  • In the pesticides sprays, spray and atomization technologies to increase the deposition and reduce the drift are briefly reviewed. Further research is needed to deduce a measure of drift risk in sprays with different structures, velocity profiles. For flat fan nozzles, the data of breakup length and thickness of liquid sheet are essential to understand the atomization processes and develop the transport model to target. In the air-assisted spray technology to reduce drift, further works on the effect of application height on drift and air assistance on droplet size should be followed. In addition, methods for quantifying included air in the air inclusion techniques are required. A few researches on the droplet size of fallout can be found in the literature. A combined technology with electrostatic method into one of method for the reduction of drift may be an effective strategy for increasing deposition and reducing drift.

  • An experimental study on heat transfer and flow in compression molding of clss-B and A SMC(Sheet Molding Compounds) in a flat plate and a cross-sectional T-shape was carried out. The temperature was measured with thermocouples at two locations in the 4 layered SMC charge and pressure was measured at the center of the top mold during compression molding. Three different mold speeds, 15, 45, 50 mm/min and two different mold temperature, $130^{\circ}C{\;}and{\;}150^{\circ}C$ were used for compression molding experiments. Experiments with different colored SMC layers were used to study flow patterns at various compression stages. In oder to predict the pressure and load in SMC compression molding, slab method was used. The predicted values of pressure and load from the slab analysis were compared well with the measured data.

  • Tension mask assembly is positioned right behind the glass-made front panels of CRT type display devices. The frame-supported thin metal sheet contains numerous slits, through which electron beams are focused to enhance definition. Pretension is imposed on the masks, especially for enlarged flat screens, in order to avoid vibration due to acoustic or mechanical impact. High temperature assembly process subsequent to pretensioning, however, degenerates the creep resistance of common mask materials, and if tensile stress is high enough, tension on the mask may be loosened substantially due to creep deformation. In this study, the assembly is modeled as a combined structure of beams and wire array, and a numerical simulation is attempted for pretensioning followed by high temperature process. According to a model study, small amount of creep strain is likely to be generated, but its adverse influence is not negligible. Some structural modification measures to reduce the creep-induced tension loosening are proposed and evaluated. Also, optimal configuration of frame structure is sought for, which maintains high tension of masks and minimizes the possible creep of frame simultaneously.

  • The rolling of flat slabs or sheet metal is probably the most advanced technique of metalworking technology. In spite of this very intensive activity, the problem if edge cracking has not been resolved. Although edge cracking is a major industrial problem, relatively little well-documented experimental work has been published on subject. Despite the paucity of exact experiments, it is reasonably certain from published data that three causes contribute to its occurrence; (1) limited ductility of the rolled material (2) uneven deformation at the edges and (3) variations in stresses along the width of the rolled material, particular near the edge. The present study was carried out to show the generation of edge cracking using ductile fracture criteria and FE-simulation. The validity of simulated results was verified by rolling experiments of steel strip.

  • The objective of this paper is to introduce very fast but still stable solution using finite element procedures, and it has been used in an iterative mode for product design applications. A lot of numerical techniques have been developed to deal with the material, geometric and boundary condition non-linearities occurred in the stamping process. One of them, the One-Step FEM is very efficient and useful tool for a design and trouble-shooting in various stamping processes. In this method, the mathod, the material is assumed to deform directly from the initial flat blank to the final configuration without any intermediate steps. The formulation is based on the deformation theory of plasticity and the upper bound theorem. As a result of the calculations, the initial blank shape is obtained, together with the material flow, strains and thickness distribution in the part.

  • Since P-ELD(powders type electroluminescent device) phenomena were found by G.Destriau at first In 1936, lots of studying was performed in order to realize surface emission devices and flat panel display as a backlight. Due to the problem of low luminance and color and so on, it was delayed. Recently using electric field and thermal effect which can change it\`s molecular arrangement, it can be developed using photoelectric properties of P-ELD. P-ELD in this study was prepared by casting method. Basic structure is ITO/Phosphor/insulator/Al sheet, each layer was mixed by binder, which concentration 11p(poise) for phosphor, 8p(poise) fort insulator. Dielectric properties was investigated first and emission properties of P-ELD based on ZnS:Mn,Cu/ZnS:Cu,Br mixture. P-ELD prepared in this work exhibits about 100cd/㎡ 1-kHz simusoidal excitation.

  • In the FE analysis of sheet metal forming, efficient results can be obtained by using shell elements rather than using solid elements. However, shell elements have some limitations to describe three-dimensional material laws. In the recent years, solid-shell element, which has only translational degree of freedom like solid element, has been presented. The assumed nature strain (ANS) and enhanced assumed strain (EAS) methods can be used to remove several solid-shell locking problems. In this paper, ANS method was used for diminish transverse shear locking and EAS method for thickness locking. Using the element, the steel pipe making process from flat plate analyzed effectively, which is including bending and welding.

  • Tape casting is an important forming operation used to prepare flat sheets in the various industries. In this study, Doctor Blade tape casting of In-based low melting point alloy was carried out. The purpose of this investigation was to determine the possibility of applying the Doctor Blade tape casting process to the manufacture of low melting point alloy sheets that can be used as thermal fusible parts of battery safety systems. In-based molten alloy that has a melting point of $95^{\circ}C$ was produced; it's viscosity was measured at various temperatures. The molten alloy was used as a slip in the caster of the Doctor Blade tape casting system. The effects of the molten alloy temperatures and carrier speeds on the produced sheet shape were observed. For the casting conditions of 1.5 cm slip height, $120^{\circ}C$ slip temperature, 0.05 mm blade gap and 60 m/min. carrier speed, an In-based alloy thin tape well shaped with 0.16 mm uniform thickness was continuously produced.

  • The hole expansion tests using conical punch, flat punch or hemispherical punch are widely used for stretch flangeability verification of HSS. In this study, we investigate the strain distribution on the shear edges of the hole expansion test using grid marking and a projector. A small crack at the edge is distributed, resulting in a large gap between the HER and the crack strain. The strain distribution at the edges is irregular due to anisotropy of sheet metal. While an edge perpendicular to the rolling direction indicate a lower strain level compared to an edge parallel to the rolling direction, edge cracks occur at the edge perpendicular to the rolling direction. To predict the manifestation of edge cracks in FE analysis, the result of the hole expansion test with a crack strain measurement may well be a better tool than FLD. In this case, the level of strain and the direction of the edge relative to the rolling direction should be well considered.
