Changes of oxygen consumption of Nile tilapia in relation to different body sizes(average body weight 4 g, 40 g, 120 g and 400 g) and water temperatures ($20^{\circ}C$, $25^{\circ}C$ and $30^{\circ}C$) were investigated by a continuous oxygen monitoring system. Mean oxygen consumption of 4 g, 40 g, 120 g and 400 g Nile tilapia at $20^{\circ}C$ were 318.8, 214.9, 84.1 and 69.4 mg $O_2$/kg fish/hr and that at $25^{\circ}C$ were 435.2, 345.9, 151.5 and 115.9 mg $O_2$/kg fish/hr, and that at $30^{\circ}C$ were 611.1, 538.4, 320.8, and 236.0 mg $O_2$/kg fish/hr, respectively. Oxygen consumption per unit body weight tended to decrease exponentially at all temperatures (P<0.05) as body weigth of the fish increased. Oxygen consumption of this fish at $25^{\circ}C$ was $1.61\pm0.18$ times higher than that at $20^{\circ}C$ and oxygen consumption at $30^{\circ}C$ was $1.53\pm0.27$ times higher than that at $25^{\circ}C$. Oxygen consumption per unit body weight linearly increased with the water temperature increased. Also, oxygen consumption of this fish during day time was higher than that during night time at 12L:12D day light condition. The differences between maximum and minimum daily oxygen consumption of this fish increased with the water temperature increased.

Effect of artificial illumination on feeding by the rockfish Sebastes schlegeli receiving no synthetic feed in the cage of the Tongyong Marine Ranch was investigated by analysing the stomach contents of 20 individuals every month from October 1998 to July 1999. The fish was found to have fed on naturally available zooplanktons, i.e. Calanus sinicu, zoeae, amphipods and copepodites in October, fish larvae in November-December, nematodes in January, amphipods in February and again fish larvae from May to July. Despite increase in the weight of stomach contents from 260 mg/fish during the initial period of study to 2,173 mg/fish, as many as 70% of the fish were found to have empty stomach during March-April. Weight of stomach contents did not increase with increasing age of the fish. Occurrence frequency was 83-90% for C. sinicus during October-November and >50% for fish larvae during March-April and June-July.
In this paper, the designed fish robot is researched and developed for aquarium underwater robot. This paper is a study on how the outside technology merely to find the location of fish robots without specific sensor or internal devices for these fish robot. The model of the fish is designed to detect the position of the optical flow of the Robotic Fish in the Simulink through Matlab. This paper intends to recognize the shape of the tank via a video device such as a camera or camcorder using an image processing technique to identify the location of the robotic fish. Here, we are applied to the image comparing algorithm by using the average color weight algorithm method. In this, position coordinate system is used to find the position coordinates of the fish to identify the position of the Robotic fish. It was verified by the performance test of design robot.
We investigated the effects of feeding rate on the growth performance and blood components of sub-adult olive flounder Paralichthys olivaceus. Optimum feeding rate (initial fish mean weight : $370{\pm}5.72g$) was determined under the low water temperature. Two replicated groups of fish were fed a commercial diet at rates of 0%, 0.3%, 0.4%, 0.5%, and 0.6% body weight (BW) per day, and to satiation (0.75%). Feeding trial was conducted under a flow-through system with 12 1.2-metric ton aquaria receiving filtered seawater at $12-14^{\circ}C$ for 4 weeks. Weight gain (WG) and specific growth rate (SGR) for fish fed at 0.6% BW per day was significantly higher than that of unfed fish (0%) and fish fed at 0.3% and 0.4% BW per day. There were no significant differences in WG and SGR among fish fed at 0.5%, 0.6%, and 0.75%. These parameters were negative and significantly lower in the starved fish than in fish fed the experimental diet at all feeding rates. Survival for unfed fish (0%) was significantly lower than that of fish fed at 0.4%, 0.5%, and 0.6%. Hematocrit and hemoglobin content of fish fed at 0% and 0.75% (satiation) were significantly lower than that of fish fed at 0.4% BW per day. Total protein content in unfed fish was significantly lower than those in other treatments. Broken-line regression analysis of weight gain showed that the optimum feeding rate of olive flounder weighing 370 g was 0.51% BW per day at the low water temperature.
We compared the nutritional requirements of whole larvae of the black seabream Acanthopagrus schlegeli, sweet fish Plecoglossus altivelis, olive flounder Paralichthys olivaeus and rock fish Sebastes schlegeli. The larvae were 20, 30, 14 and 5 DAH (or spawning) of black seabream, sweet fish, olive flounder and rock fish, respectively. Specific ${\alpha}$-amylase activity (mU/mg protein) was highest (8,324.9 mU/mg protein) in rock fish larvae (P<0.05). Specific trypsin-like protease activity was highest (11,330.1 mU/mg protein) in black seabream larvae (P<0.05), which also exhibited the highest activity, 685.5 mU/mg dry weight (P<0.05). The specific activities per mg protein and mg dry weight of black seabream were the highest (187.4 mU/mg protein and 11.3 mU/mg dry weight, respectively) (P<0.05). A/P, P/L and A/L ratios of rock fish were 1.47, 90.3 and 133.1, respectively (P<0.05). We present here basic larval digestive enzymatic nutritional requirement data.
This study determined the optimum feeding frequency for the growth of juvenile cherry salmon (Oncorhynchus masou). Triplicate groups of fish (initial mean weight 19.1 g) were fed extruded pellets at four feeding frequencies for 50 days: once every 2 days, once a day, twice a day, and three times a day. The mean water temperature during the feeding trial was $17.9{\pm}1.59^{\circ}C$. The survival of all groups was 100%. The final fork length of fish fed twice a day was significantly greater than that of the other groups (P<0.05). The weight gain of fish fed two and three times daily was significantly greater than that of fish fed once a day or every 2 days (P<0.05). The daily feed intake increased significantly with feeding frequency (P<0.05), but there was no significant difference in the weight gain of fish fed two or three times a day. The feed efficiency of fish fed once every 2 days was highest (P<0.05), and the feed efficiency of fish fed two or three times a day was significantly higher than that of fish fed once a day (P<0.05). The results of this study indicated that the optimum feeding frequency for the growth of juvenile cherry salmon is twice a day, while the feeding efficiency of fish fed once every 2 days was best.
TS sub(L)=20 LogL-65.4. TS sub(W)=6.7 Log W-53.7. TS sub(L): 체장에 대한 표적강도(dB). TS sub(W): 체중에 대한 표적강도(dB).

