스포츠센터 운동기구 예약 시스템의 설계 및 구현 (Design and Implementation of Exercise Machines Reservation System for Fitness Center)

  • 본 논문에서는 NFC 통신기술 기반의 스마트밴드를 이용하여 스포츠 센터의 운동기구를 예약하여 사용할 수 있도록 하는 운동기구 예약 시스템을 설계하고 구현한다. 사용자는 스마트밴드를 통하여 언제 어떤 운동 기구를 사용해야 하는지 알림 정보를 수신할 수 있다. 사용자는 추천 운동 프로그램을 활용하여 운동을 할 수 있고, 피크 시간에도 대기인원이 없기 때문에 편하게 원하는 운동기구를 사용할 수 있다. 또한, 관리자는 효율적인 시설관리를 통해 비용을 절감할 수 있고 수집된 운동 정보를 통해 사용자에게 맞춤 정보를 제공함으로써 경쟁력 있는 센터 운영이 가능하다.

  • 많은 웨어러블 스마트 피트니스 장치들이 심박수와 관련된 서비스를 제공한다. 이러한 서비스는 통계를 기반으로 사전 결정한 고정 수치를 기준으로 이용한다. 그러나 사람들의 신체조건은 개개인마다 다르기 때문에, 모든 개개인을 같은 기준으로 적용하는 서비스는 신뢰성이 낮다. 본 논문에서는 사용자의 운동 능력에 맞추어 심박수의 기준이 변동하는 피드백-RFC 모델과, 모델을 구현하는 방법을 제안한다. 그리고 12명의 실험참가자들로부터 심장박동 데이터를 수집하여 모델을 평가함으로써 제안 모델의 효용성을 보인다.

  • The Microsoft Kinect is a motion sensing input device which is widely used for many motion recognition applications such as fitness, sports, and rehabilitation. Until now, most of remote rehabilitation systems with the Microsoft Kinect have allowed the user or patient to do rehabilitation or fitness by following the motion of a video screen. However in this paper we propose a smart remote rehabilitation system with the Microsoft Kinect motion sensor and a wearable ECG sensor which can allow patients to offer monitoring of the individual's performance and personalized feedback on rehabilitation exercises. The proposed noble smart remote rehabilitation is able to monitor and measure the state of the patient's condition during rehabilitation exercise, and transmits it to the prescriber. This system can give feedback to a prescriber, a doctor and a patient for improving and recovering motor performance. Thus, the efficient rehabilitation training service can be provided to patient in response to changes of patient's condition during exercise.

  • u-헬스케어 관점에서 볼 때, 심박수(heart rate)는 아픈 사람의 질환을 관리하는 일리스(illness)나 건강한 사람의 건강을 지속적으로 관리하는 웰니스(wellness) 분야에 모두 유용하게 사용된다. 이는 심박수가 질환의 증상을 판단하거나 운동 부하의 지표로서 모두 사용될 수 있기 때문이다. 최근에 착용형 센서(wearable sensors)를 이용하여 상시적으로 심박수를 모니터링하여 이에 기반하여 현재 몸 상태를 점검해볼 수 있는 다양한 심박계(heart rate monitor)와 이와 연동하여 심박수를 이용한 다양한 운동관리 스마트폰 앱이 개발되어 출시되고 있다. 그러나 이러한 스마트폰 앱은 모두 개인 용도로 제한된다. 논문에서는 여러 사람들의 심박수를 동시에 실시간으로 모니터링할 수 있는 시스템을 설계하고, 이를 적용할 수 있는 안드로이드 앱을 개발한다. 개발된 앱의 주요 기능은 다수 이용자에 대한 동시적 심박수 모니터링으로 피트니스 센터에 효과적으로 적용 가능하다.

대여 웨딩드레스의 상반신 사이즈 분류에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Classification of an Bodice Size of Rent Wedding Dress)

  • The object of this study lies on classifying the size, which is mostly favored in Korea where the wedding dress is usually regarded as an article for rent, and on suggesting the range of sleeve design and that of neck line of bodice. For that, I extracted the average size by analyzing and researching the standard size of actual bodice from real wedding dress manufacturing company. According to the result of the research I named the standard size of Korean wedding dress for rent as 'WM' which has the girth of 88cm and the waist measure of 69cm. Based on the size 'WM', I also named the size 'WS' which has the girth of 82cm with extra length of 6cm up and down and the waist measure of 64cm with extra length of 5cm, and the size 'WL' which has the girth of 94cm and the waist measure of 74cm with same extra length as the size 'WS'. The extra space for the inseam of the back is 3 inches for left and right for all sizes and the mark of body size is standardized as 'girth-waist measure'. After that, I suggested the design types of sleeves and neck line of bodice which defined as its size by classifying the bodice of wedding dress based on its size. Generally the neck line of the tank top style has the widest range of wearable size, and the high neck line and bateau neck line types have the narrowest range. And the sleeveless type has the widest range of wearable size while the raglan type has the narrowest one.

