Recently, new storage device SSD(Solid State Disk) based on NAND flash memory is gradually replacing HDD(Hard Disk Drive) in mobile device and thus a variety of research efforts are going on to find the cost-effective ways of performance improvement. By increasing the NAND flash channels in order to enhance the bandwidth through parallel processing, DRAM buffer which acts as a buffer cache between host(PC) and NAND flash has become the bottleneck point. To resolve this problem, this paper proposes an efficient low-cost scheme to increase SSD performance by improving DRAM buffer bandwidth through scheduling techniques which utilize DRAM multi-banks. When both host and NAND flash multi-channels request access to DRAM buffer concurrently, the proposed technique checks their destination and then schedules appropriately considering properties of DRAMs. It can reduce overheads of bank active time and row latency significantly and thus optimizes DRAM buffer bandwidth utilization. The result reveals that the proposed technique improves the SSD performance by 47.4% in read and 47.7% in write operation respectively compared to conventional methods with negligible changes and increases in the hardware.
Traditional technologies that are used to improve the performance of hard disk drives show many negative cases if they are applied to solid state drives (SSD). Access time and block sequence in hard disk drives that consist of mechanical components are very important performance factors. Meanwhile, SSD provides superior random read performance that is not affected by block address sequence due to the characteristics of flash memory. Practically, it is recommended to disable prefetching if a SSD is installed in a personal computer. However, this paper presents a combinational method of a prefetching scheme and a memory management that consider the internal structure of SSD and the characteristics of NAND flash memory. It is important that SSD must concurrently operate multiple flash memory chips. The I/O unit size of NAND flash memory tends to increase and it exceeded the block size of operating systems. Hence, the proposed prefetching scheme performs in an operating unit of SSD. To complement a weak point of the prefetching scheme, the proposed memory management scheme adaptively evicts uselessly prefetched data to maximize the sum of cache hit rate and prefetch hit rate. We implemented the proposed schemes as a Linux kernel module and evaluated them using a commercial SSD. The schemes improved the I/O performance up to 26% in a given experiment.

The purpose on this research is quantitatively comparing and analyzing signal intensity of 1.0mol and 0.5mol contrast agent. For this study, two MR phantoms were produced. One of them is used with 1.0mol Gadobutrol. The other is used with 0.5mol Gadoteridol. These two phantoms respectively have been scanned by SE T1 sequence which is used to get a general contrast-enhanced image in 1.5T MRI and 3D FLASH sequence which is used as enhanced angio MRI. Signal intensity was measured by scanned images as per contrast agent dilution ratio. The results were as follow: RSP(Reaction Starting Point) of the two sequences(2D SE, 3D FLASH) was respectively 6.0%, 60.0% in 0.5mol contrast and 2.0%, 20.0% in 1.0mol contrast, which means in 0.5mol contrast, RSP was formed faster than the one in 1.0mol contrast. MPSI was respectively 1358.8[a.u], 1573[a.u] in 0.5mol contrast and 1374[a.u], 1642.4[a.u] in 1.0mol contrast, which means 0.5mol contrast's MPP (0.4%, 10.0%) was formed faster than 1.0mol contrast's MPP (0.16%, 1.8%). Lastly, RA as per contrast agent dilution ratio was 27.4%, 11.8% wider in 0.5mol contrast(20747.4[a.u], 23204.6[a.u]) than in 1.0mol contrast(12691.9[a.u], 20747.4[a.u]). According to the study, we are able to assure that signal reaction time of 1.0mol contrast is slower than the one of 0.5mol contrast in contrast-enhanced MRI at two different sequences(2D SE, 3D FLASH). Furthermore, owing to the fact that there are not any signal intensity differences between 1.0mol and 0.5mol contrast, it is not true that high concentration gadolinium MR contrast agent does not always mean high signal intensity in MRI.
Joining of grey cast iron by fusion welding has much difficulties for its extremely low ductility and low toughness because of the flake form of the graphite. And the brittle microstructure, i.e. ledeburite may be formed during fusion welding by its rapid cooling rates. By these kinds of welding problem, preheat and post heat treatment temperature must be increased to avoid weld crack or welding problems. In order to avoid these fusion welding problem, friction welding of cast iron was carried out for improving joint soundness, establishing friction welding variables. There is no factor for evaluating friction weldability in continuous drive type friction welding. In this point of view, this study proposed the parameters for calculating friction weld heat input. The results obtained are as follows ; 1. There was a close relationship between tensile strength and flash appearance of friction welded joint. 2. Tensile strength was decreased and flash was severely oxidized as increasing frictional heating time. 3. As increased forging pressure $P_2$, flash had a large crack and tensile strength was decreased. 4. As powdered graphite by rotational frictional force induced flat surface and hindered plastic flow of metal, tensile strength of welded joint was decreased. 5. Heat input for continuous drive type friction welding could be calculated by the factors of $P_1$, $P_2$ and upset distance(${\delta}$).
The consequence analysis for jet and flash fire accidents by the continuous release of butane vapor was performed and effects of process variables on consequences were analyzed in standard conditions. For the continuous release (87.8 kg/s) of butane vapor at 8m elevated height in the debutanizing process of the naphtha cracking plant operating at 877 kPa, 346.75 K, we found that for the jet fire accident, shape and size of the flame could be predicted and thermal radiation estimated by API model at 200m distance from release point was 1.5kW/$m^2$, and that for the flash fire accident, effect range was 11.2~120.2m. Also, simulation results showed that effects of operating pressures on consequences were larger than those of operating temperatures and results of accidents were increased with increasing operating pressures. At this time, effects of operating pressures on XUFL were smaller(about 1/10) than those on XLFL for the flash fire accident.

