It has been only a few years since drones have been introduced to Korea, and as the use of drones has increased in industrial sites as well as in hobby activities, accidents such as workers' body parts coming into contact with rotating propellers have been occurring since 2016. Industrial accident cases are being filed. In the case of a remote control vehicle, if you release the remote controller in the event of an abnormal situation, it stops in place and no further danger occurs but in case of drones flying over the sky is different. Sudden motor stops during flight, uncontrolled changes in flight posture, loss of radio waves, loose propeller, etc, numerous factors can lead to accidents due to unintentional movements. Therefore, drone operators need safety knowledge as well as high knowledge about drones. However, drones with a weight of less than 12 kg can fly without a pilot's certification, and therefore, a minimum accident prevention measure is required. 10 accidents approved as industrial accidents since 2016, 23 accidents surveyed by general drone operator, 40 accidents surveyed by the Korean Consumer Resources Unfortunately for the purpose of writing this paper, drones are a new species and do not have many parameters for analysis but my experience has shown that the type of disaster does not deviate significantly. In addition, there is no paper that analyzes drone related industrial accidents not only in Korea but also in other countries. However, even if you watch an overseas drone accident video through YouTube, it is not much different from the case that occurs in Korea. I hope that this study will be of little help to all the drone pilots as well as the work safety of industrial drones used in industrial sites.
In an effort to decrease aviation accident worldwide, development of aviation safety management has been sought through aviation index and standardization, both by establishing SMS(Safety Management System). It also needs to be done in the domestic. both study on SMS which ICAO recommends and setting the top priority safety goal, each differently classified by nations. Accordingly, defining safety index and developing continuous monitoring approach. Aircraft accident reporting system in Air Force does not operate in a open approach method due to its uniqueness related to mission achievement. Therefore, limits of utilizing the recent worldwide aircraft data sharing and analyzing results to prevent accident is inevitable. This paper introduces an overview of ECCAIRS 5 which become the standard for the recent worldwide aviation safety reporting and data exchange system. Also using ECCAIRS 5, aircraft accident cases of the Air Force are classified such as accident type, year, month, occurrence category, and flight phase. The result of the study will provide a guide line for utilizing the civil system in prevention of future military aviation accidents.
An aircraft collision accident is a disaster that causes great losses of inventories and lives. Though a collision avoidance warning function is provided automatically to pilots in the aircrafts by the enhancement of the aircraft capability, achieving fast decision-making to escape a collision situation is a complex and dangerous work for pilots. If an in-flight collision situation is controlled by the air traffic control system which monitors all airplanes in the air, it would be more efficient to prevent in-flight collisions because it can handle the emergency before the pilot's action. In this paper, we develop the collision avoidance warning function in the air traffic control system. Specifically, we design and implement the five stages of the collision avoidance function, and propose a visualization method which could effectively provide the operators with the trajectories and altitudes of the aircrafts in a collision situation. By developing an in-flight collision warning function in the air traffic control system that visualizes flight patterns through the state transition data of in-flight aircrafts on the flight path lines, it can effectively prevent in-flight collisions with traffic alerts. The developed function allows operators to effectively select and control the aircraft in a collision situation by providing the operators with the expected collision time, the relative distance, and the relative altitude while assessing the level of alert, and visualizing the alert information which includes the Attention-Warning-Alert phase via embodying the TCAS standard. With the developed function the air traffic control system could sense an in-flight collision situation before the pilot's decision-making moment.
There are many studies indicate that human is one of the major contributing factors to the aviation accident. To this end, the Human Factor of pilots and in flight operations has been a popular subject to be studied, however, not of the air traffic controllers. Recently, some States have started studying Human Errors in Air Traffic Control field, removal of the potential errors in advance and prevention of the similar errors. This study analyzed Human Errors in air traffic control in terms of LOSA of airlines, which has been actively studied. This study will contribute to safe Flight Operation and Air Traffic Control.
The overall Air Force's serious accident rate is decreasing, but the trainer's accident rate is on the rise from 0.24% in '00~'09 to 0.77% in '01~'19. Base on the SHELL model recommended by the ICAO, the risk factors of the introductory flight training course were analyzed, implications were examined, and safety promotion measures were proposed. A survey of 25 questions was organized based on regulations, guidelines, and related data for each component of the SHELL model in accordance with the introductory course of Air Force flight training. The survey was divided into a student group and instructor group and compared and analyzed into L-L, L-S, L-H, and L-E based on the results after conducting it, and implications for this were derived. Compared to other analysis factors, L-L showed that the average of the instructor group was relatively higher that of the student group in all questions.
Securing excellent pilots is not only directly linked to the military's improved combat capabilities, but also a way to minimize human and property losses from aircraft accidents. Therefore, a scientific method is needed to diagnose pilot aptitude from the pilot selection process and select those with high accident potential, those who are dropped out of the flight training process, and those who are not suitable for pilot life in advance. Developed countries have implemented pilot aptitude tests to solve these problems early on, but so far, the Korean Army has not introduced a pilot aptitude test system that uses diagnostic tools in the helicopter pilot selection process. Therefore, in this study, scientific diagnostic tools are developed for selecting helicopter pilots, and through this, it is predicted that the number of people who are likely to be dropped out of the training course and who have the potential for accidents will be selected in advance and eliminated in the selection process. In this context, prior research examined the key factors involved in the pilot aptitude test. Through this, the aptitude test items were developed and aptitude tests were conducted on student pilots currently in flight training, and the results of flight training were analyzed.
The study of the safety perceptions between two groups, trained and untrained student pilots were compared as pre-studies of that how the safety perceptions of the flight instructors affect that of the student pilots. As a results, the factors of the communication and the safety procedures shows higher values on the one-year trained group than the other because the trained students get used to the safety procedures which are necessary to the practical training. In reliability for the flight instructor, the factors of two groups show the high tendency without regard to groups. Despite of the lack of the specific research, the result implies that the student pilots are influenced by the safety perceptions of the flight instructors. In addition, the factors of the accident report were investigated as that the trained group has lower mean, however the factors of the receiving penalties of the trained group were higher than the other. These results imply that the trained group feels concern for the penalties and the punishments by reporting the accidents in spite of amounts of the training.
