To obtain aircraft dynamic parameters, various estimation methods such as Maximum Likelihood, Linear Regression are applied. In this paper we adopt the extended Kalman filter(EKF) to estimate the stability and control derivatives in aircraft dynamic models from flight test data. The extended Kalman filter is applied to nonlinear augmented system assuming that unknown parameters are additional states. In this work, the results of the extended Kalman filter are compared with the results of the wind tunnel test using Chang Gong-91 aircraft flight test data.

For an access to specified helicopter simulator qualification's level C or FTD(Flight Training Device) level 5 of FAA(Federal Aviation Administration) AC(Advisory Circular) 120-63, the mathematical model of a single rotor helicopter flight dynamics is investigated. From the rotorcraft simulation model validated by evaluation of its flight performance, the feasibility of the flight dynamic model that is selected for its effectiveness has been proved. Thereby the simulation environment for evaluation of helicopter flying quality is established with the development of FTD for training and testing the flight performance.

Relaxed Static Stability (RSS) concept has been applied to improve aerodynamic performance of modern version supersonic jet fighter aircraft. The T-50 advanced supersonic trainer employs the RSS concept in order to improve the aerodynamic performance. And the flight control system stabilizes the unstable aircraft and provides adequate handling qualities. The T-50 longitudinal control laws employ a proportional-plus-integral type controller based on a dynamic inversion method. The longitudinal dynamic modes consist of short period with high frequency and phugoid mode with low frequency. The design goal of longitudinal control law is optimization of short period damping ratio and frequency using Lower Order Equivalent System (LOES) complying the requirement of MIL-F-8785C. This paper addresses phugoid mode characteristics such as damping ratio and natural frequency that is affected by the nonlinear control laws such as angle of attack limiter, auto pitch attitude command system and autopilot of pitch attitude hold.

The modified maximum likelihood estimation method is used to estimate the nondimensional aerodynamic derivatives of a single turbo-prop aircraft at a specified flight condition for the best deduction of the dynamic characteristics. In wind axes the six degree of freedom equations are algebraically linearized so that the linear state equation contains aerodynamic derivatives in a state-space form and is used in the maximum likelihood method. The simulated data added with the measurement noise is used as a flight test data which is necessary to the estimation of nondimensional aerodynamic derivatives. It is obtained by implementing the 6-DOF nonlinear flight simulation. In the flight simulation, the effects of several control input types, control deflection amplitudes, and the turbulence intensities on the statistical convergence criteria are also examined and quantitative analysis of the results is discussed.

This paper describes the results of applying States and Modes Analysis, one of the requirements analysis techniques, to the development requirements of flight control software for Smart UAV. State/mode table enabled us to investigate various operation and design concepts, and as a result essential requirements for flight control software were established without omitting necessary requirements. Through the use of scenario-specific state transition diagrams, dynamic behaviours and control/response interfaces between each state and mode could been clearly identified, which made it possible to establish requirements related to dynamic behaviours of states and modes which are essential to the design of flight control software.
This research delves into the intricate dynamics of the flight response exhibited by a golf ball that incorporates nanoparticles with the goal of enhancing its overall quality. The golf ball is meticulously modeled utilizing beam elements, and the impact of nanoparticles is intricately captured through the application of the Halpin-Tsai theory. Employing a numerical solution, the study thoroughly explores the flight response of the golf ball, taking into account the nuanced effects of the embedded nanoparticles. By scrutinizing the aerodynamic characteristics through advanced simulations, this investigation aims to provide valuable insights that could potentially revolutionize the design and performance of golf equipment, offering a pathway towards superior quality and enhanced functionality in the realm of golf ball technology. Results show that increase in the volume percent of nanoparticles, improves the flight response of the golf ball.

A Propulsion System of the CRW(Canard Rotor Wing) type UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) was composed of the turbojet engine to generate the propulsive exhaust gas, and the duct system including straight bent ducts, tip-jet nozzles, a master valve and a variable main nozzle for three flight modes such as lift/landing mode, low speed transition flight mode and high speed forward flight mode. In this study, in order to operate safely the propulsion system, the dynamic Performance behavior of the system was modeled and simulated using the SIMULIN $K^{ }$, which is the user-friendly GUI type dynamic analysis tool provided by MATLA $B^{ }$. In the transient performance model, the inter-component volume model was used. The performance analysis using the developed models was performed at various flight condition, valve angle positions and fuel flow schedules, and these results could set the safe flight mode transition region to satisfy the inlet temperature overshoot limitation as well as the compressor surge margin. Performance analysis results using the SIMULIN $K^{ }$ performance program were compared with them using the commercial program GSP.m GSP.

The objective of this paper is to present trajectory guidance and control system with a dynamic inversion for a small unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The UAV model is expressed by fixed-mass rigid-body six-degree-of-freedom equations of motion, which include the detailed aerodynamic coefficients, the engine model and the actuator models that have lags and limits. A trajectory is generated from the given waypoints using cubic spline functions of a flight distance. The commanded values of an angle of attack, a sideslip angle, a bank angle and a thrust, are calculated from guidance forces to trace the flight trajectory. To adapt various waypoint locations, a proportional navigation is combined with the guidance system. By the decision logic, appropriate guidance law is selected. The flight control system to achieve the commands is designed using a dynamic inversion approach. For a dynamic inversion controller we use the two-timescale assumption that separates the fast dynamics, involving the angular rates of the aircraft, from the slow dynamics, which include angle of attack, sideslip angle, and bank angle. Some numerical simulations are conducted to see the performance of the proposed guidance and control system.

Currently, aircraft simulator has drawn a great attention because it has significant advantages of economic, temporal, and spatial costs compared with pilot training with real aircraft. Among the components of the aircraft simulator, flight dynamic model plays a key role in simulating the flight of an actual aircraft. Hence, it is important to verify the fidelity of flight dynamic model with an automated tool. In this paper, we develop a software to automatically verify the fidelity of the flight mechanics model for the efficient development of the aircraft simulator. After designing the software structure and GUI based on the requirements derived from the fidelity verification process, the software is implemented with C # language in Window-based environment. Experimental results on CTSW models show that the developed software is effective in terms of function, performance and user convenience.

This paper proposes a feedback-linearization-based control algorithm for multirotor unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The feedback linearization scheme is highly efficient for considering nonlinearity between the rotational and translational motion of multirotor UAVs. We also propose a dynamic equation that reflects the aerodynamic effects of the vehicles; the equation's parameters can be determined through curve fitting using actual flight data. We derive the feedback linearization controller from the proposed dynamic equation, and propose a Luenberger observer to attenuate measurement noises. The proposed algorithm is implemented using our in-house flight control computer, and we describe its implementation in detail. To investigate the performance of the proposed algorithm, we carry out two flight scenarios: the first scenario, an autonomous landing on a moving platform, is a test of maneuverability; the second, picking up and replacing an object, test the algorithm's accuracy. In these scenarios, the proposed algorithm precisely controls multirotor UAVs, and we confirm that it can be successfully applied to real flight environments.
