This study was to evaluate the stream depletion rate from groundwater pumping with varying stream-well distance, aquifer transmissivity, storage coefficient, leakage coefficient, streambed hydraulic conductance using the Zlotnik and Tartakovsky analytical solution which considers a two-layer leaky aquifer-stream-well system. For the hydraulic conditions applied in this study, the streambed hydraulic conductance and the aquitard leakage coefficient were assessed to have a dominant influence on the stream depletion rate. In order to evaluate the applicability of Zlotnik and Tartakovsky analytical solution ignoring the change in the drawdown in the lower aquifer and applying the fixed head boundary condition, the solution was compared with Hunt analytical solution derived from the more practical conditions simultaneously taking into account the drawdown changes in the upper and lower aquifers. As a result, the Zlotnik and Tartakovsky analytical solution is suitable for predicting short-term effects of less than one year in the pumping period, and when the stream depletion factor (SDF) is greater than 2,500 days, or when the product of the leakage coefficient and the stream-well distance is less than 10 cm/s.
This paper deals with the morphology and taxonomy of the first reported species of echinostome belonging to the genus Himasthla Dietz, 1909, found from dunlins (Calidris alpina sakhalina) in Korea. Birds were captured with mist-nets at the tidal flat of Yeochari, Kanghwa-gun, Kyunggi-do, Korea. The worms were removed from avian intestines in physiological saline, fixed, acetocarmine stained and observed. Himasthla kusasigi Yamaguti, which was found in 1939, was characterized morphologically by a long and slender body (5.27 mm in length), besetting with spines and reniform head collar (0.27 mm) in a form of a single and uninterrupted row of 31 spines. The oral sucker (0.057$\times$0.0684 mm) is smaller than the ventral sucker (0.35$\times$0.29 mm). The ventral sucker was close to the anterior extremity of the body. The worm had two elliptical testes (anterior 0.47$\times$0.30 mm, posterior 0.59$\times$0.27 mm). The testes were close to the posterior end of the body. The uterus was very long, winding and extending through at least two thirds of the body length. The ovary (0.13$\times$0.14mm) was round and small. Below the ovary, a round and small seminal receptacle was found.

Background: High-risk human papillomaviruses (HR-HPV), particularly types 16 and 18, have been found to play an important role in head and neck cancer, including oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) and oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). p16, a cell cycle inhibitor, has been postulated as a surrogate marker for HR-HPV, since p16 is aberrantly overexpressed in such lesions, especially in HR-HPV-positive OPSCC. However, p16 as a surrogate marker for HR-HPV infection in cancers of the oral cavity remains controversial. Objective: The objectives of the study were to investigate the expression of p16 and the presence of HR-HPV in OSCC and oral verrucous carcinoma (VC) and to determine if p16 could be used as a surrogate marker for HR-HPV. Materials and Methods: Forty one formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues of OSCC (n=37) or VC (n=4) with clinical and histopathologic data of each case were collected. Expression of p16 was determined by immunohistochemistry, focusing on both staining intensity and numbers of positive cells. The presence of HPV types 16 and 18 was detected by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Descriptive statistics were employed to describe the demographic, clinical, and histopathologic parameters. Associations between p16 overexpression, HR-HPV and all variables were determined by Fisher's exact test, odds ratios (ORs) and corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CIs). In addition, the use of p16 as a surrogate marker for HR-HPV was analyzed by sensitivity and specificity tests. Results: p16 was overexpressed in 8/37 cases (21.6%) of OSCC and 2/4 cases (50%) of VC. HPV-16 was detected in 4/34 OSCC cases (11.8%) and HPV-18 was detected in 1/34 OSCC cases (2.9%). Co-infection of HPV-16/18 was detected in 1/4 VC cases (25%). Both p16 overexpression and HR-HPV were significantly associated with young patients with both OSCC and VC (p<0.05, OR 20, 95% CI 1.9-211.8; p<0.05, OR 23.3, 95% CI 2.4-229.7, respectively). p16 was able to predict the presence of HPV-16/18 in OSCC with 40% sensitivity and 79.3% specificity and in VC with 100% sensitivity and 66.7% specificity, respectively. Conclusions: p16 overexpression was found in 24.4% of both OSCC and VC. HR-HPV, regardless of type, was detected in 15.8% in cases of OSCC and VC combined. The results of sensitivity and specificity tests suggest that p16 can be used as a surrogate marker for HR-HPV in OSCC and VC.

