April, 2005 to October, 2013. The collected species during the survey period were 17 species belonging to 6 families. Dominant species was Zacco koreanus(Relative abundance 59.9%) and subdominant species Pungtungia herzi(8.5%). Korea endemic species were 12, including Coreoleuciscus splendidus. The species of Hemibarbus mylodon was identified as natural monument, and Pseudopungtungia tenuicorpa and Gobiobotia brevibarba were endangered species. Water quality assessment of Gapyeong Stream, had lately maintained the rating of "very good" for nine years, based on the Ministry of the Environment standards notice. It was found that there was a tendency for populations which is Coreoperca herzi carnivorous species decreases, increases omnivorous species Zacco platypus. As a result of community analysis, dominant index was 0.58~0.86, diversity index was 0.94~1.77 and richness index was 0.99~2.39. As a result of using the Rarefaction curve, were analyzed occurrence species expected each year, number of species is estimated from a sample of 151 individuals, up to 12(2005) was at least 5(2007) species. The regression coefficient (b) in relation to length-weight on Z. koreanus population were annual average $3.29{\pm}1.11$, condition factor slope $0.0034{\pm}0.0021$, which maintained good growth condition and stabilized population.
An 18-week growth trial was conducted in flow-through aquarium system to evaluate the practical dietary protein sources for juvenile abalone (Haliotis discus hannai). Three replicate groups of the abalone averaging 0.11g were fed one of ten diets containing casein, white fish meal (WFM), meat meal (MM), feather meal (FM), blood meal (BM), soybean meal (SM), corn gluten meal (CGM), cotton seed meal (CSM), Undaria powder (UP), or wheat flour (WF) as a dietary protein source. In addition, these dietary protein sources were cmpared with algae such as raw Undaria or dried Laminaria. Weight gain of abalone fed the diets containing casein, WFM, SM, CSM, or UP was significantly higher (P<0.05) than those of abalone fed other diets, and this value of abalone fed FM, BM, CGM, or algae was lower than other groups. Shell length, shell width, body wt./shell length ratio, and body wt./shell width ratio of abalone fed casein, WFM, SM, CSM, UP, and WF were also highe (P<0.05) than those of other groups. There were no significant difference (P>0.05) in moisture and protein contents of soft body among all diets. The data obtained in this study indicate that each of the casein, WFM, SM, CSM or UP is good dietary protein source for juvenile abalone.
In a series of feeding experiments using the newly established the first laboratory strain of a temperate photosynthetic ciliate, Mesodinium rubrum MR-MAL01, direct evidence was obtained for ingestion of the cultured M. rubrum cells by the bivalves like the Korean scallop, Chlamys farreri and Manila clam. Ruditapes phil-ippinarum. Each experimental Korean scallop and Manila clam removed up to 9,590 and 23,200 cells min-1, respectively. Small particles almost identical to the ruptured cells of MR-MAL01 culture were observed in the gut of the experimental bivalves, although no intact M. rubrum cell was found. In a 28 days rearing experiment, Isoshrysis galbana (KMCC H-2), a microalga, supported better growth of small Manila clam spat (0.46 mm in shell length) than MR-MAL01 strain. For the large Manila clam spat (0.84 mm in shell length), however. MR-MAL01 strain was a better prey item. Mass culture methods for this photosynthetic marine ciliate may be developed for use as live feed in aquaculture of the spat and broodstock of bivalve and small-mouthed fish larvae.
Bacillus polyfermenticus SCD (B. polyfermenticus SCD) has been appropriately used for the therapy of long-term intestinal disorders, because live strains in the form of active endospores can successfully reach the target intestine in humans. B. polyfermenticus SCD produces the most antibiotic-related materials. In the present study, B. polyfermenticus SCD was fermented with soybeans (BPFS) and its probiotic properties were investigated. B. polyfermenticus SCD and BPFS showed a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity against pathogenic Gram-positive (Streptococcus parauberis, Streptococcus iniae, Lactococcus garviae) and Gram-negative (Flexibacter tractuosus, Vibrio harveyi, Vibrio vulnificus, Vibrio ordalii) bacteria and moulds (Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus oryzae). Sebastes schlegeli were used to examine survival rate and cleanup action by BPFS. Bacterial infection resulted in a mortality of up to 99% in the commercial fodder fed groups. BPFS both enhanced the growth rate of fry by improving their appetite and had cleaned by decreased eutrophication. Therefore, it seems appropriate that BPFS should be developed as an antibiotic replacement, favorable fodder additive, and antifungal material in fish farming systems.
This work concerns age studies of the spanish mackerel by vertebrae. The spanish mackerel samples were obtained mainly from Yosoo and Inchon regions during July to December, 1969. A total of 292 fish was collected during the present study. Except the vertebrae, the incremental growth is found to be vague or complicated on the most bony parts in spanish mackerel. The spanish mackerel has 50 vertebrae, and the size of vertebra varies according to its position. After several studies, therefore, sample centrum was selected from the 23rd vertebra throughout the present study. Sample centrum was then stained with Alizarin Red S. and examined under binocular stereoscopic microscope illuminated by reflected light. The surface of the centrum shows many ring-marks running parallel to the edge. The ring-marks were counted and the measurements of centrum radius (R) and radii of the ring-marks (r$\_$i/) were made by eyepiece micrometer. From available data, the average of each ring-mark radius was found to be; r$\_$1/=2.05mm, r$\_$2/=3.11mm, r$\_$3/=4.05mm, r$\_$4/=4.89mm, r$\_$5/=5.70mm and r$\_$6/=6.47mm, respectively. The mean fork length at the time of ring-mark formation was calculated to be; l$\_$1/=297.6mm, l$\_$2/= 390.1mm, l$\_$3/=472.2mm, l$\_$4/=545.5mm, l$\_$5/=616.2mm, and l$\_$6/= 683.4mm, respectively.
Black rockfish larvae and juveniles were reared for 95 days after parturition (DAP) in order to determine four enzyme activities (trypsin, pepsine-like enzyme, lipase, amylase) during ontogeny. Larvae were fed rotifers Brachionus plicatilis from 1 to 25 DAP, Artemia nauplii from 10 to 78 DAP and then gradually changed to pelleted feed from 30 DAP. Temperature was kept between $13.5{\sim}14.9^{\circ}C$. Trypsin and lipase activities were found in 2 DAP larvae ($7.0{\pm}1.5$ unit and $4.5{\pm}1.4$ unit, $mean{\pm}SD$, respectively). The evolution of both enzymes activities showed a profile marked by drastic increases between postflexion and juvenile stage. There is an increment on specific trypsin activity at 10 DAP, corresponding with the beginning of Artemia feeding. Pepsin-like enzyme activity was found at 11 DAP and increased drastically from 56 DAP, cor-responding with the initiation of juvenile stage. Amylase activity was also found at 11 DAP and maintained at a low level up to 38 DAP followed by a drastic increase from 39 DAP to 50 DAP. Considering our results of both trypsin and pepsin-like enzyme activities, it might be concluded that higher somatic growth of Sebastes inermis could be possible with the initiation juvenile of stage and the early juvenile stage is a suit-able period for feeding an artificial diet for fish.

