The need for the effective flame retardant finishing for synthetic fiber Is required. This paper is focussed on the analysis of physical properties of nylon 6 fabric treated with tris(2-chloroethyl) phosphate(TCEP) in comparision with the untreated fabric. In order to evaluate the flame retardance effect, limiting oxygen index and burn rate were determined. Above 20% add-on of TCEP on nylon 6 fabric, reasonable flame retardancy was observed. Thermal stability of the treated nylon 6 fabric was evaluated by TGA. It seems that TCEP acts via a condensed phase mechanism. Tenacity and moisture regain of the treated fabrics were not changed and washfastness of those was excellent.

This study has investigated radiation degradation of chloroprene rubber in the presence of some fire retardant. Ammonium polyphosphate, aluminium trihydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, calcium carbonate and antimony trioxide were selected as flame retardant. Samples were irradiated using a Co$^{60}$${\gamma}$ -ray and ray up to 2000 kGy at a dose rate of 5 kGy/hr in the presence of air atmosphere at room temperature. After irradiation, samples were assessed fire retardancy with electrical properties and mechanical properties. Some considerations concerning the effects of the fire retardants added to chloroprene rubber on the radiation and thermal stability of chloroprene rubber are presented. From fire retardancy with electrical and mechanical property measurements, it was found that addition of magnesium hydroxide resulted in maximum fire retardant effect.
In order to improve flame retardancy, the halogen free organic melamine phosphate(M-P) flame retardant was synthesized from melamine and phosphoric acid by the reaction of precipitation. The ignition test was carried out preparing hybrid flame retardant compound($H_bFRC$) consisting of organic M-P and inorganic Mg$(OH)_2$ as a flame retardant in the polyolefin resins. The flame retardancy and mechanical properties of flame retardant aluminum composite panel($H_bFRC$-ACP) were performed to investigate the possibility of the composite material, which was contained M-P, as a inner core for $H_bFRC$-ACP. For this study, the results of ignition test indicate that a char formation and drip suppressing effect, and combustion time reduced as the content of M-P increased. The limited oxygen index(LOI) values were measured 17.4vol% and 31.5vol% for LDPE only and $H_bFRC$-3(M-P content: 15wt%), respectively. And it was verified that the $H_bFRC$-3 was needed more oxygen quantity with the increase of M-P content when it combustion. Also, the results from thermogravimetric analysis were observed endothermic peak at $350^{\circ}C$ and $550^{\circ}C$, it was confirmed predominant thermal stability though the wide temperature range by the mixture of M-P and Mg$(OH)_2$. The LDPE-ACP (using only LDPE as a inner core), $35.13kW/m^2$ of heat release rate(HRR) and 13.43MJ/m2 of total heat release(THR) were measured while the $H_bFRC$-ACP, $10.44kW/m^2$ of HRR and 1.84MJ/m2 of THR were measured by results of cone calorimeter test. In case of $H_bFRC$-ACP, the average gas emission amount of CO and $CO_2$ could be decreased down to 25% and 20%, respectively, in comparison with LDPE-ACP. The mechanical properties such as tensile strength, bending strength and adhesion strength of $H_bFRC$-ACP were revealed slightly high values $54N/mm^2$, $152N/mm^2$ and 120N/25mm, respectively, compared with LDPE-ACP. It was confirmed that flame retardancy was improved with the synergy effect because of char formation by M-P and hydrolysis by Mg$(OH)_2$. The result of this study suggest that $H_bFRC$ can be applied for an adequate halogen free flame retardant composite material as a inner core for ACP.

