this methodology.

In this paper, we researched that setting standard for RSC(Radar Cross Section) of naval surface ship could be determined and considered in various ways on ship's survivability, technical building feasibility, operation and so on. This study presented fundamental capacity on anti-ship missile, radar, flight and so no and the procedure to set of target/standards for RSC. The RCS standards is good at setting low as low as to improve survivability aspect, but because we should consider effect, technical limit, cost etc, this paper analyzed necessary elements to set standard than to suggest specific number and suggested procedure to set standars according to suggest the boundary of RCS.
