The change of fishing power index was analyzed to identify the development of the vessel and gear technology that may improve the fishing efficiency of the offshore conger eel pot fishery from 1980s to 2015. Gross tonnage per fishing vessel was rapidly increased annually. The standard of pot was maintained, but the number of pot used rapidly increased by using conger eel pot hauling devices, carrying and loading devices, main line hauler, casting devices and slide type pot. Fish finder system to identify fishing ground information and the conger eel pot hauling devices were modernized, and supply rate was also increased. Therefore, the relative fishing power index in the offshore conger eel pot fishery increased from 1.0 in 1980 to 1.3 in 1990, to 1.8 in 2000 and to 2.0 in 2015. The results are expected to contribute to reasonable fisheries stock management of the offshore conger eel pot fishery.

We conducted a questionnaire survey to analyze the current status of the coastal composite fisheries, as well as the improvement point in designing a new type coastal composite fishing boat suitable for Korean fishing environments from April to August 2017. The questionnaire composed of 20 questions about the features of the coastal composite fishing boat and fishing work. The survey sites were selected to cover all parts of the country by considering the geographical position. The significance testing for the response results was accessed by ${\chi}^2$ test and ANOVA. The results revealed that more than half (59.1%) of the fishermen operated one day per voyage and operating alone topped with 22.5% in the number of crews, followed by 2 persons (20.3%) and 5 persons (22.1%). The navigation devices had a high rate of installation and GPS plotter ranked first in the devices. In addition, fish finder ranked first in fishing equipment, followed by net hauler. The most inconvenient work that they felt during the fishing operation was fish handing at 49.8% and other general fishing works like setting and hauling line, deck cleaning accounted for about 25%. The hardest work was the accident by ropes wrapped around propeller and the engine trouble came in second. The most inconvenient facilities to the present design of fishing boat was wheelhouse (76.7%), followed by fish hold (38.5%), and deck (35.1%). Furthermore, inconvenient points related to the movement of fishing gear, noise and vibration of engine, slippery deck and small fish hold exceeded 50%.

The purpose of this study was to analyze traffic safety assessments for fishing vessels near the southwest offshore wind farm. This study applied a collision model for safety assessment. It also involved a spatiotemporal analysis of vessels engaged in fishing to identify fishing hotspots around the offshore wind farm. This study used data from fishing vessel location transmission devices gathered over 1 year in 2014. As a result, in September, when the average number of vessels engaged in fishing is high, 62 ships were operating in fishing section 184-6 and 55 ships in section 184-6. In addition, in fishing sections 184-8 and 192-2, where an offshore wind farm was located, there were 55 and 38 ships operating, respectively. As the recovery period for a seaway near wind farm turbines is 55 years, it was determined that safety measures are required in order to reduce collision frequency while allowing fishing vessels to navigate through offshore wind farms. Meanwhile, the return period of Seaway B between the groups of generators considered was 184 years. A safety zone for offshore wind farms should be installed covering a distance of at least 0.3 NM from the boundary of turbines. Then, the collision return period was derived to be close to 100 years. Through this traffic safety assessment, it has been concluded that such measures would help prevent marine accidents.
The fishing industry in Europe has faced environmental, economic, and social challenges. Since the early 2000s, a key tool in addressing these challenges has been information and communication technology (ICT), which has helped to modernize fishery systems in European Union (EU) countries. The ICT used in EU fisheries can be categorized broadly as 1) macro-technologies such as satellite and other remote sensing technologies in combination with geographical information systems, 2) micro-technologies adapted for fishing vessels such as echo sounders, ship navigation devices, and mobile communication devices to connect fishermen and consumers, and 3) onshore micro-technologies related to internet technology and mobile devices. The European Monitoring Center on Change has used ICT to effectively manage fisheries bio-resources. This use of ICT has contributed to the development of sustainable and competent fisheries in the 2000s, even though the knowledge-sharing practices involved are contrary to the long tradition of autonomy within the fishery industry.
While the life in the fishing villages in old days was characterized by accepting the sea as destiny by birth, it became an industrial one nowadays with industry - scale fisheries as the mainstream. It is expected, however, that nature - friendly life will be prevailing in the fishing villages in the future In these days, the status of fishing village is on a very terrible situation due to the decrease in population, low income, environment destruction, and so on. However, the fishing village should be revitalized because of its public benefits at least. Recently, a kind of affirmative appearance in fishing village is that people who are willing to visit fishing village are increasing. The fishermen are supposed to use this opportunity for its economic and social interests. This paper suggests a kind of way, enjoyable fishery after catching and farming fishery, to use it. Enjoyable fishery consists of watching (learning by observation) fishery and doing (experience) fishery. The example of watching fishery is inspecting the fixed net fishery, doing fishery is experience of small dragnet fishery. The activation devices of the enjoyable fishery are suggested as follows; 1) fixing the identification of regional tourism 2) the development of regional enjoyable 3) opening of one day's fisherman school. 4) networking with fishing village amenity improvement 5) driving sisterhood system with urban area.

