Flat-panel detector(FPD) is the driving force for realizing the next gene ration of x-ray system. In this study, we developed amorphous selenium(a-Se) based flat-panel digital X-ray detector(DXD) for radiography. The prototype detector consists of an amorphous selenium layer and a thin-film transistor(TFT) array. Comparing to other papers1)-4), optimization of amorphous selenium and progress of evaporation were similar. The pixel pitch of fabricated detector was $139{\mu}m$, fill factor was 86%, and the size was 14"${\times}$8.5". Hand and test bar pattern images were acquired. A high modulation transfer function(MTF) factor was obtained: 58% at 3.0 lp/mm.
Recently, small-animal imaging technology has been rapidly developed for longitudinal screening of laboratory animals such as mice and rats. One of newly developed imaging modalities for small animals is an x-ray micro-CT (computed tomography). We have developed two types of x-ray micro-CT systems for small animal imaging. Both systems use flat-panel x-ray detectors and micro-focus x-ray sources to obtain high spatial resolution of $10{\mu}m$. In spite of the relatively large field-of-view (FOV) of flat-panel detectors, the spatial resolution in the whole-body imaging of rats should be sacrificed down to the order of $100{\mu}m$ due to the limited number of x-ray detector pixels. Though the spatial resolution of cone-beam CTs can be improved by moving an object toward an x-ray source, the FOV should be reduced and the object size is also limited. To overcome the limitation of the object size and resolution, we introduce zoom-in micro-tomography for high-resolution imaging of a local region-of-interest (ROI) inside a large object. For zoom-in imaging, we use two kinds of projection data in combination, one from a full FOV scan of the whole object and the other from a limited FOV scan of the ROI. Both of our micro-CT systems have zoom-in micro-tomography capability. One of both is a micro-CT system with a fixed gantry mounted with an x-ray source and a detector. An imaged object is laid on a rotating table between a source and a detector. The other micro-CT system has a rotating gantry with a fixed object table, which makes whole scans without rotating an object. In this paper, we report the results of in vivo small animal study using the developed micro-CTs.
In diagnostic radiology, the imaging system has been changed from film/screen to digital system. However, the method for removing scatter radiation such as anti-scatter grid has not kept pace with this change. Therefore, authors have devised the indirect flat panel detector (FPD) system with net-like lead in substrate layer which can remove the scattered radiation. In clinical context, there are many radiographic examinations with angulated incident X-ray. However, our proposed FPD has net-like lead foil so the vertical lead foil to the angulate incident X-ray would have bad effect on its performance. In this study, we identified the effect of vertical/horizontal lead foil component on the novel system's performance and improved the structure of novel system for clinical usage with angulated incident X-ray. Grid exposure factor and image contrast were calculated to investigate various structure of novel system using Monte Carlo simulation software when the incident X-ray was tilted ($0^{\circ}$, $15^{\circ}$, and $30^{\circ}$ from the detector plane). More photons were needed to obtain same image quality in the novel system with vertical lead foil only then the system with horizontal lead foil only. An optimal structure of novel system having different heights of its vertical and horizontal lead foil component showed improved performance compared with the novel system in a previous study. Therefore, the novel system will be useful in a clinical context with the angulated incident X-ray if the height and direction of lead foil in the substrate layer are optimized as the condition of conventional radiography.

The study of photoconductor materials is demanded for development for flat-panel digital x-ray Imager. In this paper, We investigated the feasibility of application as x-ray image sensor using Cd(Zn)Te compound with high stopping power on high radiation. These Cd(Zn)Te samples were fabricated by vacuum thermal evaporation method to large area deposition and investigated I-V measurement as applied voltage. The experimental results show that the additional injection Zn in CdTe film reduced the leakage current, for the $Cd_{0.85}Zn_{0.15}Te$ detector, the net charge had the highest value as $144.58pC/cm^2$ at 30 V.

This article reviews the development of flat-panel detectors for digital radiography based on amorphous materials, Important design parameters and developments are described for the two main components of flat-panel detectors: the X-ray converter and the readout pixel array. This article also introduces the advanced development concepts of new detectors. In addition, the cascaded linear systems method is reviewed because it is a very powerful tool for improving the design and assessment of X-ray imaging detector systems.
Comparing with film-screen system, flat-panel detector has extensive dynamic range. Focusing flat-panel detector, whole body human phantom PBU-50 (Kyoto, kagaku, Japan) was used to perform comparative study of the estimate of image quality and exposure dose. the exposure condition was 81kV and 20mAs, which is used for Abdomen supine exam in clinical area. As a result of the kV change of the interpreted medical image which has over 30dB of PSNR value, the value of DAP shows the difference of 19.6 times. Moreover, the result of comparing kV change with effective dose of ICRP 103 shows that stochastic effect was increased by over exposure. Therefore, it is significantly necessary that digital radiation technical chart will be used to obtain high quality image and make the standard of dose by educating radio-technologist continually.

We measured and evaluated digital, pre-sampling and overall imaging properties (characteristic curves, Modulation Transfer Function (MTF), Wiener spectra (WS), Noise Equivalent Quanta (NEQ) and Detective Quantum Efficiency (DQE)) for the direct type and indirect type of Flat-Panel Detector (FPD). First, the digital and overall characteristic curves of the both types of FPD had more wide dynamic range than that of the S/F system. Second, the pre-sampling and overall MTF of the direct-type FPD were superior to those of the indirect-type FPD. Third, for identical exposures, the digital and overall WS of the direct-type FPD were similar or worse than those of the indirect-type FPD, and for larger exposure, the digital WS of the both types of FPD were smaller, but overall WS of the both types of FPD were larger. Fourth, the digital and overall NEQ and DQE of the direct-type FPD were worse than both NEQ and DQE of the indirect-type FPD at lower spatial frequencies, but were better at higher spatial frequencies.

An experiment chest phantom that consist by formation equivalence material use because density value( -3${\sim}$+3) in X-ray control panel and seep that is speed step(slow, medium, fast) each control experimentalize. image analysis reflex neted through an experiment using image j each image compare. These was change in dose according to slow, medium, fast and density's change in an experiment result. According to detector sensitivity and density condition set, dose was relationship dissimilarity 500% from 200%. The dose came highest when is density +3 to slow. and dose more increases gray scale's extent could know that rise. Could know whether how equipment set is important through this experiment. cause of disease which change by digital radiography system forward is thought to increase more, it is considered that suitable education by this and continuous interest about equipment need absolutely.

Purpose: To determine the physical properties of a newly developed cone beam computed tomography (CBCT). Materials and Methods: We measured and compared the imaging properties for the indirect-type flat panel detector (FPD) of a new CBCT and the single detector array (SDA) of conventional helical CT (CHCT). Results: First, the modulation transfer function (MTF) of the CBCT were superior to those of the CHCT. Second, the noise power spectrum (NPS) of the CBCT were worse than those of the CHCT. Third, detective quantum efficiency (DQE) of the indirect-type CBCT were worse than those of the CHCT at lower spatial frequencies, but were better at higher spatial frequencies. Although the comparison of contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) was estimated in the limited range of tube current, CNR of CBCT were worse than those of CHCT. Conclusion: This study shows that the indirect-type FPD system may be useful as a CBCT detector because of high resolution.
