연성 인쇄 회로 기판을 이용한 초고주파 MEMS 송신기 연구 (A RF MEMS Transmitter Based on Flexible Printed Circuit Boards)

  • 본 논문에서는 멤스 기술의 하나인 연성 인쇄 회로 기판을 이용하여 임의의 형태로 변형이 가능한 초고주파 멤스 송신기를 제안하였다. 연성 인쇄 회로 기판은 그 무게가 가볍고 두께가 얇아 경량 소형화 모듈을 만드는데 유리한 장점이 있다. 또한, 연성 인쇄 회로 기판은 종이와 같이 유연한 특성을 가지고 있어 평면이 아닌 임의의 곡면 등에 실장할 수 있는 장정을 가지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 근거리 센서 네트워크 구성을 위한 직교 주파수 분할 다중 전송 방식을 위한 선형 무선 송신기를 설계 제작하였다. 송신 모듈의 능동 회로는 전력효율이 높고 선형성이 우수하여 전력 증폭기에 많이 사용되고 있는 InGaP/GaAs HBT 공정을 사용하여 설계 및 제작하였으며, 매칭 회로 및 필터 등의 수동 회로는 연성 인쇄 회로 기판에 직접 집적화 하여 제작하였다. 제작된 멤스 송신기는 EVM 특성을 통하여 시스템 성능을 분석하였다.

이종 폴리머재료 어닐링을 이용한 유연저항센서 FDM 3D프린팅 제작실험 (Manufacturing Experiments using FDM 3D-printed Flexible Resistance Sensors with Heterogeneous Polymer Material Annealing)

  • In this paper, the performances of the electrical characteristics of the Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) 3D-printed flexible resistance sensor was evaluated. The FDM 3D printing flexible resistive sensor is composed of flexible-material thermoplastic polyurethane and a conductive PLA (carbon black conductive polylactic acid) polymer. While 3D printing, polymer filaments heat up quickly before being extruded and cooled down quickly. Polymers have poor thermal conductivity so the heating and cooling causes unevenness, which then results in internal stress on the printed parts due to the rapidity of the heating and cooling. Electrical resistance measurements show that the 3D-printed flexible sensor is unstable due to internal stress, so the 3D-printed flexible sensor resistance curve does not match the increases and decreases in the displacement curve. Therefore, annealing was performed to eliminate the mismatch between electrical resistance and displacement. Annealing eliminates residual stress on the sensor, so the electrical resistance of the sensor increases and decreases in proportion to displacement. Additionally, the resistance is lowered in comparison to before annealing. The results of this study will be very useful for the fabrication of various devices that employ 3D-printed flexible sensor that have multiple degrees of freedom and are not limited by size and shape.

분할가변금형을 이용한 박판의 가변성형공정 연구 (Study of Flexible Forming Process Involving the Use of Sectional Flexible Die for Sheet Material)

  • 가변성형 공정에서 동일한 크기의 성형펀치 배열로 구성된 가변금형을 이용하는 경우 펀치의 크기가 일정하여 성형 가능한 곡률 반경이 제한되기 때문에 비교적 유연성이 낮다. 이에 본 연구에서는 가변금형의 유연성을 높이기 위하여 분할가변금형에 대한 개념을 제안하였다. 임의의 성형면을 형성하기 위하여 두 가지 크기의 펀치로 구성된 펀치 블록을 착안하였다. 상대적으로 큰 곡률 반경을 갖는 성형영역에 대해서는 크기가 큰 펀치 블록을 적용하였으며, 작은 곡률 반경을 갖는 성형영역에 대해서는 작은 크기의 펀치로 구성된 펀치 블록을 적용하였다. 해석적 연구를 토대로 성형된 제품의 단면 형상을 비교하였으며 이로부터 서로 다른 크기의 펀치 블록을 조합하여 구성한 분할가변금형을 이용한 판재의 성형공정이 비교적 복잡한 곡률 반경 분포를 갖는 곡면 가공에 적합함을 확인하였다.

  • Active and shape morphing aerospace structures are discussed with a focus on activities aimed at practical implementation. In active structures applications range from dynamic load alleviation in aircraft and spacecraft up to static and dynamic shape control. In contrast, shape morphing means strong shape variation according to different mission status and needs, aiming to enhance functionality and performance over wide flight and mission regimes. The interaction of required flexible materials with the morphing structure and the actuating mechanisms is specifically addressed together with approaches in design and simulation.

  • In this paper, an energy harvester is developed that has advantages regarding piezoelectric noise minimization, mass production, and an easily available environmental energy source, electromagnetic induction, as well as low-frequency bandwidth and high amplitude. A process for fabricating a three-dimensional multilayered planar coil using micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) on a flexible printed circuit board FPCB is introduced. Optimal shape and size were calculated via internal resistance and inductance, and a prototype was fabricated through the MEMS procedure while considering the possibility of mass production. Although the internal resistance matched the designed value, the electromotive force generated did not reach the intended amount. The main reason for the decrease in efficiency was the low area of coil outskirt exposed to the magnetic field while there was relative motion between the magnet and the coil.

  • A unique fabrication method for a copper micromesh is proposed and demonstrated. A PDMS mold was fabricated using a microcasting process and then used as a flexible mold in copper electroplating. The fabricated copper micromesh was well formed and connected without any cracks within the entire mold area. The experimental results verified that the fabricated features of the copper micromesh accurately followed the shape of the microstructures of the PDMS mold. This unique fabrication method provides an easy yet precise means of producing three-dimensional metal microstructures.

A new flexible Weibull distribution

  • Many of studies have suggested the modifications on Weibull distribution to model the non-monotone hazards. In this paper, we combine two cumulative hazard functions and propose a new modified Weibull distribution function. The newly suggested distribution will be named as a new flexible Weibull distribution. Corresponding hazard function of the proposed distribution shows flexible (monotone or non-monotone) shapes. We study the characteristics of the proposed distribution that includes ageing behavior, moment, and order statistic. We also discuss an estimation method for its parameters. The performance of the proposed distribution is compared with existing modified Weibull distributions using various types of hazard functions. We also use real data example to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed distribution.

  • The prototype of a tactile sensor with $4\times 4$ taxels using PVDF was fabricated. The electrode patterns of the thin Cu tape are attached to the 28${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ thickness PVDF using conductive adhesive and covering the sensor using polyester film for insulation. The structure of the sensor is flexible and the fabrication procedure is easy relatively. Also the output characteristics of the sensor was nearly linear with 8% deviation. The signals of a contact pressure to the tactile sensor are sensed and processed through A/D converter, DSP system and personal computer. The reasonable performance for the detection of contact shape and force distribution was verified through the experiment.

  • The objective of this paper is to present a new input torque shaping method for slewing and vibration suppression of flexible structure based on Fourier series expansion. Vibration energy of the structure with shaped control input is investigated with respect to the shaping parameter of the reference torque, maneuver time and the number of trigonometric functions to be included in the series. Analytic expressions of the performance indices and their derivatives are derived in the modal coordinates. Numerical results show the effectiveness of the proposed approach to design the open-loop control law that modifies the shape of input torque for simultaneous slewing and vibration suppression.

  • In this paper, we present an arrayed flexible tactile sensor, which can detect contact normal forces as well as positions. The tactile sensor is developed using Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF) that is known as piezoelectric polymer, and the surface electrode is fabricated using silk-screening technique with silver. We develop a charge amplifier in order to amplify the small signal from the sensor, and a fast signal processing unit by using a DSP chip. The developed tactile sensor is physically flexible and it can be deformed three-dimensionally to any shape so that it can be placed on anywhere on the curved surface.
