Development of polishing tool system for robot (로보트용 금형 연마 공구 시스템의 개발)

  • Die finishing (polishing and lapping) after NC machining is characterized as one bottleneck process for reducing lead time. For automation of this typical manual work, a flexible polishing tool system using industrial robot has been developed. This tool system has three principal functions in order to achieve reduction of waviness, 3 D.O.F. compliance and constant pressure structure. This polishing tool shows that adaptability to free form surface is increased and programmability to various areas of die surface is also acquired.

  • In the CNC machining process, problems such as lowering of machine operation rate, setting errors, and machining precision occur due to the increase in setting time and preparation time. These machining errors cause delays in delivery and increase in cost due to an increase in the number of mounting and dismounting of the workpiece, an increase in measurement and reprocessing time, and an increase in the finishing time in the assembly process. Therefore, in this study, by automating the setting of the work piece using OMV (On Machine Verification), which is a meteorological measurement system, the preparation time for machining the work piece and the setting accuracy were improved, the rework rate was reduced, and the mold manufacturing process was shortened. Through the advancement, standardzation, and automation of the mold part manufacturing process, we have improved productivity by minimizing low-value-added repetitive tasks. In addition, the measurement time was reduced by more than 50% and the machining measurement rate was improved by more than 20%, eliminating repetitive work for correcting machining defects, and reducing the work preparation time by more than 15% through automatic setting.

  • The purpose of this study is to survey and analyze the conditions and automation of sewing machines and thereby, address the problems and their solutions to help local sewn products enhance their international competitiveness. The results of study can be summarized as follows : 1. It was found that most of the sample companies were getting smaller scale or pettier in terms of capital, number of employees or scale of factory. The interest in facility investment was relatively higher, which suggests high interest of our sewing companies in facility investment. 2. Most of the sample companies were well equipped with the essential and several auxiliary sewing machines, but poorly equipped with the special or automated sewing machines. 3. The ratio of idle machines was highest in sewing work, compared with cutting or finishing work, primarily due to decreased orders, aging machines or reduced manpower.

  • The finishing method of concrete floor using automatic surface finisher is one of new technologies in concrete floor construction. The development of high technologies in construction will increase in order to satisfy the demand to construct high quality building. Using this method, it is possible to increase the quality of building as well as to reduce the labor work in site. In this paper, a system which can be used to finish the concrete floor using automatic surface finisher, is presented and its structural capacities are evaluated. The system is composed of rail which guides the surface vibrator and absorbs the volume change of concrete, and a device supporting the rail. From the experimental work for these devices, it was shown that the support and rail had suitable strength to resist the automatic surface finisher. For design purpose, also, effective span of supports was tabulated.

  • After an important construction work in Chosun dynasty, the appropriate government made out the building specification as it called 營建儀軌. They are recorded about variety matters as the appointed days, various official documents, managers and craftsmen, etc.. Sometimes we can see the attached pictures about some building or furniture. specifications in Chosun dynasty about the unit of materials and history of each terms. The results are as followings: (1) The interior materials are classified to several units such as Gai(箇;the unit of square lumber or log), Rip(立;the unit of plates), Boo(部;the unit of assembled materials), etc.. (2) The terms are defined and enlightened how to use and how to change. Particularly, the terms are different positively in constituent units of wooden floor. So, it is expected to continuant study.

  • Bucket trajectory is crucial regarding precision work with an excavator. In general, the bucket trajectory deviation is determined by the machining deviation of the frame, driving deviation of the driving hydraulic cylinder, clearance in the joints, and deformation of the structure. This paper investigated the relationship between the respective clearance in joints and the trajectory deviation of the bucket at the finishing work of the ditching for a 20-ton excavator. As a result, the larger the clearance, the larger deviation is increased at trajectory. However, it was found that the deviation of the rotation angle and displacement of the bucket was limited and the size of clearance does not affect closely on the contact angle of the pin shaft.

  • Recently, the construction companies show lots of interest in reducing the construction duration of apartment housing project in Korea. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the success factors of scheduling using the TACT technique in wall type apartment house construction for managing the construction schedule effectively. For appling the tact scheduling technique to wall type apartment house construction, the success factors can be summarized as follows : (1) zoning the horizontal and vortical work area properly, (2) preparing the flow chart of finishing works, (3) minimizing the undefined activity like chipping off the concrete wall, (4) reordering the construction activities for keeping up the continuity of works in winter season, (5) dividing the amount of work for minimizing the delay time of any activity, etc.

  • Commercially available magnetic barrel machines equipped with permanent magnets have certain limitations: work can only be finished effectively in limited areas of the container because permanent magnets are arranged two-dimensionally on the magnet disk. We overcame this problem by developing a new magnetic barrel machine equipped with a three-dimensional magnet arrangement. The effectiveness of the new machine has already been reported; this study improved the machine's polishing ability by changing the polarity of magnets on a magnet block. Polishing experiments confirmed the most effective arrangement of magnets on the magnet block. An alternating arrangement of north and south poles produced far superior polishing characteristics than a uniform arrangement of the same pole facing outward. Alternating polarity probably causes increased quantities of barrel media to work together. Finally, we introduced stronger permanent magnets to the magnet block, and found that the increased magnetic field also improved polishing ability.

  • The results of study can be summarized as follows: 1. Few sewing companies committed their workers to a professional and systematic training course. 2. Brands as Brother, Juki, Yamato, Singer and Nara were being much used. Among them the Brother was most popular. The age of the sewing machines was between one and six years. Most companies were repairing their machines. The manual main sewing machines were more frequently out of order than other machines. The ratio of idle machines was highest in sewing work, compared with cutting or finishing work, primarily due to decreased orders, aging machines or reduced manpower. 3. Most of the sewing companies were feeling necessary for automated sewing machines.

Estimation of Setting Time of Concrete Using Rubber Hardness Meter (고무경도계를 이용한 콘크리트의 응결시간 추정 가능성 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the possibility of estimating optimum surface finishing work time of the fresh concrete placed at the job site by applying a surface hardness test meter(Durometer). Tests are carried out by measuring and comparing the Proctor penetration resistance test and hardness test by Durometer. Correlations between Procter penetration test and hardness test by Durometer were obtained. Two different types Durometer were applied to estimate setting time. Test results indicate that the measurement of the Durometer and the test of the Proctor penetration resistance are highly correlated. When measuring the initial setting time with Durometer, initial setting time is reached when the hardness value by the type C Durometer is reached around 42HD, and when final setting is measured with the type D Durometer, the surface finishing work time limit and curing time can be estimated with 10HD of Durometer.
