PIB법을 이용한 대면적 $HgI_2$ 검출기의 I-V 특성평가 (I-V Measurements of large area $HgI_2$ X-ray detector produced by PIB method)

  • In this paper, we investigated electrical characteristics of the X-ray detector of mercuric iodide (HgI2) film fabricated by PIB(Particle-in-Binder) Method on ITO substrates 17cm$\times$20cm in size with thicknesses ranging from approximately 200${\mu}m$ to 240${\mu}m$. In the present study, using I-V measurements, their electrical properties such as leakage current, X-ray sensitivity, and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR),were investigated. The results of our study can be useful in the future design and optimization of direct active-matrix flat-panel detectors (AMFPD) for various digital X-ray imaging modalities.

다운 스피딩이 NEDC 모드 연비에 미치는 기여도 산출에 관한 연구 (Analysis of Down Speeding Effect on Fuel Economy during NEDC)

  • Development trend of modern HSDI diesel engine is now focusing on low fuel consumption and emission because of strong interest in global environmental protection. Two big branches of criteria for modern diesel engine development are down sizing and down speeding. Down sizing keeps engine operation condition to the direction of higher load and thus pursuing for better thermal efficiency. But this may cause degraded vehicle dynamic performance because of reduced back up torque. Down speeding keeps engine operation condition to the direction of slightly higher load and lower engine speed. Therefore reduction of back up torque can be limited within flat torque area. This study analyzed fuel economy effect of down speeding on a vehicle powered by HSDI diesel engine in aspect of engine friction work, intake and exhaust pumping work, exhaust hat loss and thermal loss of fuel leakage of fuel injection system. Contribution factor of each engine and vehicle related parameters under basic and down speeding condition were compared and work balance of down speeding during NEDC was analyzed.

  • The electrical characteristics of $Al/Ta_2O_5/Si$ metal-oxide-semiconductor (MOS) capacitors were studied. $Ta_2O_5$ films on p-type silicon had been prepared by ionized cluster beam epitaxy technique (ICBE). This $Ta_2O_5$ films have low leakage current, high breakdown strength and low flat band shift. In this research, a single crystalline cpitaxial film of $Ta_2O_5$ has been grown on p-Si wafer using an ICBE technique. The native oxide layer ($SiO_2$) on the silicon substrate was removed below $500^{\circ}C$ by use of an accelerated arsenic ion beam, instead of a high temperature deposition. $Ta_2O_5$ films formed by ICBE technique can be received considerable attention for applications to coupling capacitors, gate dielectrics in MOS devices, and memory storage capacitor insulator because of their high dielectric constants above 20 and low temperature process.

파랑작용에 의한 준설토 지반의 안정성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on the Stability of Dredged Soil Bed under Cyclic Wave Actions)

  • Detailed investigations were carried out on the stability of the dredged soil bed against wave actions, aimedat establishing the design method of artificial tidal flats using dredged soil. The soil was dredged at Nagoya port, Japan, and has a mean grain size of 0.013mm. Basic features of artificial dredged soil bed against wave actions were explained from a series of model experiments in a wave flume. The two types of section shapes were employed; one is a horizontal bed and the other is a sloped one. Changes of the bed profile, shear strength, grain size distribution and water content, according to the wave actions, were measured in detail. The cumulative effect of the wave actions, over about one week, was investigated. A dredged soil bed moves withthe wave actions with relatively small wave height. It should be especially. noted that the clay component is dissolved and flown out, away from the surface layer, and consequently the surface layer hardens, as if it is covered with sand. Wren the wave height is gradually increased, the bed is not liquefied and the shear strength of the dredged bed is increased by a wave-induced dissipation of pore pressures in the bed and a decrease of clay component by the wave-induced leakage.

  • The cargo containment system (CCS) for ships carrying cryogenic fluid consists of at least two levels of barriers and insulation layers. It is because, even though there is a small amount of leak through the primary barrier, the liquid tight secondary barrier blocks further leakage of the cryogenic fluid. However, once the secondary barrier is damaged, it is highly possible that the leaked cryogenic fluid flows through the flat joint made of glass wool and reaches the inner hull of the ship. The primary objective of the present study is to investigate the influence of the damage extent in the secondary barrier on the amount of leaked cryogenic fluid reaching the inner hull and the temperature distribution there. Simulation results using a computational fluid dynamics tool were compared with the experimental data for the leaked cryogenic fluid flow and evaporation in the secondary insulation layer. The experimental and computational results suggest that, unless there is a massive leak, the cryogenic fluid mostly evaporates in the insulation layer and does not reach the inner hull in the state of liquid.

코일 형태에 따른 변압기의 특성 (Characteristics of Transformer as a function of Coiling method)

  • 변압기는 권선방법에 따라 많은 특성의 변화를 나타내게 되는데 일반적인 동선의 권선법과 코일형태로 동판을 가공하여 사용하는 평면 권선방법, 그리고 고전류용 변압기에 이용되는 것으로 코어의 권선창 표면을 감싸는 형태의 관형 권선방법의 3가지의 코일 형태 또는 권선방법에 따른 변압기의 특성 변화와 컨버터에 채용되었을 때의 전력효율에 대하여 고찰하였다. 평면 코일을 이용한 변압기는 높은 코일간의 결합도로 인해 가장 낮은 누설인덕턴스와 가장 높은 성능지수 및 결합계수를 나타내었고, 관형코일을 이용한 변압기는 높은 누설특성으로 인해 가장 낮은 성능지수와 결합계수를 나타내었다. 그리고 이들을 DC-DC 컨버터에 채용하여 분석한 결과 평면변압기가 가장 높은 효율을 발휘하였다. 관형변압기는 저전력에서는 높은 누설량으로 인해 효율이 상대적으로 낮지만 출력전력이 증가할수록 상승하는 발열량에 대한 방열효과가 높아 효율의 감소폭이 작아서 고주파 또는 대전류용 변압기 응용이 기대된다.

