  • A recent unusual change in the weather is formed as a localized heavy rain in a short time. This phenomenon has caused a flash flood, and flash floods extensively have damaged human lives many times. In large river's case, the extent of loss of lives and properties has been decreased through the flood warning system by flood control stations of each stream. However, the extent of damage in other small rivers has increased reversely. Therefore, it is necessary to establish a new flood warning system against flash floods instead of the existing flood warning system. It is a specific character that the damage from flash floods in mountain streams brings much more loss of lives than large river's flood. The purpose of this study is calculating the characteristic of flash floods in streams, analyzing topographical characteristics of water basin through applying GIS techniques with the calculation as mentioned above and researching what topographical conditions have influence on hydrological flash floods in water basin. The flash flood prediction model we used is made by GIUH (geomorphoclimatic instantaneous unit hydrograph) with hydrologic-topographical technology. As applying the flash flood prediction model, this is a procedure for calculating topographical information in basin: we made a topological data up out of database with utilizing GIS, and we also produced a DEM (digital elevation model) and used it as a topographical data for determining amount of flash floods.

2-프로판올과 톨루엔 혼합물질의 인화점 측정에 관한 연구 (Study on the Flash Point Determination of 2-Propanol-Toluene Mixtures)

  • The lower flash points and upper flash points of 2-propanol and toluene mixtures were determined by air-blowing method instead of Tag-closed flash point tester. The relations between the flash points and the composition of the mixtures are as follows, $T_{F.L}=4.3182+6.0909X_1$ $T_{F.U}=39.3636-2.9091X_1$ As results, the experimental data and the estimated values from the relations are considerably agreed, and we could plotted the relative diagram between flash points and the explosive range.

  • Flash memories are one of best media to support portable computer's storages. However, we need to improve traditional data management scheme due to the relatively slow characteristics of flash operation as compared to RAM memory. In order to achieve this goal, we devise a new scheme called Flash Two Phase Locking (F2PL) scheme for efficient data processing. F2PL improves transaction performance by allowing multi version reads and efficiently handling slow flash write/erase operation in lock management process.

  • NAND flash 메모리의 집적도를 높이기 위한 주요 기술로, 데이터가 저장되는 cell 자체의 크기를 줄여주는 미세 공정화와 cell 당 저장되는 정보량을 늘려주는 멀티-레벨(multi-level)화가 사용되고 있다. 이러한 기술의 적용은 NAND flash 메모리 자체의 오류를 증가시키게 되므로, NAND flash 메모리 기반 데이터 저장 장치의 신뢰성을 높은 수준으로 유지하기 위해서는 우수한 정정 능력을 갖는 ECC(error control code) 를 사용하는 것이 필수적이다. 본고에서는 NAND flash 메모리의 신뢰성 특성과 함께 NAND flash 메모리를 사용하는 데이터 저장 장치에서의 ECC의 응용에 대해서 살펴보고자 한다.

Memory Compaction Scheme with Block-Level Buffer for Large Flash Memory

  • In flash memory, many previous garbage collection methods only merge blocks statically and do not consider the contents of buffer. These schemes may cause more unnecessary block erase operations and page copy operations. However, since flash memory has the limitation of maximum rate and life cycle to delete each block, an efficient garbage collection method to evenly wear out the flash memory region is needed. This paper proposes a memory compaction scheme based on block-level buffer for flash memory. The proposed scheme not only merges the data blocks and the corresponding log block, but also searches for the block-level buffer to find the corresponding buffer blocks. Consequently, unnecessary potential page copying operations and block erasure operations could be reduced, thereby improving the performance of flash memory and prolonging the lifetime of flash memory.

  • Flash animation occupied public attention since . It started to by payed attention through the internet first, and it spread into the off line. Flash animation becomes one of animation genre, as it tooks the place at the international animation festival. Also, as it is produced for tv, and the cinema, it has an infinite of possibilities. In this point, we have to notice that the domestic flash animation is the most successful in the world. Therefore, this paper will show accomplishment point and distinction of flash animation. Chapter 1, 2, will talk about basic outline and practical use of flash. Chapter 3 will look at a growth industry and process of flash animation, focused on Mashmaro, Zolaman, and Woobyboy. Chapter 4, will discuss about accomplishment point and distinction of flash animation compare with existing animation. Also it will conclude with a reflection on recommendations for further improvement.

