Efficient arithmetic design is essential to implement error correcting codes and cryptographic applications over finite fields. This article presents an efficient $AB^2$ multiplier in GF($2^m$) using a polynomial representation. The proposed multiplier produces the result in m clock cycles with a propagation delay of two AND gates and two XOR gates using O($2^m$) area-time complexity. The proposed multiplier is highly modular, and consists of regular blocks of AND and XOR logic gates. Especially, exponentiation, inversion, and division are more efficiently implemented by applying $AB^2$ multiplication repeatedly rather than AB multiplication. As compared to related works, the proposed multiplier has lower area-time complexity, computational delay, and execution time and is well suited to VLSI implementation.

In this paper, a new multiplication algorithm which describes the methods of constructing a multiplierover GF(p$^{m}$ ) was presented. For the multiplication of two elements in the finite field, the multiplication formula was derived. Multiplier structures which can be constructed by this formula were considered as well. For example, both GF(3) multiplication module and GF(3) addition module were realized by current-mode CMOS technology. By using these operation modules the basic cell used in GF(3$^{m}$ ) multiplier was realized and verified by SPICE simulation tool. Proposed multipliers consisted of regular interconnection of simple cells use regular cellular arrays. So they are simply expansible for the multiplication of two elements in the finite field increasing the degree m.
Finite field arithmetic logic is central in the implementation of Reed-Solomon coders and in some cryptographic algorithms. There is a need for good multiplication and basis conversion algorithms. In this paper, a new multiplication circuit is developed for the finite field GF($2^m$) based on a conventional basis. It is composed of AND gates and EXCLUSIVE-OR gates and is regular, simple, expandable and therefore, naturally suitable for VLSI implementations.

Utilizing dual basis, normal basis, and subfield representation, three different finite field multipliers are presented in this paper. First, we propose an extended dual basis multiplier based on Berlekamp's bit-serial multiplication algorithm. Second, a detailed explanation and design of the Massey-Omura multiplier based on a normal basis representation is described. Third, the multiplication algorithm over GF(($2^{n}$) utilizing subfield is proposed. Especially, three different multipliers are designed over the finite field GF(($2^{4}$) and the complexity of each multiplier is compared with that of others. As a result of comparison, we recognize that the extendd dual basis multiplier requires the smallest number of gates, whereas the subfield multiplier, due to its regularity, simplicity, and modularlity, is easier to implement than the others with respect to higher($m{\ge}8$) order and m/2 subfield order.

Efficient finite field arithmetic is essential for fast implementation of error correcting codes and cryptographic applications. Among the arithmetic operations over finite fields, the multiplication is one of the basic arithmetic operations. Therefore an efficient design of a finite field multiplier is required. In this paper, two new bit-parallel systolic multipliers for $GF(2^m)$ fields defined by AOP(all-one polynomial) have proposed. The proposed multipliers have a little bit greater space complexity but save at least 22% area complexity and 13% area-time (AT) complexity as compared to the existing multipliers using AOP. As compared to related works, we have shown that our multipliers have lower area-time complexity, cell delay, and latency. So, we expect that our multipliers are well suited to VLSI implementation.
An optimized finite-field multiplier is proposed for encryption and error correction devices. It is based on a modified Linear Feedback Shift Register (LFSR) which has lower power consumption and smaller area than prior LFSR-based finite-field multipliers. The proposed finite field multiplier for GF(2n) multiplies two n-bit polynomials using polynomial basis to produce $z(x)=a(x)^*b(x)$ mod p(x), where p(x) is a irreducible polynomial for the Galois Field. The LFSR based on a serial multiplication structure has less complex circuits than array structures and hybrid structures. It is efficient to use the LFSR structure for systems with limited area and power consumption. The prior finite-field multipliers need 3${\cdot}$m flip-flops for multiplication of m-bit polynomials. Consequently, they need 6${\cdot}$m latches because one flip-flop consists of two latches. The proposed finite-field multiplier requires only 4${\cdot}$m latches for m-bit multiplication, which results in 1/3 smaller area than the prior finite-field multipliers. As a result, it can be used effectively in encryption and error correction devices with low-power consumption and small area.

In this paper, we present a new bit-parallel multiplier for performing the bit-parallel multiplication of two polynomials in the finite fields $GF(2^m)$. Prior to construct the multiplier circuits, we consist of the vector code generator(VCG) to generate the result of bit-parallel multiplication with one coefficient of a multiplicative polynomial after performing the parallel multiplication of a multiplicand polynomial with a irreducible polynomial. The basic cells of VCG have two AND gates and two XOR gates. Using these VCG, we can obtain the multiplication results performing the bit-parallel multiplication of two polynomials. Extending this process, we show the design of the generalized circuits for degree m and a simple example of constructing the multiplier circuit over finite fields $GF(2^4)$. Also, the presented multiplier is simulated by PSpice. The multiplier presented in this paper use the VCGs with the basic cells repeatedly, and is easy to extend the multiplication of two polynomials in the finite fields with very large degree m, and is suitable to VLSI.

The performance of Elliptic Curves Cryptosystem(ECC) is dominated by the modular multiplication since the elliptic curve scalar multiplication consists of the modular multiplication in projective coordinates. In this paper, we propose a new method that combines the Karatsuba-Ofman multiplication method and a new modular reduction algorithm in order to improve the performance of the modular multiplication for NIST p224 in the FIPS 186-4 standard. The proposed method leads to a running time improvement for computing the modular multiplication about 25% faster than the previous methods. The results also show that the method can reduce the arithmetic complexity by half when compared with traditional implementations on the standpoint of the modular reduction.

Finite field multiplication and division are important arithmetic operation in error-correcting codes and cryptosystems. The elements of the finite field GF($2^m$) are represented by bases with a primitive polynomial of degree m over GF(2). We can be easily realized for multiplication or computing multiplicative inverse in GF($2^m$) based on a normal basis representation. The number of product terms of logic function determines a complexity of the Messay-Omura multiplier. A normal basis exists for every finite field. It is not easy to find the optimal normal element for a given primitive polynomial. In this paper, the generating method of normal basis is investigated. The normal bases whose product terms are less than other bases for multiplication in GF($2^m$) are found. For each primitive polynomial, a list of normal elements and number of product terms are presented.

This paper propose the method of constructing the highly efficiency adder and multiplier systems over finite fields. The addition arithmetic operation over finite field is simple comparatively because that addition arithmetic operation is analyzed by each digit modP summation independently. But in case of multiplication arithmetic operation, we generate maximum k=2m-2 degree of ${\alpha}^k$ terms, therefore we decrease k into m-1 degree using irreducible primitive polynomial. We propose two method of control signal generation for the purpose of performing above decrease process. One method is the combinational logic expression and the other method is universal signal generation. The proposed method of constructing the highly adder/multiplier systems is as following. First of all, we obtain algorithms for addition and multiplication arithmetic operation based on the mathematical properties over finite fields, next we construct basic cell of A-cell and M-cell using T-gate and modP cyclic gate. Finally we construct adder module and multiplier module over finite fields after synthesizing ${\alpha}^k$ generation module and control signal CSt generation module with A-cell and M-cell. Next, we constructing the arithmetic operation unit over finite fields. Then, we propose the future research and prospects.