A multicast traffic’s feature is the function of providing a point to multipoints cell transmission, which is emerging from the main function of ATM switch. However, when a conventional point-to-point switch executes a multicast function, the excess load is occurred because unicast cell as well as multicast cell passed the copy network. Additionally, due to the excess load, multicast cells collide with other cells in a switch. Thus a deadlock that losses cells raises, extremely diminishes the performance of switch. An input queued switch also has a defect of the HOL (Head of Line) blocking that less lessens the performance of the switch. In the proposed multicast switch, we use shared memory switch to reduce HOL blocking and deadlock. In order to decrease switch’s complexity and cell's processing time, to improve a throughput, we utilize the method that routes a cell on a separated paths by traffic pattern and the scheduling algorithm that processes a maximum 2N cell at once in the control part. Besides, when cells is congested at an output port, a cell loss probability increases. Thus we use the Output Memory (OM) to reduce the cell loss probability. And we make use of the method that stores the assigned memory (UM, MM) with a cell by a traffic pattern and clears the cell of the Output memory after a fixed saving time to improve the memory utilization rate. The performance of the proposed switch is executed and compared with the conventional policy under the burst traffic condition through both the analysis based on Markov chain and simulation.
Gated SPECT can evaluate the regional wall motion of the heart. We evaluated the regional wall motion of the perfusion abnormality in conventional perfusion SPECT with gated SPECT. In case of suspicious perfusion abnormalities, we tried to differentiate the artifact from true abnormality in coronary vascular disease using gated SPECT. We thought that artifacts would have normal wall motion, whereas fixed defects with decreased wall motion would probably represent coronary artery disease. A total of 275 patients who were performed coronary angiography and T1-201 rest/Tc-99m MIBI dipyridamole stress gated SPECT within 2 months were enrolled. In coronary angiography, stenosis more than 50% was considered as coronary artery disease. After injection of 111MBq T1-201 rest image was obtained on triple head SPECT system. 370MBg Tc-99m MIBI was used for the stress image. Eight-frame per-cardiac-cycle gated Tc-99m SPECT studies were done. All the images were analyzed visually. Using perfusion SPECT, the overall sensitivity and specificity were 87% and 55% respectively. Regarding artery territory, sensitivity and specificity were 68% and 73% for left anterior descending artery(LAD), 62% and 78% for right coronary artery(RCA), 42% and 90% for left ciramflex artery(LCX). Using gated SPECT, the overall sensitivity and specificity were 87% and 66% respectively. Sensitivity and specificity were 68% and 78% for LAD, 62% and 79% for RCA, 42% and 90% for LCX. Among 21 false positive cases in perfusion SPECT, 5 cases were interpreted as true negative with gated SPECT. We conclude that gated SPECT provides a valuable adjunct to perfusion SPECT in characterizing perfusion abnormalities and to improve specificity.
The p-y curve has been used to design pile foundations subjected to lateral loading. Although the p-y curve has a large influence on the pile lateral behavior, p-y curves have not been clearly suggested. In this study, the p-y curve of clay was evaluated for drilled shafts in marine deposits by using 3-dimensional numerical analyses. First, the optimization study was performed to properly determine boundary extent, mesh size, and interface stiffness. The numerical modeling in the study was verified by comparing the calculated and the pile loading test results. Then, the p-y curves of single and group piles were evaluated from the parametric study. The selected parameters were pile diameter, pile Young's modulus and pile head fixed condition for a single pile, and pile spacing for group piles. Finally, the p-multiplier was evaluated by comparing the p-y curves of a single pile and group piles. As a result, the p-multiplier at pile spacing of 3D was 0.83, 0.67 and 0.78 for the front, middle, and back row piles, respectively, and showed values similar to those of O'Neill and Reese (1999). For the pile group with pile spacing larger than 60, the group effect can be ignorable.