휴대단말기 저장매체인 플래시 메모리 특성 분석 (Analysis of flash memory characteristics as storage medium of mobile equipments)

  • Recently flash memory is widely used in various mobile devices as storage medium. Nonvolatile memory can be divided into two categories: NAND- and NOR-type flash memory. NOR flash memory is mainly used to store instruction codes for operation; while NAND for data storage. However, NAND does show more economical benefits, that is, it is approximately 30~40% cheaper than NOR flash. Therefore it can be useful to improve NAND flash performance by replacing NOR flash with NAND flash combining with various buffer systems.

  • 본 논문에서는 NAND FLASH Memory를 HDD 의 Cache 로 사용하기 위해 I/O 용 Filter Driver의 구현을 제시 했으며, 이를 통해 HDD 저장장치의 느린 I/O 성능을 개선하기 위한 방법에 대해 연구했다. 반도체 부품으로서 빠른 I/O 성능을 보이는 NAND FLASH Memory이지만, 비싼 가격 때문에 HDD를 통째로 대체할 수 없음에서 본 개선 방법을 제안했다. 본 연구는 SSD의 빠른 I/O성능과 Filter Driver 의 Cache 관리 성능을 통해서 적은 비용으로 HDD의 높은 Performance를 이루어 냄을 목적으로 한다.

A New Flash-aware Buffering Scheme Supporting Virtual Page Flushing

  • Recently, NAND-type flash memory has been regarded to be new promising storage media for large-scale database systems. For flash memory to be employed for that purpose, we need to reduce its expensive update cost caused by the inablity of in-place updates. To remedy such a drawback in flash memory, we propose a new flash-aware buffering scheme that enables virtual flushing of dirty pages. To this end, we slightly alter the tradional algorithms used for the logging scheme and buffer management scheme. By using the mechanism of virtual flushing, our proposed buffering scheme can efficiently prevent the frequenct occureces of page updates in flash storage. Besides the advantage of reduced page updates, the proposed viurtual flushing mechanism works favorably for shorneing a recocery time in the presense of failure. This is because it can reduce the time for redo actions during a recovry process. Owing to those two benefits, we can say that our scheme couble be very profitable when it is incorporated into cutting-edge flash-based database systems.

유출수문곡선과 돌발홍수지수를 이용한 돌발홍수심도 산정 (Estimation of the Flash Flood Severity using Runoff hydrograph and Flash flood index)

  • 지금까지 돌발홍수는 주로 강우의 시공간적인 특성들을 고려한 기후학적 측면에서 관심을 가지고 연구가 진행되어 왔을 뿐 유출의 시각에서 돌발홍수를 평가하기 위한 노력은 매우 미흡하였다고 할 수 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 Bhaskar 등(2000)의 연구를 우리나라에 적용하여 유출수문곡선에 의해 돌발홍수를 설명하고, 다른 홍수사상과 돌발 홍수 사상을 구별하고자 하는데 있다. 즉, 유출수문곡선의 특성을 이용해 홍수사상에 대한 돌발홍수지수(flash flood index)를 산정함으로써 돌발홍수의 심각성 정도를 정량화하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 본 논문에서는 한강유역의 과거 101개의 홍수사상에 대해 돌발홍수의 상대심도(relative severity)를 파악하기 위하여 돌발홍수지수를 산정하였으며 또한, 2006년 7월의 집중호우에 의해 발생한 홍수사상의 돌발홍수 심도를 시공간적으로 정량화하였다. 분석 결과, 한강유역의 다른 지역에 비해 강원도 지역의 홍수 유출수문곡선들이 돌발홍수 심도를 크게 나타내었으며 중랑천 등과 같은 도시유역에서도 돌발심도가 크게 나타남을 확인 할 수 있었다. 2006년 7월 집중호우에 의한 한강유역의 돌발홍수지수를 7월 전반기, 중반기 그리고 하반기로 나누어 시공간적 공간분포를 분석한 결과, 7월 전반기의 경우 서울 주변지역의 돌발심도가 크게 나타났으며 7월 중반기의 경우 강원도 지역의 돌발홍수 심도가 크게 나타났다.
