  • Simulation model of induction type fixed speed wind power generator is developed. It is shown that the peak value of inrush current during start up changes according to the firing angle control strategy of soft starter. New proposed firing angle control scheme showed $25\%$ of reduction of peak current which results in smaller drop of gird voltage at the point of common coupling during start up.

Estimating the Difference of Two Normal Means

  • A three stage sampling procedure designed to estimate the difference betweentwo normal means is proposed and evaluated within a unified decision-theoretic framework. Both point and fixed-width confidence interval estimation are combined in a single decision rule to make full use of the available data. Adjustments to previous solutions focusing on only one of the latter objectives are indicated. The sensitivity of the confidence interval for detecting shifts in true mean difference is also investigated Numerical and simulation studies are presented to supplement the theoretical results.

A Comparison of Influence Diagnostics in Linear Mixed Models

  • Standard estimation methods for linear mixed models are sensitive to influential observations. However, tools and concepts for linear mixed model diagnostics are rudimentary until now and research is heavily demanded in linear mixed models. In this paper, we consider two diagnostics to evaluate the effects of individual observations in the estimation of fixed effects for linear mixed models. Those are Cook's distance and COVRATIO. Results of our limited simulation study suggest that the Cook's distance is not good statistical quantity in linear mixed models. Also calibration point for COVRATIO seems to be quite conservative.

Performance of Two-User Two-Way Amplify-and-Forward Relaying Systems with Scheduling

  • In this paper, we study scheduling schemes for two-user two-way wireless relaying systems. Two transmission modes are considered: point-to-point direct transmission and two-way amplify-and-forward relaying. An optimal scheduling scheme that opportunistically selects the best transmission mode for each user is proposed to minimize the sum bit error rate (BER). The performance lower bound of the optimal scheduling scheme is analyzed, and closed-form expression of the lower-bound BER is derived. However, for optimal scheduling, the scheduler requires the knowledge of channel state information (CSI) of all links. To reduce the feedback information of CSI, we also propose a suboptimal scheduling scheme that selects the transmission mode using only the CSI of two direct links. Simulation results show that there are 4 dB to 8 dB gains for the proposed optimal and suboptimal schemes over the fixed direct transmission and fixed two-way relayed transmission scheme. The performance gap between the optimal and suboptimal scheduling schemes is small, which implies a good trade-off between implementation complexity and system performance.

  • 본 논문에서는 CS-ACELP(Conjugate Structure Algebraic Code Excited Linear prediction) 음성부호화기의 실시간 구현에 관하여 논한다. CS-ACELP 알고리즘은 ITU-T에서 G.729로 표준화되었다. CS-ACELP 음성부호화 알고리즘의 실시간 구현은 16비트 정수형 DSP 칩을 사용하였다. 16비트 정수형 DSP 칩상에 구현하기 위하여, CS-ACELP 알고리즘의 정수형 시뮬레이션을 사용하였다. CS-ACELP 음성부호화기에 포함된 입출력기능과 통신 기능을 설명한다. DSP Evaluation board를 사용하여 CS-ACELP 음성부호화기를 개발하였고 IMT-2000 Test-bed를 사용하여 검증하였다.

이온 결합 물질에 대한 원자간 포텐셜 모델 (Interatomic Potential Models for Ionic Systems - An Overview)

  • A review of the development history of interatomic potential models for ionic materials was carried out paying attention to the way of future development of an interatomic potential model that can cover ionic, covalent and metallic bonding materials simultaneously. Earlier pair potential models based on fixed point charges with and without considering the electronic polarization effect were found to satisfactorily describe the fundamental physical properties of crystalline oxides (Ti oxides, $SiO_2$, for example) and their polymorphs, However, pair potential models are limited in dealing with pure elements such as Ti or Si. Another limitation of the fixed point charge model is that it cannot describe the charge variation on individual atoms depending on the local atomic environment. Those limitations lead to the development of many-body potential models(EAM or Tersoff), a charge equilibration (Qeq) model, and a combination of a many-body potential model and the Qeq model. EAM+Qeq can be applied to metal oxides, while Tersoff+Qeq can be applied to Si oxides. As a means to describe reactions between Si oxides and metallic elements, the combination of 2NN MEAM that can describe both covalent and metallic elements and the Qeq model is proposed.

NEC 7720 DSP를 이용한 SBC codec의 실시간 구현 (Real-Time Implementation of a SBC Codec Using a NEC 7720 DSP)

  • In this paper we have designed and implemented a real-time, full-duplex SBC (sub-band coding) codec at 16kbps using a high speed digital signal processor, NEC 7720. The SBC codec employs a QMF(quadrature mirror filter) filter bank based on the tree structures of two-band analysis-synthesis pairs to partition speech signal into 4 octabe bands. Computer simulation has been done to investigate the effect of fixed-point computation of the NEC 7720. Three different performance measures, the conventional signal-to-noise ratio, the informal listening test, and an LPC(linear predictive coding)distance measure, have been used in this simulation. The necessary parameters have been optimized through the simulation. The developed hardware and software have been tested in real-time operation using a hardware emulator.

오프라인 항법을 위한 비선형 고정구간 스무더 설계 (Design of Nonlinear Fixed-interval Smoother for Off-line Navigation)

  • We propose a new type of nonlinear fixed interval smoother to which an existing nonlinear smoother is modified. The nonlinear smoother is derived from two-filter formulas. For the backward filter. the propagation and the update equation of error states are derived. In particular, the modified update equation of the backward filter uses the estimated error terms from the forward filter. Data fusion algorithm, which combines the forward filter result and the backward filter result, is altered into the compatible form with the new type of the backward filter. The proposed algorithm is more efficient than the existing one because propagation in backward filter is very simple from the implementation point of view. We apply the proposed nonlinear smoothing algorithm to off-line navigation system and show the proposed algorithm estimates position, and altitude fairly well through the computer simulation.

Existence and Uniqueness Results for a Coupled System of Nonlinear Fractional Langevin Equations

  • In this paper, we present a sufficient condition for the unique existence of solutions for a coupled system of nonlinear fractional Langevin equations with a new class of multipoint and nonlocal integral boundary conditions. We define a 𝓩*λ-contraction mapping and present the sufficient condition by identifying the problem with an equivalent fixed point problem in the context of b-metric spaces. Finally, some numerical examples are given to validate our main results.

다중 입출력과 적응형 빔형성 기술 결합기법을 적용한 직교주파수분할 다중 접속시스템의 성능 분석 (Performance Analysis of MlMO-OFDMA System Combined with Adaptive Beamforming)

  • 본 논문에서는 공간 다중화 방식과 적응형 빔 형성 기법을 결합한 다중 안테나 시스템에 대한 하향 링크 성능이 다루어진다. 이 결합 기법은 IEEE 802.16e 표준에 기반한 한국형 직교 주파수 분할 다중 접속 표준인 와이브로 시스템에 적용되었다. 성능 분석은 고정 소수점 모의실험 테스트 장비 및 컴퓨터 모의실험을 사용하여 수행되었다. 실험결과는 와이브로 시스템에 다중 입출력과 적응형 빔형성 기법이 결합되어 적용될 경우 기존의 단순한 다중 입출력 방식만 사용할 때보다 프레임 에러율 1%를 기준으로 QPSK에 대해서는 3dB, 16QAM에 대해서는 2.5dB의 신호 대 잡음비 이득을 제공함이 밝혀졌다. 고정 소수점 모의실험 테스트 장비 구현과 이를 이용한 실험을 통해, 다중 입출력과 적응형 빔형성의 결합 기법이 와이브로 기지국에 적용 가능함을 보여주였다.