Lithium-ion secondary batteries are currently in high demand and supply. The purpose of this study is to secure the safety of the process by studying the combustion characteristics of EC(Ethylene Carbonate), Which is mainly used as an electrolyte organic solvent for lithium ion batteries. The flash points of the EC by using Setaflash and Pensky-Martens closed-cup testers were experimented at 141 ℃ and 143 ℃, respectively. The flash points of the EC by Tag and Cleveland open cup testers were experimented at 152 ℃ and 156 ℃, respectively. The AIT(Auto Ignition Temperature) of the EC was experimented at 420 ℃. The LEL(Lower Explosive Limit) calculated by using lower flash point of Setaflash was calculated at 3.6 Vol.%.
Recently, researchers have become interested in natural ester fluids, as they are an environmentally friendly alternative to mineral oils. Natural ester fluids are a natural resource made from plants; they have higher biodegradability, flash, and fire points, and a greater permittivity compared to conventional mineral oils. However, natural ester fluids also have a higher pour point, viscosity, and water content. These characteristics can hamper circulation and impair the electrical properties of an oil-filled transformer. A large amount of data has been accumulated over the years in regards to mineral insulating oil involving dielectric breakdown voltage and lightning impulse tests. However, natural ester fluids have not had their electrical properties sufficiently characterized. In this paper, we present an investigation into the characteristics of the electrical discharge development in natural ester fluids and in an oil-filled transformer near the pour points. The experiment results show that the electrical properties decreased according to a decrease in the ambient temperature and freezing time. It was found that the pour point and water content of natural ester fluids have a significant effect on the electrical properties.

In this study, the behavior of a shaped charge projectile's metal jet was analyzed using flash radiography. The projectile was installed horizontally to observe the behavior of jet for enough time. While the X-ray tube heads are fixed at one point, the behavior range of the jet is wide in this experimental set up, therefore the angle between the X-ray tube heads and the jet tip is changed continuously as jet moves forward. Jet particle's locations calculated from the X-ray films become different from their real positions under this situation because of the film to object distance(FTOD) and correction for error by FTOD is required. In this study, a method was devised to correct the error by FTOD and this was applied for the investigation of jet behavior of a 70 mm caliber's shaped charge.
The purpose of this study was to develop and evaluate a nutrition education program to prevent breakfast skipping for elementary school children. Subjects were 102 5th grade students (51 boys, 51 girls) as the "education group" and 200 5th grade students (102 boys, 98 girls) as the "non-education group." The nutrition education program consisted of 4 lessons over an 8-week period. Teaching materials, including flash animation, panel, PowerPoint, and a bingo game, were developed for this education program. After education, there was significant increase in the percentage of students who had eaten breakfast every day, understood that breakfast has a great effect on health, and will eat breakfast every day in the education group compared to non-education group. Parents' positive behavior toward daily breakfast preparation and the percentage of parents who had their children eat breakfast every day increased significantly. The students of the education group responded positively to the questions of the benefit and importance of nutrition education. The flash animation received high marks, especially in terms of understanding of contents, content clarity, emphasis of the core content, delivery of necessary knowledge, and applicability of breakfast. This study shows the effectiveness of a 4-lesson nutrition education taught during an 8-week time period to induce changes in recognizing the importance of breakfast and in behavior toward breakfast consumption.