We determined the morphologic characteristics (body weight and degree of abdomen inflation) of the red spotted grouper, Epinephelus akaara, mother fish producing healthy eggs. Experimental fish were chosen from fish reared in a sea cage. The fish were divided into four size groups by body weight: 400~600, 600~800, 800~1,000, and 1,000~1,200 g and four stages (I~IV) of the degree of abdomen inflation. After hormone treatment, we observed the amount of ovulation-induced eggs, and rates of buoyancy, fertilization, embryonic survival, and hatching. As a result, mother fish with a body weight of 600 g or more spawned, and the fertilization rate, embryonic survival rate, and hatching rate were high in the 800~1,000 g range, thus showing effective ovulation induction. As a result of dividing the degree of abdomen inflation based on the anal fin of the mother fish into I-IV stages and determining hormone treatment time, the GSI was $0.9{\pm}0.2%$ at stage I, $2.3{\pm}0.2%$ at stage II, $5.6{\pm0.2%$ at stage III, and $7.9{\pm}0.9%$ at stage IV. The flotation rate and hatching rate were highest at stage III, and the fertilization rate and embryonic survival rate were highest at stage IV. Therefore, in terms of egg quality, the amount of eggs collected per mother fish, maturation, and histology were different depending on the degree of abdomen inflation. At stage III, where the abdomen inflation degree of the mother fish was based on the basal part of the dorsal fin relative to the height of the anal fin was 1, the egg quality was highest.

This experiment was conducted to evaluate the long term effects of dehulled soybean meal (DHSM) as fish meal (FM) replacer in the diet for olive flounder, Paralichthys olivaceus, for 42 wk at a commercial fish farm. The four experimental diets were MP (moist pellet based on raw fish), $DHSM_0$ (fish meal based dry pellet), $DHSM_{30}$ (30% fish meal was replaced by DHSM) and COMD (commercial dry pellet). Fish were fed one of the four diets containing 50% crude protein and 16.7 kJ available energy/kg diet for 42 wk. Fish averaging $3.20{\pm}0.04g$ ($mean{\pm}SD$) were initially distributed to each tank as a group of 6,000 fish reared in a flow-through system. At the end of the experiment, average body weight of fish was $315{\pm}9.3g$ ($mean{\pm}SD$) ). Weight gain (WG) and feed efficiency (FE) of fish fed MP, DHSM0 and DHSM30 showed no significant difference among the diet treatments. However, WG and FE of fish fed MP were significantly higher than those of fish fed COMD (p<0.05). Specific growth rate (SGR), protein efficiency ratio (PER) and survival of fish fed all diets were not significantly different among the dietary treatments. Therefore, these results indicate that DHSM could replace up to 30% white fish meal with amino acid supplementation in olive flounder diets for long-term feeding practice at the commercial farm.