남성 요실금 팬티에 관한 연구 (A Study on Male Panties for Urinary Incontinence)

  • This study aims to analyze the characteristics of the male products for urinary incontinence by examining the types and characteristics of those registered in KIPO (Korean Industrial Property Office). Additionally, the types and characteristics, especially for the cloth products and the pads, of male panties for urinary incontinence on the market are analyzed. Men in their 60s with minor symptoms were selected as the subjects to evaluate the wearability. The results are as follows. 11 male products for urinary incontinence, registered in KIPO, are structurally different from those for women by having a separate pocket mainly for absorption. There are one disposable type and 7 cloth types, and the cloth panties can be classified as either united or separable type depending on the detachability of pads from the panties. The types of the panties vary according to the position, shape, and size of the attached pads on normal male panties (boxer, briefs, drawers). The fabrics for the urinary incontinence are usually piled in 3 to 5 layers by having the most absorptive layer on the top, the next with deodorizing characteristics, and the bottom with the waterproof fabric as basics with some additional layers of antibiotic or breathable fabrics. From the wearability test, it has been determined that the panties are not distinguishable in external appearance and the fitness is also not a problem since the size varies as the normal panties. It has been evaluated that the fitness of the panties is an important factor since the pad should be worn in any form; the pad sewed in the middle of the panties was evaluated to be more wearable than having a long pad. In case of separable panties, when the pattern and fabric is similar to the functional panties and the options such as the thickness of the pads or detachability are given to the users, it tends to be more satisfactory.

BIOFIT - Smart, Portable, Wearable and Wireless Digital Exercise Trainer Device with Biofeedback Capability

  • Today Human Personal Trainers are becoming very famous in this health conscious world. They teach user to achieve fitness goals in managed way. Due to their high fee and tight schedule they are unavailable to mass number of people. Another solution to this problem is to develop digital personal trainer portable instrument that may replace human personal trainers. We developed a portable digital exercise trainer device - BIOFIT that manages, monitors and records the user's physical status and workout during exercise session. It guides the user to exercise efficiently for specific fitness goal. It keeps the full exercise program i.e. exercises start date and time, duration, mode, control parameter, intensity in its memory which helps the user in managing his exercise. Exercise program can be downloaded from the internet. During exercise it continuously monitors the user's physiological parameters: heart rate, number of steps walked, and energy consumed. If these parameters do not range within prescribed target zone, the BIOFIT will alarm the user as a feedback to control exercise. The BIOFIT displays these parameters on graphic LCD. During exercise it continuously records the heart rate and number of steps walked every 10 seconds along with exercise date and time. This stored information can be used as treatment for the user by an exercise expert. Real-time ECG monitoring can be viewed wirelessly (RF Communication) on a remote PC.

U-실버세대를 위한 스마트 웨어러블 및 연동 게임의 서비스 디자인 방안 탐색: 개인 맞춤형 운동처방 실행을 위한 흥미 유도 목적의 U-Hospital 솔루션 (An Exploratory Study on Smart Wearable and Game Service Design for U-Silver Generation: U-Hospital Solution for the Induction of Interest to Carry Out Personalized Exercise Prescription)