Octachlorostyrene (OCS) is a persistant and bioaccumulative toxic subtance (PBTs). In this study, acute toxicity tests on algae, daphnia and fish for octachlorostyrene and its isomers were done to determine effective concentration ($EC_{50}$), Lethal concentration ($LC_{50}$), no observed effect concentration (NOEC) or lowest observed effect concentration (LOEC). As a result, NOEC on algae growth inhibition test for octacholorostyrene and 2-, 3-chlorostyrene was determined as $0.50\;mg\;L^{-1}$, and NOEC for 4-chlorostyrene was determined as $0.13\;mg\;L^{-1}$. NOEC on daphnia, acute immobilisation test for octachlorostyrene and 2-, 3-chlorostyrene was determined as $5.00\;mg\;L^{-1}$ and $EC_{50}$ for 4-chlorostyrene was determined as $2.128\;mg\;L^{-1}$. NOEC on Oryzias Latipes, acute toxicity test for octachlorostyrene was determined as $80.0\;mg\;L^{-1}$ and NOEC for 2-, 3-chlorostyrene was determined as $60.0\;mg\;L^{-1}$. $LC_{50}$ for 4-chlorostyrene was determined as $39.0\;mg\;L^{-1}$ (48h) and $22.6\;mg\;L^{-1}$ (96h).

Water temperature affects physical and biological processes in ecologies on river system and is important conditions for growth rate and spawning of fish species. The objective of this study is to compare models for water temperature during the summer season for the Fourchue River (St-Alexandre-de-Kamouraska, Quebec, Canada). For this, three different models, which are CEQUEAU, Auto-regressive Moving Average with eXogenous input and Nonlinear Autoregressive with eXogenous input, were applied and compared. Also, future water temperature in the Fourchue river were simulated and analyzed its result based on the CMIP5 climate models, RCP 2.6, 4.5, 8.5 climate change scenarios. As the result of the study, the water temperature in the Fourchue river are actually changed and median water temperature will increase $0.2{\sim}0.7^{\circ}C$ in June and could decrease by $0.2{\sim}1.1^{\circ}C$ in September. Also, the UILT ($24.9^{\circ}C$) for brook trout are also likely to occurred for several days.
The objective of this study was to establish a quantitative count method of Vibrio vulnificus cells. Plate count method is often used to count the number of V. vulnificus cells using thiosulfate citrate bile salts sucrose (TCBS) agar plate. However, this method is unsuitable for counting V. vulnificus cells due to growth inhibition and cell injuries in TCBS medium. In this study, we suggested a most probable number-polymerase chain reaction (MPN-PCR) method using alkaline peptone water medium for the quantification of V. vulnificus. This MPN-PCR method showed 2 log higher cell number than TCBS agar plate method. Similar results were also found in the control using, Luria-Bertani agar containing 2% NaCl. Thus, this MPN-PCR method can be used a sensitive method for quantitative count of viable V. vulnificus cells in fish and shellfish samples.

This study investigated the seasonal and inter-annual changes in vertical distribution and size spectrum of walleye pollock, Gadus chalcogrammus inhabiting middle eastern coast of Korea (hear after pollock). Pollock was distributed between 50 m and 600 m depth range, and body size (total length) ranged from 16.6 cm to 81.5 cm. The trends of population body size were increased in autumn and winter and decreased in spring and summer. Vertical distribution of pollock showned depth-dependent patterns with distributing smaller individuals mainly in the upper layer (shallower depth), while larger fish in deeper habitats. Those patterns in vertical distribution of pollock population is probably due to be the results of energy-saving strategy, metabolic effects, and changes in prey selections according to pollock growth, derived from spatial and temporal changes in oceanic condition in habitat grounds. When water temperature in upper layer were increased and that of below thermocline depth became decreased in 2017, the ratio of smaller (<35 cm) and larger (≥35 cm) individuals was biased toward larger fishes, extending their distribution into shallow depth, and consequently main fishing ground was formed in far from coastal area. In addition, the ratio of smaller individual distributing between 100~300 m was increased with decreasing temperature gradient between below thermocline and bottom layer. Changes in spatial and temporal distributions of pollock population likely be related with vertical and horizontal changes in oceanic conditions and, consequently food supplies.
