It seems required to determine what might affect the technological innovation activities of manufacturing companies and what kind of role they could play for them to carry out technological innovation activities in an effective way. The objective of the present study is thus to conduct a depth empirical analysis of the structural relations among business environment, technological innovation activities and performance of manufacturing companies. From the analysis, following outcomes could be drawn: First, with regard to the relationship between business environment and technological innovation activities of manufacturing companies, it has become clear that the external environment is a factor that can influence technological innovation activities such as management of technical property, technological innovation system as well as technical network, while it exercises no impact upon adaptation of manufacturers to new technologies. The internal environment, on the other hand, turns out to have influence on such overall factors of technological innovation activities as management of technical property, technological innovation system, adaptation to new technologies and technical network; and Second, as for the relationship between technological innovation activities and their performance, it has been obvious that management of technical property and technological innovation system, both factors of technological innovation activities, affect the performance of product development and financial achievements of manufacturing companies. Their adaptation to new technologies will also affect their performance of product development as well as financial achievements. These findings suggest that it is important for manufacturing companies to set up an operating system that may be able to upgrade the practical applicability of their technological development activities in an attempt to promote performance of their technological innovation activities.

This study tries to analyze the possibility of application of project financing to electricity industry and analyze the management of risks happening in the process of foreign project procurement and construction. Those are based on the trends and analysis of project financing in foreign projects. Risks are 'classified as risks before completion of projects and risks after completion. Project financing is key element of exportation and financial strategies and activation of project financing may provide the acceleration of the efficient financial market.

This study analyzes various factors affecting a firm's investments, focusing on both a firm's ownership structure and CEO's incentives. While previous empirical works focus on various financial data in order to test the Schumpeterian Hypotheses, this paper is using various ownership structure data as well as financial data. Empirical results show that the greater a firm's CEO has the company's own stock, the less he spends in R&D investments. The main empirical results of this study is in line with past empirical studies on various markets outside of Korea.

중소기업 활성화를 위한 정부 R&D지원이 다양하게 이루어지고 있으나 이와 관련한 기존 대부분의 연구는 정부 R&D지원 중 재무적인 부분에 초점이 맞추어져 있었다. 그러나 최근 들어 정부의 재정적 한계로 인해 정부의 비재무적인 R&D지원책에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 중소기업을 대상으로 정부 R&D지원을 재무적, 비재무적 전략으로 유형화하고, 유형별 기술혁신 성과를 분석하였다. 동시에 R&D의 성과가 기업의 특성별로 다양할 수 있는 만큼 성과변수를 기술개발 가능성, 기술혁신성, 기술독창성으로 구분하여 지원방식과 성과의 특성 간 관계성에 대해 접근하고자 하였다. 분석 결과, 정부 R&D지원은 중소기업의 기술적 성과에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 하지만 재무적 지원의 강도는 기술독창성에는 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타나 정부 R&D지원의 규모효과에는 한계가 예상된다.

Purpose: This empirical study is focused on the relationship between innovation capability (R&D and Human Resource innovation) and performance in knowledge-based service firms. Methods: We build research model to test how each of innovation capability on technology and human resource is influenced on their financial and non-financial performance in the knowledge-based service industries. Based on the previous research, we hypothesized the factors are regarded innovation capabilities of the firms as the scale of R&D and human resources. Because this study is especially targeted to the performance of knowledge-based service firms. With the survey on 424 main knowledge-based service firms, the multi-regression analysis was performed. Results: The result showed that the scale of R&D and human resources capabilities are main factors for knowledge-based service firms' performance, which reflects the current industrial structure. Conclusion: This study empirically demonstrated that human resources are most important to the growth of knowledge-based service firms.

The study is devoted to substantiation of directions of intensification of development of small innovative enterprise, which has a significant impact on the overall innovation activity of the country and promotes innovative development, transition to more advanced technological systems. The outlined role of small business in innovative development in the direction of intensifying innovation in the economy, improving organization and production, as well as in the form of direct participation in the innovation process, production of science-intensive products, stimulating demand for innovation. A group of factors hindering the development of small innovative entrepreneurship was identified, including: financial aspects of the activity, shortcomings of organizational and communicative nature, underdeveloped technology market, information plan problems, internal production problems of small business, market problems. The directions of intensification of the development of small innovative entrepreneurship are substantiated, namely: financial and credit support of small innovative entrepreneurship; introduction of tax incentives; material and technical support; nationwide intensification of innovation activity; information support; development of innovation infrastructure. The involvement of the outlined directions of intensification of small innovative entrepreneurship will help to obtain a synergistic effect of innovative development of both small innovative business structures and the economy as a whole.

본 연구에서는 중소벤처기업의 기술혁신을 유발하는 선행요인이 무엇인지, 그리고 기술혁신이 기업의 재무성과에 어떤 영향을 미치는지를 살펴보고자 한다. 따라서 기업의 외부환경 (국내·해외 시장 점유율, 정부의 규제 및 지원, 경쟁의 격화정도)과 기업의 내부 경영자원으로서 유형자원(R&D 투자규모, 기업크기, 기업의 연령), 무형자원 (기업의 능력, 의사결정의 중앙집중화 정도), 및 인적자원 (R&D 관련 인력의 질적 수준)과 기술혁신의 관계를 검토하였으며, 또한 기술혁신과 기업의 재무성과 관계를 분석하였다. 실증분석 결과, 해외시장 점유율, R&D 투자규모, 기업의 규모, 기업능력, 중앙집중화 등의 요인이 중소기업의 기술혁신 (특허권, 지적재산권)에 유의적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 또한 기술혁신은 기업의 매출액 및 총자산과 유의적 관계가 있다는 분석결과가 제시되었다. 결론적으로, 본 연구는 기업이 기술혁신을 효과적으로 추진하고 그 성과를 실현하기 위한 전략적 선택을 모색하는데 어느 정도 도움을 줄 것으로 기대된다.

As reflected in the title, the main objective of the paper is to explore an appropriate approach to promote technological innovation for developing countries. Aiming to this goal, the paper studies three main innovation system approaches, whose implantation is being attempted in developing countries: first, national innovation systems (NIS), which was developed in OECD countries; second, the system of innovation for development (SID), which is a concept that tries to adapt NIS to developing countries; and third, inclusive innovation which is a pro-poor innovation system. Based on the strengths and the weaknesses of each concept and their potential adaptation in developing countries, the paper proposes an integrated approach of innovation system for developing countries. Compared to developed countries, the concept of innovation system in developing countries should be more complex because it involves not only the formal sector such as enterprises, universities, research institutes, government, and financial system but it also involves NGOs, informal companies, grassroots inventors, local and indigenous knowledge, etc. The last part of the paper discusses the ideas that innovation stakeholders in developing countries can use to promote their proper innovation system.