A immobilizing device that is essential for correct lung and lens shielding with homogenous dose distribution in fractionated total body irradiation was developed and it's efficiency was evaluated. The main frame was made of stainless steel bar (5 cm in diameter) to withstand up to 230 cm in height and 100 kg in weight to prevent any injury even in unconsciousness condition. The saddle was designed to adjust the body weight and hight of standing patients. Chest and back supporter were made of 1 cm acryl which could fix the lung block and cassette holder. Leather and sponge pedding were used for head rest to keep patients comfortable. The device was strongly fixed by specially designed bolts on the bottom panel which was made of 1 cm stainless steel and 10 cm thick wooden board. Precise manipulation ($\pm$2 mm) was possible by upper two pulleys and side handles. Average four minutes twenty five seconds were needed for exact setting in fractionated TBI. No significant difference of lung block location on repeated verification films was confirmed and relatively homogeneous dose distribution was measured in rando phantom experiments and patient treatments ($\pm$5%). This immobilizing device was very efficient to keep correct position of patients, which is essential for better result and less complication in fractionated TBI.

The prompt and accurate location determination of the nodes of the wireless indoor shipboard networks is crucial to forming the stable wireless shipboard sensor networks. To this end in this paper it can be achieved through the measurement of the bi-directional channel qualities among the nodes after the locations of the sensor nodes temporarily placed. For the 1st stage the piconet-type sensor networks are considered to measure the channel qualities between a specific node and the cluster node which is the master node. After finishing the 1st stage measurement the nodes needing the relay nodes are selected and the measurement action goes into the 2nd stage. In the 2nd stage the measurement between a candidate relay node and the node needing a relay node starts to begin. After the 2nd stage the relay nodes to connect to the cluster node are fixed and the information delivery paths between a node and the cluster head are established. In this paper the measurement results in the realistic environment are gathered and analysed to show that the measurement procedure can be applied in the wireless indoor shipboard networks.
This experiment was performed to study the morphological responses of the pigment epithelial cell and the Bruch's membrane of the retina of rat following X-ray irradiation. Male rats were divided into normal and experimental groups. The heads of the rats, under sodium thiopental anesthesia, were exposed to 3,000 rads or 6,000 rads of radiation in a single dose, respectively. The source was a Mitsubishi Linear Accelerator ML-4MV. The target to skin distance was 80cm, and the. dose rate was 200 rads/min. The experimental groups were sacrificed on the 6th hour, 2nd and 6th day after X-ray irradiation. Under anesthesia, 1% glutaraldehyde-1% paraformaldehyde solution(0.1M Millonig's phosphate buffer, pH 7.3) was perfused through the left ventricle and ascending aorta. Pieces of the tissue taken from the posterior region of the retina were fixed in 2.5% glutaraldehyde-1.5% paraformaldehyde(0.1M Millonig's phosphate buffer, pH 7.3) and 1% osmium tetroxide(0.1M Millonig's phosphate buffer, pH7.3), and embedded in araldite mixture. The ultrathin sections contrasted with uranyl acetate and lead citrate were observed with JEM 100 CX-II electron microscope. The results were as follow; 1. The morphological changes of the pigment epithelial cells were not pronounced after exposure to 3,000 rads of X-ray. But on the 6th hour after exposure to 6,000 rads of X-ray, bulging nuclear membrane protruding into the cytoplasm and nuclear chromatin clumped into numerous masses along the nuclear membrane were observed. At the 2nd and 6th day post-irradiation, partial cytolysis or necrosis were seen. 2. The thickness of the Bruch's membrane of the experimental groups were increased in the time and dose range covered by this study, and splitting or diffusing basal laminae of the choriocapillary layer were observed frequently in the experimental group. Above results suggest that large amount(6,000 rads) of head irradiation induce direct hazardous effects on the pigment epitherial cells and Bruch's membrane of the retina of the rat, but pigment epithelial cells are more radioresistant than Bruch's membrane.

This paper is a purpose to study and analyze the failure examples for timing belt, camshaft position sensor and ignition coil of LPG automotive engine. The first example, whe the service man install the front case bracket of engine, he excessively tightened up a 12mm bolt for being fixed of brackct. As a results, the bolt was separated from joint part so that it was put in between the crankshaft sprocket. Therefore the belt was broken off because of interference between timing belt and sprocket tooth. The second example, it verified the disharmony phenenomen of engine that the gap of the camshaft position sensor and camshaft senseing point assembled on cylinder head part was small more than iregular value so that the it was generated senseing damage phenomenon by pulse signal misconduct. The third example, it was found the engine disharmony phenomenon that the fire in the ignition coil was leaked by inner damage of Number 2 ignition coil. Therefore, the the manager of a car throughtly have to inspect not in order to arise the failure symptoms.