The renewable energy sources can be thought of one of the major measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the industries. However, the utilization technology for those sources is approaching in the different matters. One of them, thermoelectric generation might be applicable to fishing industry. A various of internal combustion engines are used in a wide range of fisheries. After the ignition process, the heat passed out from the exhaust outlet. Recycling the heat could be not only an energy source but also reduction of green gas emission. Therefore, this study was designed to verify the feasibility of generation from wasted exhaust gas and analyze the performance. The designed experiment devices were connected with a data logger and an electric loader to quantify the currency and voltage. The devices were installed in a coastal fishing vessel for a gillnet fishery. During the whole fishing trips, the amount of generation was measured by engine rpm and the fishing operation procedures including vessel operations. At the maximum 1,500 rpm in the practical range, the generation amount was 113.6 W. The amount difference in relation to connection method was within 5 W: serial connection was 111.4 W and parallel connection was 115.8 W.

The fisheries resources control system in the Fisheries Act of Korea is introducing technical management method and input control method that controls fishing effort. Fishing effort control system of Korea aiming at realizing the maximum sustainable yield does not regulating the limitation of fishing quota and the limitation of fisheries object target fish. Therefore fishing operators who have fishing permit can use fishery resources without any restriction of fishing quota. But there are no rules that can controlling capacity of productivity of fishing by developing of fishing technic and fishing gear. For those reasons, productivity of fishing is superior to reproductivity of fisheries resources. Therefore, the Fisheries Act of Korea rearranges a legal basis for an introduction of fisheries resources management system by TAC, but the contents to be possible for a legal guarantee is not included and it is exceedingly defective as abstract and institutional devices. And that the affairs to be required for an enforcement of the said regime was placed in an administrative mandatory legislation and the danger to be degenerated is high in accordance with the bureaucratic self-righteous and/or the coercion of group's interest concerned and accordingly its substitute legislation system is keenly required. TAC system that is going to be introduced in our country is expected to enforce the Olympic fishing method and the individual quota method in parallel. This method is not certainly proper, because it occurs to overcapitalize and to compete fishing amounts between fishery operators. So as to prevent overcapitalization and fishing competition between fishery operators, and the exhaustion of coastal fisheries resources, individual transferable quota system should be introduced in Korean sea. Accordingly this thesis has attempted to constitute a view to improving problems of the traditional fisheries resources control system and introducing TAC fisheries resources control system.
In order to study the catching efficiency of shrimp trawl equipped with electrodes around the net mouth and stimulant devices attached to the ground rope, an experimental operation was carried out at Oma-Island Shrimp Farm from October 3rd to November 5th, 1970. Many studies have been made on the shrimp trawl with electric stimulant devices, but few can be found for detailed scientific catching methods. Electric power consumption was so excessive that electric stimulant devices could not be developed for commercial purposes. As a first step toward the successive operations of the electric stimulant devices in the field, it is necessary to study fundamental principles, such as electric current, voltage, electric potential, potential difference, electric field and suitable pulse. The behaviour response of the common shrimp, Penaeus japonicus BATE to moving nets and electric stimulant devices were reported in the preceding papers based on the water tank experiments (Ko and Kim, 1970). Through comparative fishing tests the rate of catching efficiency during daylight time was confirmed to be from 89 to 96 per cent of the night catch efficiency, and with 30 V. 1.5 A. electric power was sufficent for practical sea operation.

This study analyzed the allocation of the skipper's attention during fishing operation in the wheelhouse of a Korean coastal composite fishing vessel by using video observation. To summarize the results, the ratio of lookout, radar and GPS monitoring, which is essential for prevention of collision at sea, was significantly lower than that of other fishing operation due to the attention concentration on the work place during hauling line. In order to reduce exposure to risk of collisions due to concentration of attention to certain tasks such as line hauling, it is necessary to develop an alert system that can notify the approach of other ships or obstruction throughout the ship using information from radar or the automatic identification system. In addition, the order of attention allocation to devices and facilities obtained in this study is expected to be used as basic data for device or facility layout based on the principle of usage frequency in designing wheelhouse for coastal composite fishing vessels in the future.