In order to obtain the maximum flame retardancy as well as the minimum deterioration of physical properties of PU flame-retardant coatings, chlorine and phosphorus functional groups were introduced into the pre-polymer of modified polyesters. In the first step, the tetramethylene bis(orthophosphate) (TBOP) and neohexanediol dichloroacetate (DCA-adduct) intermediates were synthesized. In the second step, 1,4-butanediol and adipic acid monomers were polymerized with the two kinds of intermediates to obtain copolymers. The modified polyesters containing chlorine and phosphorus (ATBA-10C, -20C, and -30C) were synthesized by adjusting that the content of phosphorus compound was fixed as 2wt% and the contents of chlorine compound (dichloroacetic acid) were varied as 10, 20, and 30wt%. Average molecular weight and polydispersity index of the preparation of ATBAs were decreased with increasing DCA content because of the increase in hydroxyl group that retards reaction.
For low-smoke-type polyolefin compound, LDPE, EVA, and EEA as base resin, magnesium trihydrate, alumina trihydrate, and red phosphorous as flame retardant and MAH type compatibilizer were applied. The amount of each component was changed to find out optimum composition. Mechanical properties were obtained by tensile test and residual stress after aging and flame retardancy was evaluated by smoke density, LOI(Limit Oxygen Index), and UL-94 test. SEM was used for the investigation or morphology and halogen contents were obtained by measuring the amount of HCI. Two kinds of halogen free compositions for flame retardant and low smote resin were found and it is expected to be applied for various purposes.
Purpose: In this paper we present a case study of applying quick and easy experimental design approach to develop a Halogen free flame retardant material for cellular phone charger cable. Methods: We employ sequential experimentation of mixture design, verification design, and factorial design. A quick and easy approach is adopted based on data investigation and graphical method instead of strict statistical analysis, which helped enhancing smooth communication with the engineers and speeding up the development process. Results: Flame retardant material in pellet type produced from the optimal condition is transported to the customer and tested, to pass the customer retardancy criteria. Conclusion: The quick and easy experimental design approach is considered to be useful in this case study.
The mend for fabric products has been increased remarkably with increasing population, housings, mutistory buildings,...and etc. during the last two decades. However, since fabrics are highly combustible and can produce toxic gases during the combution, fabric products can result in serious human injury as well as financial damage. Acknowledged by this, a new phosphorus based flame retardant suitable for PET fabric has been synthesized by making use of the reaction of diphenyl chloro phosphate and hexamethylenediamine. Since the starting meterials are relatively cheap and the yield of this reaction is high (more than 90%), this reaction seems to be very effective as wall as very economic. By analyzing various spectrophotometric analysis data such as NMR, FT-IR, and Mass, this new flame retardant is identified to be N,N’-Bis(diphenyl chlorophosphoro)diamino hexane. In the mean time, DSC measurement has shown that the melting point and the boiling point of this material are around 115$^{\circ}C$ and around 40$0^{\circ}C$, respectively. The flame retardancy test done on the PET fabric processed by this flame retardant have shown excellent in times of flame contact, times of flame contact for washable. The most economical finishing condition estimated 10% in concentration of BDPDH, Moreover, it has been also found that the drape stiffness of the PET fiber processed by the flame retartant is changed very litter compared to the unprocessed original PET fabrics. Judging from this, the potential of this new phosphrdus based compond as a flame retardant for PET fabric seems to be high.
Two-component polyurethane flame-retardant coatings were prepared by blending trichloro lactone modified polyesters (TAPTS) and isocyanate, Desmodur IL. Polycondensation reaction of trichlorobenzoic acid (TBA) as a flame-retardant component, and adipic acid with trimethylolpropane, polycaprolactone 0201, and 1,4-butanediol gave the corresponding TAPTs. The content of TBA was adjusted from 10 to 30 wt% in our experiment. It was found that various properties of these new flame-retardant coatings were comparable to other non-flame-retardant coatings. We also carried out three different tests for the measurement of flammability of flame -retardant coatings. The results of vertical burning test for the coatings containing more than 20 wt% of TBA were determined as 'no burn'. The results of flammability test for the coatings with 20 and 30 wt% of TBA contents indicated the limiting oxygen index (LOI) values of 25% and 27% respectively, which implied relatively good flame retardancy. They also showed the char length of 3.6-5.2 cm according to $45^{\circ}$ Meckel burner test, which can be classified as the first grade flame-retardant coatings.

In this study, the effect of phosphorus flame retardants on the flame retardancy of the flexible polyurethane foam (PUF) was investigated. Tetramethylene bis(orthophosphorylurea) [TBPU] and phosphinyl alkylphosphate ester [CR-530], resorcinol bis diphenylphosphate [RDP], triethyl phosphate [TEP] were used as flame retardants. The results of thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) indicate that TBPU added PUF produces more charred residues than the other flame retardant added PUF. It was found that TBPU added PUF exhibits low mean heat release rate (HRR), peak HRR, effective heat of combusion (EHC), mass loss rate (MLR), CO yield and $CO_2$ compared to those other flame retardants.
The effect of $Al(OH)_3$ on physical, thermal, and retardant property of rubber was studied. It was analyzed by statistical experimental design method with one way array to confirm the effect of factors. Physical characteristics, thermal pyrolysis temperature, and combustion time were considered as the properties. The amount of $Al(OH)_3$ addition was chosen as significant parameter. As the result of ANOVA analysis, thermal pyrolysis temperature increased and combustion time decreased with increasing of $Al(OH)_3$.
