  • Recently, deep reinforcement learning has been applied to a variety of industries, such as games, robotics, autonomous vehicles, and data cooling systems. An algorithm called reinforcement learning allows for automated asset allocation without the requirement for ongoing monitoring. It is free to choose its own policies. The purpose of this paper is to carry out an empirical analysis of the performance of asset allocation strategies. Among the strategies considered were the conventional Mean- Variance Optimization (MVO) and the Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO). According to the findings, the PPO outperformed both its benchmark index and the MVO. This paper demonstrates how dynamic asset allocation can benefit from the development of a reinforcement learning algorithm.

  • Metaheuristics' impact is profound across many fields, yet domestic financial portfolio optimization research falls short, particularly in asset allocation. This study delves into metaheuristics for portfolio optimization, examining theoretical and practical benefits. Findings indicate portfolios optimized via metaheuristics outperform the Dow Jones Index in Sharpe ratios, underscoring their potential to enhance risk-adjusted returns significantly. Tabu search, in comparison to Simulated Annealing, demonstrates superior performance by efficiently navigating the search space. Despite these advancements, practical application remains challenging due to the complexities in metaheuristic implementation. The study advocates for broader algorithmic exploration, including population-based metaheuristics, to refine asset allocation strategies further. This research marks a step towards optimizing portfolios from an extensive array of financial assets, aiming for maximum efficacy in investment outcomes.

  • The number of industrial accident victims in the construction industry accounts for 1/3 of those in the entire industries and about 30% of the total compensation costs are spent in the construction industry. As such, the construction industry is a typical industry causing numerous safety accidents. This study analyzes the status of industrial accidents in small scale construction sites to build maximum five-story buildings by examining statistical data for the past five years, investigating those construction sites and conducting interviews with the workers. This study also seeks the causes of and measures for industrial accidents in the small scale construction industry through comparison with relevant systems. The findings are as follows: (1) To reduce hazard rate, shaping the working environment and safety measures that take into account the physically weak classes of the middle aged and the aging are urgently required, because 62.9% of the industrial accidents in the construction industry occurred to those who are 50 years of age or older. (2) The hazard rate at small scale construction sites with less than 10 construction workers accounts for 55% of that of the entire industries. The government, in this context, needs to support finance or technology and improve system by selecting the small scale construction sites, where industrial accidents occur frequently. (3) Because the hazard rate of unskilled workers with less than 6 months of work experience accounts for 90.95% of the total, safety education needs to be concentrated on those unskilled workers. (4) The relevant standards need to be segmented and revised and bolstered, given that 64.79% of death disaster in the construction industry occurs in the temporary structures including scaffolds and ladders.

  • In the trend of digital transformation and the increase in non-face-to-face services triggered by the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the demand for cloud computing services is being sharply stimulated. Currently, the cloud is being introduced in various industrial sectors including public, IT, and finance, and the manufacturing industry is also adopting the cloud to secure future sustainability and is promoting innovation through smart manufacturing. However, it has been found that there are constraints in the adoption of cloud by manufacturing companies due to concerns about security. Existing studies that have identified cloud security risks have been limited to presenting general cloud security risks or technical security risks rather than focusing on the manufacturing industry. Therefore, this study aimed to identify cloud security risks in the manufacturing industry based on the actual concerns in the field. For this, expert interviews and literature research were conducted to newly identify cloud security risks in the manufacturing industry, and the adequacy and urgency of the selected security risks were verified through surveys. Based on this study, if a cloud security management system for the manufacturing industry is designed in the future, it is expected that the adoption of cloud in the manufacturing industry will be more activated.

  • This study aims to suggest methods for improving innovation capability in Daegu-Gyeongbuk's mobile industry. Before offering suggestions, it analyzes the characteristics of technological innovation based on the mobile industry's value chain in Daegu-Gyeongbuk in relation to R&D workforce, R&D expenditures, and R&D networks. Support for R&D workforce in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk's mobile industry is concentrated in the mobile device and contents sectors. In addition, it is difficult for companies to finance R&D expenditures because most are SMEs, except for some large enterprises in the mobile device sector. R&D networks are structured mainly inside of companies, and linkages among universities, research institutes, and supporting institutes are weak in all sectors. To strengthen the innovation capability in Daegu-Gyeongbuk's mobile industry, therefore, human resource projects should be dispersed, and financial support should also be spread across value chain sectors rather than concentrated. Aside from this, a place for industry, academia, institutes, and government to build and enhance innovative networks should be created in all sectors.