  • 초연결사회(hyper connected society)의 IoTs의 발달로 U-헬스케어 시대가 전개되며, 웰니스 라이프, 인간수명 연장 등의 사회 전반에 걸쳐 많은 변화가 야기되고 있다. 한국은 2017년 고령사회에 진입하며 초연결사회의 IoTs의 이기를 적용한 실버산업이 빠르게 성장할 것으로 전망된다. 특히 기존의 실버세대와 달리 높은 활동력과 경제력을 지닌 뉴실버세대의 웰니스 라이프에 기반한 건강증진에 관련된 높은 관심은 시니어시프트(senior shift)현상을 야기시켰다. 이에 본 연구에서는 뉴실버세대의 특성을 규명하고, 그에 맞는 U-Hospital 서비스의 일환으로 개인 맞춤형 운동처방 실행을 위한 운동 흥미 유도 목적의 웨어러블 시리어스 게임 기획 방향을 심층면접을 통해서 도출하였다. 그 결과, 'U-실버세대'를 위한 웨어러블 시리어스 게임의 사용 시나리오는 전문의료진(게임진행 지도사)과 검진의뢰자(U-실버세대) 그리고 인터페이스(컴퓨터), 3자 간의 트라이앵글 시스템이 적용된 건강검진 및 재활 모니터링을 위한 수단으로 활용되어야 할 사회적 필요성을 도출하였다. 또한 이는 실버세대의 신체기능 저하에 대한 우려를 개인 맞춤형 운동처방 수행으로 개선하기 위한 목적이며, 검진 종료 후에는 온/오프라인 커뮤니티 활동을 융합하여 실버세대의 친목도모의 니즈와 일상성을 탈피해야 하며, 게임 레벨 상승에 따른 성취감 부여를 통해 게임의 지속 가능성을 증대시켜야 할 필요성 등이 도출되었다. 이를 토대로 검진의뢰자가 선호하는 식도락 여행을 주제로 친숙한 인터페이스를 사용하고, 단순한 게임 규칙을 적용하여 디지털 디바이스 사용에 미숙한 U-실버세대의 사용성을 높인 웨어러블 시리어스 게임을 기획하였다.

Hand Gesture Segmentation Method using a Wrist-Worn Wearable Device

  • Objective: We introduce a hand gesture segmentation method using a wrist-worn wearable device which can recognize simple gestures of clenching and unclenching ones' fist. Background: There are many types of smart watches and fitness bands in the markets. And most of them already adopt a gesture interaction to provide ease of use. However, there are many cases in which the malfunction is difficult to distinguish between the user's gesture commands and user's daily life motion. It is needed to develop a simple and clear gesture segmentation method to improve the gesture interaction performance. Method: At first, we defined the gestures of making a fist (start of gesture command) and opening one's fist (end of gesture command) as segmentation gestures to distinguish a gesture. The gestures of clenching and unclenching one's fist are simple and intuitive. And we also designed a single gesture consisting of a set of making a fist, a command gesture, and opening one's fist in order. To detect segmentation gestures at the bottom of the wrist, we used a wrist strap on which an array of infrared sensors (emitters and receivers) were mounted. When a user takes gestures of making a fist and opening one's a fist, this changes the shape of the bottom of the wrist, and simultaneously changes the reflected amount of the infrared light detected by the receiver sensor. Results: An experiment was conducted in order to evaluate gesture segmentation performance. 12 participants took part in the experiment: 10 males, and 2 females with an average age of 38. The recognition rates of the segmentation gestures, clenching and unclenching one's fist, are 99.58% and 100%, respectively. Conclusion: Through the experiment, we have evaluated gesture segmentation performance and its usability. The experimental results show a potential for our suggested segmentation method in the future. Application: The results of this study can be used to develop guidelines to prevent injury in auto workers at mission assembly plants.

Accuracy Verification of Heart Rate and Energy Consumption Tracking Devices to Develop Forest-Based Customized Health Care Service Programs

  • This study was carried out to verify the accuracy of fitness tracking devices in monitoring heart rate and energy consumption and to contribute to the development of a forest exercise program that can recommend the intensity and amount of forest exercises based on personal health-related data and provide monitoring and feedback on forest exercises. Among several commercially available wearable devices, Fitbit was selected for the research, as it provides Open API and data collected by Fitbit can be utilized by third parties to develop programs. Fitbit provides users with various information collected during forest exercises including exercise time and distance, heart rate, energy consumption, as well as the altitude and slope of forests collected by GPS. However, in order to verify the usability of the heart rate and energy consumption data collected by Fitbit in forest, the accuracy of heart rate and energy consumption were verified by comparing the data collected by Fitbit and reference. In this study, 13 middle-aged women were participated, and it was found that the heart rate measured by Fitbit showed a very low error rate and high correlation with that measured by the reference. The energy consumption measured by Fitbit was not significantly different from that measured in the reference, but the error rate was slightly higher. However, there was high correlation between the results measured by Fibit and the reference, therefore, it can be concluded that Fitbit can be utilized in developing actual forest exercise programs.
