A Study on Characteristics and Prevention of Arson (방화 범죄의 특성과 예방에 관한 연구)

  • A purpose of this study is to enhance the concern and cognition of people and to search for the effective approach on the control of crime arson which is increasing recently. To accomplish this purpose, it is important to organize three other factors, such as enforcement and strengthening of residents self defense system about fire, establishment of more complicated arson control system of the public agency, and strengthening the correction activity of arson psychologically. It is necessary to construct the cooperation system between community police and fire police and to enforce the friendship between residents and public agency.

The Experimental Study on the Leakage of Automatic Pressure Differential·Overpressure Control Dampers by Increasing the Number of Damper Operation (자동차압·과압조절형댐퍼의 개폐동작횟수 증가에 따른 누설량 실험 연구)

  • Recently, Since buildings are bigger and higher, the damage of human life can be increased by fire flame and smoke in fire. Smoke control system is necessary to decrease this damage. Therefore, Air supply pressurization smoke control system is applied to vestibule of escape stairway. NFSC requires pressure differential of above 40 Pa, but pressure differential is excessively overpressure in the field. It is known that the cause of this over pressure differential is much leakage of damper. Over pressure differential can bad effect to escaper by pressurizing the door. Analyze the real leakage of damper by increasing the number of dampers operation for identifying this problems. The result of testing, the leakage has difference between new dampers and increased the number of operation dampers. As the static preassure increase, the leakage difference increase. Comparison with preceding study, this result has similar linear tendency.

  • A fire in a subway station platform, completely isolated by screen doors, was numerically simulated to investigate problems in smoke control and find their countermeasures. A part of the platform, $40m{\times}5m$ floor and 3 m high, and a fire of 1 MW were considered, and the smoke extraction system was assumed to start operation at the onset of the fire. For three different values of the exhaust air flow rate, 0.1, 2, and $4m^3/min-m^2$, the distributions of temperature, concentrations of soot and carbon monoxide, and those of visibility were compared. The time-variations of the number of randomly distributed particles in the space were also investigated for the air flow rates to see the efficiency in smoke control. It was shown that smoke control takes time by lack of air supply. It was also confirmed that air supply from the railway to the platform at emergency is needed so that smoke is able to be controlled efficiently, and that opening the doors at the both ends of the platform is desirable until the fire is completely extinguished.

Over pressure differential can bad effect to escaper by pressurizing the door. Analyze the real leakage of damper by testing for identifying this problems. The result of testing, leakage is $0.090m^3/s{\sim}0.154m^3/s$. It is necessary to limit the leakage of dampers for safe of escapers.

Large Eddy Simulation of Fire and Smoke Control in a Compartment with Large Openings (큰 개구부가 있는 공간의 화재와 제연의 대와류모사)

  • A 50 kW polyurethane fire in a compartment of 4 m ${\times}$ 1 m ${\times}$ 1.5m with large openings similar to a subway station was simulated by a large eddy simulation to investigate the fire and smoke control. The NIST FDS, which employed a mixture fraction combustion model and a finite volume method for radiation, was utilized. Distribution of temperature and smoke particles was compared with in the lower and upper corridors for three different smoke control systems, ventilation, purge, and extraction, starting in 5 sec from the ignition of the fire. For the given geometries, the ventilation system showed the best smoke removal rate and lowest temperature distribution in the both corridors. It was confirmed that the purge system is not recommended for a subway station since the smoke removal rate of the purge system was worse than that without a smoke control system.

