Time-Domain Response of Transmission-Line Structures Excited by an External Electromagnetic Pulse (외부 전자파 펄스에 의해 여기된 전송선로 구조의 시간 영역 응답)

  • The time-domain response of a two-conductor-structure transmission line excited by an incident electromagnetic pulse is numerically analyzed using the Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) method. The external electromagnetic pulse is generated by ultilizing a TEM cell. The simulated time-domain response is compared with the time-domain response which is obtained by the Inverse Fast Fourier Transform(IFFT) of the frequency domain measurement data.

  • The Finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method is used to directly solve Maxwell's equations, and the techniques required for optical simulation of Bragg reflections of cholesteric liquid crystal (ChLC) displays are introduced in this paper. The simulated results show that the color gamut of a ChLC display can be broadened by using of a circular polarizer on top surface of the ChLC film, and are examined by experiments.

Extremely Low Numerical Dispersion FDTD Method Based on H(2, 4) Scheme for Lossy Material

  • This paper expands a previously proposed optimized higher order (2, 4) finite-difference time-domain scheme (H(2, 4) scheme) for use with lossy material. A low dispersion error is obtained by introducing a weighting factor and two scaling factors. The weighting factor creates isotropic dispersion, and the two scaling factors dramatically reduce the numerical dispersion error at an operating frequency. In addition, the results confirm that the proposed scheme performs better than the H(2, 4) scheme for wideband analysis. Lastly, the validity of the proposed scheme is verified by calculating a scattering problem of a lossy circular dielectric cylinder.

  • FDTD(Finite-Difference Time-Domain) 방법을 이용하여 마이크로웨이브 오븐 내부 전자파를 해석하였고, 열전달방정식을 이용하여 부하의 열 분포를 해석하였다. 다양한 형태의 오프닝구조를 갖는 캐비티에 관하여 수치계산을 수행하였고, 서로 다른 종류의 부하가 존재할 때 부하의 온도 분포가 어떻게 변화하는지 알아보았다. 또한 마그네트론의 안테나와 캡이 존재하는 실제 웨이브가이드를 모델링하여 수치 계산한 후, 적외선사진에 의한 부하의 온도분포와 비교하였다.

  • The analysis of photonic band gaps and anomalous dispersion phenomena in photonic crystals requires understanding of band structures and dispersion surfaces. We show the results of the calculation of band structures and dispersion surfaces for a few two- dimensional lattices, using the finite-difference time-domain method with periodic boundary conditions. In addition, localized defect modes the exist within the band gap are computed by the same method.

  • A three-dimensional finite difference time domain (3-D FDTD) algorithm of calculation for the characteristics of coaxial-to-cavity filter including a discended probe and a tuning post is presented. In the arrangement the inner coaxial conductor protrudes into the cavity and operates as a probe radiator. And the height of the rectangular tuning post determines the resonant frequency. The validation of this method is confirmed by comparing the calculated values with experimental results for the designed filter.

  • In this paper, a new algorithm for two-dimensional (2-D) finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method is presented. By this new method, the maximum time step size can be increased over the Courant-Friedrich-Levy (CFL) condition restraint. This new algorithm is adapted from an Alternating-Direction Implicit FDTD (ADI-FDTD) method. However, unlike the ADI-FDTD algorithm. the alternation is performed with respect to the blocks of fields rather than with respect to each respective coordinate direction. Moreover. this method can be efficiently simulated with parallel computation. and it is more efficient than the conventional FDTD method in terms of CPU time. Numerical formulations are shown and simulation results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of our proposed method.

  • 본 논문에서는 확장된 시간영역 유한차분법(Extended finite difference time domain method)을 이용하여 마이크로파 중폭기를 해석하였다. 회로에 포함되어 있는 능동 소자는 고주파 등가 회로를 이용하여 모델링 하였다. 고주파 등가 회로를 통하여 계산한 게어트와 드레인의 전류를 FDTD의 전계 계산식에 첨가향으로개 마이크로스트립 회로의 전자기파와 능동 소자와의 상호 작용을 특성 지었다. 해석 결과는 주파수 영역 회로 해석법(Frequency-domain circuit analysis)을 이용한 결과와의 비교를 통하여 정확성을 입증했다.

  • In this paper, resonant frequency, electromagnetic field distribution, and resonant mode of a microstrip substrate-mounted dielectric resonator are investigated. A dielectric resonator is excited by the microstrip line. The data are obtained using the finite difference time-domain (FDTD) and compared with the experimental results and theoretical solutions the previous published paper.

  • Among many optical modulators, we are interested in traveling-wave(TW) multiple quantum well(MQW) electro-absorption modulator which can be used for wide-band applications, covering DC to 30GHz or higher frequencies. In this study, we simulate a 1.3mm InGaAs/lnGaAsP TW MQW EAM using the 3D Finite Difference-Time Domain (FDTD) method. We identify that several geometric factors affect Microwave charateristics. Our calculated data provide useful information to optimize and fabricate ridge-type TW CPW EAM.
