Study of Plasma Treatments to Increase Work Function of Multilayer Graphene Film

  • We investigated change of the electronic structure, chemical states and elements ratio in graphene film by using photoelectron spectroscopy (PES). The graphene electrode has attracted considerable interest due to its possible applications in flexible organic light emitting diodes (F-OLEDs). However, to use the graphene for OLEDs, sufficient increase of work function is required, that is related with hole injection barrier. Plasma treatment is one of the most widely used method in OLEDs to increase the work function of the anode such as indium tin oxide (ITO). In this work, we used the plasma treatment, which is generated by various gas types such as O2, and Ar to increase the work function of the graphene film. From these results, we discuss the relation among the change of work function, plasma power, plasma treatment time and gas types.

  • In this paper we describe a simulation and development framework for designing mobile 3D graphics architectures. We are developing a simple and flexible simulation and verification environment (SVE) that uses gITrace's ability to intercept and redirect an OpenGL/ES streams. In combination wlth gITrace to trace OpenGL/ES commands, the SVE simulates the behavior of mobile 3D graphics pipeline during playback of traces, and then produces the second geometry trace that can be used as a test vector for the Verilog/HDL RT-level model. By comparing the frame-by-frame results, we can conduct architectural verification. To demonstrate the functionality of the SVE, we show the implementation of the verified mobile 3D architecture on a FPGA board. For this, we also present an application development environment (ADE) includes a mobile graphics API and a device driver interface (DDI). The proposed two software environments, the SVE and the ADE could be used fer developing and testing mobile applications, architectural study and speculative hardware designs.

고분자 기판위에 다층 구조의 박막형 보호층을 적용한 투습률 향상 (Improvement of Permeation of Applied Multi-layer Encapsulation of Thin Films on Ethylene Terephthalate(PET))

  • In this paper, the inorganic-organic thin film encapsulation layer was newly adopted to protect the organic layer from moisture and oxygen. Using the electron beam, Sputter and Spin-Coater system, the various kinds of inorganic and organic thin-films were deposited onto the Ethylene Terephthalate(PET) and their interface properties between organic and inorganic layer were investigated. In this investigation, the SiON and Polyimide(PI) layer showed the most suitable properties. Under these conditions, the WVTR(water vapour transition rate) for PET can be reduced from level of $0.57\;g/m^2{\cdot}day$ (bare subtrate) to $1{\times}10^{-5}\;g/m^2{\cdot}day$ after application of a SiON and Polyimide layer. These results indicates that the SiON/PI/SiON/PI/PET barrier coatings have high potential for flexible organic light-emitting diode(OLED) applications.

  • Multi-Agent Robotic System (MARS) is a system that independent autonomous robots in the restricted environments infer their status from pre-assigned conditions and operate their jobs through the cooperation with each other. In the MARS, a robot contains sensor part to percept the situation around themselves, communication part to exchange information, and actuator part to do given work. Especially, in order to cooperate with other robots, communicating with other robots is one of the essential elements. Because Bluetooth has many advantages such as low power consumption, small size module package, and various standard protocols, Bluetooth is rated as one of the efficient communicating technologies which can apply to small-sized robot system. In this paper, we will develop Bluetooth communicating system for autonomous robots. For the purpose, the communication system must have several features-separated module, flexible interface. We will discuss how to construct and what kind of procedure to develop the communicating system.

Influence of surface morphology and thickness of molecular thin films on the performance of SubPc-$C_{60}$ photovoltaic devices

  • Over the past decades, organic semiconductors have been investigated intensely for their potential in a wide range of optoelectronic device applications since the organic materials have advantages for very light, flexible and low cost device fabrications. In this study, we fabricated small-molecule organic solar cells (OSCs) based on chloro[subphthalocyaninato]boron(III) (SubPc) as an electron donor and $C_{60}$ as an electron acceptor material. Recently SubPc, a cone-shaped molecule with $14{\pi}$-electrons in its aromatic system, has attracted growing attention in small-molecule OSC applications as an electron-donating material for its greater open-circuit voltage (VOC), extinction coefficient and dielectric constant compared to conventional planar metal phthalocyanines. In spite of the power conversion efficiency (PCE) enhancement of small-molecule OSC using SubPc and $C_{60}$, however, the study on the interface between donor-acceptor heterojunction of this system is limited. In this work, SubPc thin films at various thicknesses were deposited by organic molecular beam deposition (OMBD) and the evolution of surface morphology was observed using atomic force microscopy (AFM) and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM). We also investigated the influence of film thickness and surface morphology on the PCE of small-molecule OSC devices.