  • The resonant planar transformer, which had power capacity of 300 W, input voltage of 220 V, output voltage of 15 V, and switching frequency of 500 kHz, was designed and manufactured by using the planar core with large effective area and the flat copper lead frames for miniaturization and high efficiency of the switching mode power supply (SMPS). As well as, a resonant converter equipped with the above mentioned planar transformer was manufactured and electromagnetic characteristics were investigated. The numerical value of turns for 1st and 2nd winding were 12 and 2 respectively. The self inductance of 1st winding was 33.2 ${\mu}H$, very low leakage inductance of 1.27 ${\mu}H$, and the coupling factor of 0.98 were obtained at switching frequency of 300 kHz. The high efficiency of 88.21 % for the SMPS equipped with planar transformer was obtained at power capacity of 300 W.

VOID DEFECTS IN COBALT-DISILICIDE FOR LOGIC DEVICES

  • We employed cobalt-disilicide for high-speed logic devices. We prepared stable and low resistant $CoSi_2$ through typical fabrication process including wet cleaning and rapid thermal process (RTP). We sputtered 15nm thick cobalt on the wafer and performed RTP annealing 2 times to obtain 60nm thick $CoSi_2$. We observed spherical shape voids with diameter of 40nm in the surface and inside $CoSi_2$ layers. The voids resulted in taking over abnormal junction leakage current and contact resistance values. We report that the voids in $CoSi_2$ layers are resulted from surface pits during the ion implantation previous to deposit cobalt layer. Silicide reaction rate around pits was enhanced due to Gibbs-Thompson effects and the volume expansion of the silicidation of the flat active regime trapped dimples. We confirmed that keeping the buffer oxide layer during ion implantation and annealing the silicon surface after ion implantation were required to prevent void defects in CoSi$_2$ layers.

Epitaxial growth of yttrium-stabilized HfO$_2$ high-k gate dielectric thin films on Si

  • Epitaxial yttrium-stabilized HfO$_2$ thin films were deposited on p-type (100) Si substrates by pulsed laser deposition at a relatively lower substrate temperature of 550. Transmission electron microscopy observation revealed a fixed orientation relationship between the epitaxial film and Si; that is, (100)Si.(100)HfO$_2$ and [001]Si/[001]HfO$_2$. The film/Si interface is not atomically flat, suggesting possible interfacial reaction and diffusion, X-ray photoelectron spectrum analysis also revealed the interfacial reaction and diffusion evidenced by Hf silicate and Hf-Si bond formation at the interface. The epitaxial growth of the yttrium stabilized HfO$_2$ thin film on bare Si is via a direct growth mechanism without involoving the reaction between Hf atoms and SiO$_2$ layer. High-frequency capacitance-voltage measurement on an as-grown 40-A yttrium-stabilized HfO$_2$ epitaxial film yielded an dielectric constant of about 14 and equivalent oxide thickness to SiO$_2$ of 12 A. The leakage current density is 7.0${\times}$ 10e-2 A/$\textrm{cm}^2$ at 1V gate bias voltage.

Evaluation of Scratch Characteristics of Diaphragm for Application of Hydrogen Compressor Parts

  • Diaphragm compressors play a crucial role in safely compressing large volumes of high-purity hydrogen gas without contamination or leakage, thereby ensuring quality and reliability. Diaphragm compressors use a thin, flat, triple-layered diaphragm plate that is subjected to repetitive piston pressure for compression. They are usually made of metallic materials such as stainless steel or Inconel owing to their high-pressure resistance. However, since they are consumable components, they fail due to fatigue from repetitive pressure and vibration stress. This study aims to evaluate the scratch characteristics of diaphragms in operational environments by conducting tests on three different samples: Inconel 718, AISI 301, and Teflon-coated AISI 301. The Inconel 718 sample underwent a polishing process, the AISI 301 sample used raw material, and the Teflon coating was applied to the AISI 301 substrate at a thickness of 50 ㎛. To assess the scratch resistance, reciprocating motion friction tests were performed using a tribometer, utilizing 220 and 2000 grit sandpapers as the counter materials. The results of the friction tests suggested that the Teflon-coated sample exhibited the lowest initial friction coefficient and consistently maintained the lowest average friction coefficient (0.13 and 0.11 with 220 and 2000 grit, respectively) throughout the test. Moreover, the Teflon-coated diaphragm showed minimal wear patterns, indicating superior scratch resistance than the Inconel 718 and AISI 301 samples. These findings suggest that Teflon coatings may offer an effective solution for enhancing scratch resistance in diaphragms, thereby improving compressor performance in high-pressure hydrogen applications.