Properties of the Variation of Fe and Mn in the Vicinity of Soil Affected by Forest Fire for the Development of Technics that Reduces Forest Fire-induced 2nd Damage from Gangwon Provinces, Korea (2차산불피해저감기술개발을 위한 강원도 산불지토양 중 Fe-Mn원소의 분포특성)

  • This study was carried out to prove the factor properties of the soil affected by a forest fire through the physical and chemical analysis and the data from the conclusion of those analysis are applied to the development of technics that reduces a forest fire-induced 2nd damage. The forest fire was in December 2000 at Gangreung city and Donghae city, Gangwon provinces, Korea. Soil samples were collected at upper layers (0-5 cm) and bottom layers (5-40 cm) in November 2001 from the burned and control sites. Values of pH in burned soils of the upper layers affected by forest fire are higher than those in control soils. Both the fragments of fire-burned plant and differences of geological properties are resulted in a class of soil. Contents of organic matters in burned soils are higher than those in control soils, exceptionally the contents of organic matters in burned soils that contain coaly shale are lower than those in control soils. Weathering indices in burned soils are higher than those in control soils and it concerned with loss of soil. Iron ions Fe(Fe$^{2+}$ or Fe$^{3+}$) are easily extracted from the burned soils by rainfall, but Mn ions are straightly exist in the burned soils by physiochemical adsorption of colloid. Through the sequential extraction in the burned soils and control soils, we are certificate the extraction of Fe ions and the disturbance of Mn ions from the burned soils. As a consequence of factor analysis in burned soil and control soil, we are certificate that the influence of forest fire results in a disturbance of positive correlation factors.

  • The Missile Flight Test Launch Control System is to operate in conjunction with the Fire Control System during flight test to guided weapons. Also, this is a system for the test control and situation monitoring depending on the type of guided weapons and testing purposes. Message structure, communication protocols, such as data types for interworking with the fire control system and the Missile Flight Test Launch Control System are defined in the Launch Control ICD(Interface Control Document). ICD are composed differently of each guided weapons system and each test object. Previously, in order to interwork with the Fire Control System, the interlocking software was developed, which had a variety of problems. Therefore, we developed a new parsing algorithm in order to recognize the variety of Launch Control ICD and verified that the algorithm operates normally by checking transmitting and receiving various message in conjunction with the fire control system.

  • This study is experimentally analyzed to extract the major parameters affecting the performance of the smoke-control system and the relations of pressure difference between vestibule and supply air pressure zone effect of supply mass flow rate and leakage area in the smoke-control zone. To obtain this, the mock-up building of three-story scale with a total of 10 compartments was constructed, and several apparatus were also installed for in-situ measurement of the ventilation flow rate, pressure difference between compartments, smoke defensive air velocity, the opening-closing force of door, etc. This article show that pressure difference in the smoke-control zone is significantly related with leakage area of vestibule in low pressure region, leakage area of supply air pressure in over pressure region and both of them in pressure control region when the pressure control range of damper is 45 Pa~55 Pa.

  • Based on the problems of untimely Expressway fire rescue and backward traditional fire rescue methods, an emergency fire fighting and inspection robot riding on expressway guardrail is designed. The overall mechanical structure design of emergency fire fighting and inspection robot riding on expressway guardrail is completed by using three-dimensional design software. The target fire detection is realized by using the target detection algorithm of Yolov5; By selecting a variety of sensors and using the control method of multi algorithm fusion, the basic function of robot on duty early warning is realized, and it has the ability of intelligent fire extinguishing. The BMS battery charging and discharging system is used to detect the real-time power of the robot. The design of the expressway emergency fire fighting and inspection robot provides a new technical means for the development of emergency fire fighting equipment, and improves the reliability and efficiency of expressway emergency fire fighting.

  • Since hot toxic gas included in the fire is the most principal reason of the death and has the fluid mechanical characteristics unlike air, smoke control method appropriate for the figure and structure of a fire room is needed and each unit of the smoke control system requests high performance according to this characteristics, for which performance test procedures and evaluation criteria must be established. Domestic criteria involved with the smoke control consist of the pre-investigation by documents and the part inspection, which has lots of problems because they are far from the performance based evaluation method compared with the references of developed countries. Consequently, domestic and international references were compared and analyzed, problems being emerged and standardization scheme of the test procedure was presented.