자외선/산화제 처리에 의한 폴리에스테르의 표면개질 및 접착성 (Surface Modification of Polyester by UV-irradiation with Oxidizing Agent, and Its Adhesion Property)

  • The adhesive properties of polyester cord in rubber matrix were investigated according to the surface modification. The polyester cord was oxidized in sodium hypochlorite solution, and graft-polymerized with acrylic acid under the irradiation with ultraviolet light, and then coated with resorcinol-formaldehyde latex (RFL). The modified surface was checked with scanning electron microscope. The adhesive properties were measured by the full-Out method, and evaluated with regard to the energy of adhesion and the maximum load. The polyester was not oxidized in sodium hypochlorite solution, so the surface was not able to etch to produce the coarse topology. As the concentration of acrylic acid and the reaction time were increased, the graft yields were also increased. It was considered that the acrylic acid would swell the polyester and diffuse easily to the inner side of substrate. The adhesive properties of polyeser to rubber matrix were affected by the surface condition. Namely, the maximum load was almost same, but the energy of adhesion was rather higher In the polyester grafted with acrylic acid than in control one. We concluded that the flexible aliphatic chains of polyacrylic acid situated in the interface of cord and rubber matrix were distributed well the stress and strain all over the filler resulting the high energy of adhesion.

서비스 통합형 ATM 멀티미디어 통신단말 (Multifunctional communication terminal on ATM networ)

  • 본 논문은 광대역 ISDN에서 사용될 수 있는 멸티미디어 통신단말의 구조를 제안하였다. 제안한 구조는 ITU-T, Digital Audio-Visual Council(DAVIC), A TM Forum 등의 국제, 사설 표준기구에서 권고하고 있는 멀티미디어단말 및 서비스를 분석한 결과이며, 기존 통신단말과의 연동을 보장하며, 현재 및 미래의 멀티미디어 응용서비스에 유연하게 대처할 수 있는 구조를 갖도록 하였다. 제안한 구조에 따라 설계된 서비스 통합형 멀티미디어 통선단말은 범용 PC에 탑재되는 멸티미디어 처리보드와 ATM 접속보드로 나누어 구현하였다. 구현된 서비스 통합형 멸티미디어 통신단말은 검색, 분배형 통신서비스와 대화형 통신서비스를 동시에 제공하는 것이 가능하며, 이에 따르는 서비스 별의 기능시험을 수행하였다.

압력잠김 및 열고착 현상 발생가능 밸브의 선정 (Selection of Valves Susceptible to Pressure Locking and Thermal Binding)

  • Some gate valves are susceptible to pressure locking and thermal binding which prevent the safety function. The safety related gate valves susceptible to pressure locking and thermal binding shall be identified and taken preventive actions to ensure the safety function. The identification of the gate valves susceptible to pressure locking and thermal binding needs the evaluation of system design, valve and piping arrangement, test requirements, and operating conditions. Application of preventive methods should consider the system safety function, applicability, effectiveness, interface with system design, and cost. The selection procedure of valves susceptible to pressure locking and thermal binding can be effectively used in industry including nuclear power plants. In order to prevent the pressure locking, the hole can be drilled through the one disc of upstream side or down stream and the external equalizing line can be installed from bonnet to downstream or upstream. The double disc parallel seat valve type can be used instead of flexible wedge gate valve to prevent the thermal binding. The identification of gate valves susceptible to pressure locking and thermal binding, and preventive actions will meet the regulatory requirements and enhance the availability and safety of plants.
