Inscribed Approximation based Adaptive Tessellation of Catmull-Clark Subdivision Surfaces

  • Catmull-Clark subdivision scheme provides a powerful method for building smooth and complex surfaces. But the number of faces in the uniformly refined meshes increases exponentially with respect to subdivision depth. Adaptive tessellation reduces the number of faces needed to yield a smooth approximation to the limit surface and, consequently, makes the rendering process more efficient. In this paper, we present a new adaptive tessellation method for general Catmull-Clark subdivision surfaces. Different from previous control mesh refinement based approaches, which generate approximate meshes that usually do not interpolate the limit surface, the new method is based on direct evaluation of the limit surface to generate an inscribed polyhedron of the limit surface. With explicit evaluation of general Catmull-Clark subdivision surfaces becoming available, the new adaptive tessellation method can precisely measure error for every point of the limit surface. Hence, it has complete control of the accuracy of the tessellation result. Cracks are avoided by using a recursive color marking process to ensure that adjacent patches or subpatches use the same limit surface points in the construction of the shared boundary. The new method performs limit surface evaluation only at points that are needed for the final rendering process. Therefore it is very fast and memory efficient. The new method is presented for the general Catmull-Clark subdivision scheme. But it can be used for any subdivision scheme that has an explicit evaluation method for its limit surface.

Development of an Evaluation Tool for Middle School Student Sex Education (중학생 성교육 평가도구 개발)

  • Purpose: To develop a tool to evaluate middle school sex education programs. Method: An evaluation tool was developed in 4 stages: first, preliminary items were developed based on the sex education guidebook for teachers published by the Korean Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development; second, a panel of specialists reduced the number of preliminary items by 3 validity tests on the contents; third, final items were selected from the results of pre-test. Finally, reliability and validity were tested by a sample of 601 middle school students of both genders attending all three grades. Result: The developed evaluation tool contained 31 items on the sexual knowledge and 22 items on the sexual attitude. The results of reliability tests were as follows: Cronbachs alpha for sexual knowledge was .84; and for sexual attitude was .88. Conclusion: This study suggested the developed evaluation tool for sex education programs for middle school students had a high degree of reliability and validity. Therefore, it can be utilized to effectively evaluate Korean middle school sex education programs.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the evaluation model of school facilities in terms of seismic performance during safety education in the school field. This study is composed of four stages with a view to developing user oriented evaluation models that can be utilized during earthquake safety education on ceiling system. and First stage analyze the evaluation guidelines to find evaluation methods and items. Based on the items, site survey was conducted to derive the characteristics of seismic performance of domestic school buildings in terms of ceiling system. Third stage analyzes the seismic performance of ceiling system. Final stage is to derive recommendations based on the results.

  • The purpose of this study was to consumer's evaluation toward salesperson attributes, satisfaction of salesperson and apparel store on relationship continuity. To this end, a total of 500 questionnaires were distributed to men and women university students and 443 samples were used for the final analysis. Data were analyzed by using frequency, percentage, factor analysis, cluster analysis, One-way ANOVA, crosstabs, Pearson's correlation analysis, regression analysis. The results of this study were as follows; Looking at the effects of evaluation toward salesperson attributes, satisfaction of salesperson on relationship continuity, they showed satisfaction of salesperson had direct influence on relationship continuity extremely when men and women university students are purchasing their clothing. Uniformity, customer orientation, expertise, kindness were as follows. Looking at the effects of evaluation toward salesperson attributes, satisfaction of apparel store on relationship continuity, it showed uniformity has direct influence on maintaining relations extremely when men and women university students are purchasing their clothing. Customer orientation, satisfaction of apparel store, expertise, kindness were as follows. Through this study, it will be applied into program development data for consumer management and education, and salesperson's efficient consumer response as well.

Credit Risk Evaluations of Online Retail Enterprises Using Support Vector Machines Ensemble: An Empirical Study from China

  • The e-commerce market faces significant credit risks due to the complexity of the industry and information asymmetries. Therefore, credit risk has started to stymie the growth of e-commerce. However, there is no reliable system for evaluating the creditworthiness of e-commerce companies. Therefore, this paper constructs a credit risk evaluation index system that comprehensively considers the online and offline behavior of online retail enterprises, including 15 indicators that reflect online credit risk and 15 indicators that reflect offline credit risk. This paper establishes an integration method based on a fuzzy integral support vector machine, which takes the factor analysis results of the credit risk evaluation index system of online retail enterprises as the input and the credit risk evaluation results of online retail enterprises as the output. The classification results of each sub-classifier and the importance of each sub-classifier decision to the final decision have been taken into account in this method. Select the sample data of 1500 online retail loan customers from a bank to test the model. The empirical results demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms a single SVM and traditional SVMs aggregation technique via majority voting in terms of classification accuracy, which provides a basis for banks to establish a reliable evaluation system.

Effects of Pre-learning Attitude on Academic Achievement in the Flipped Learning Methodology (A Case of Applied Thermodynamics) (플립러닝 교수법에서 사전학습태도가 학업성취도에 미치는 영향 (응용열역학 교과목 적용 사례))

  • In this study, the effects of pre-learning attitude on learning participation and academic achievement was analyzed when applying the flipped learning methodology to engineering subject education. The modified PARTN teaching and learning model was applied, and pre-class survey, assessment on learning in pre-class, and post-class survey were conducted to analyze the effectiveness of flipped learning. The results were analyzed for 24 students who took the applied thermodynamics lecture. They were asked to take the course with the videos provided in the pre-class stage, and a pre-learning assessment was conducted to measure the completeness and understanding of the learning. As a result of the study, it was found that students with relatively excellent learning ability had excellent pre-learning evaluation results and excellent final academic achievement. In addition, the lower the pre-learning completion rate within the pre-learning period or the higher the learning rate using mobile devices, the more difficult it was to faithfully complete pre-learning, leading to poor pre-learning evaluation results. Meanwhile, the survey revealed that conducting pre-learning assessments were helpful in encouraging individual learning. In addition, cases reflecting pre-learning evaluation results to course grades showed higher pre-learning evaluation results than cases not reflecting pre-learning evaluation results to course grades, and in flipped learning classes, pre-learning evaluations act as a factor that promotes pre-class learning.

A Study on the Development of Information Inequality Measurement Indicator Optimized for the Library (도서관에 적용가능한 정보불평등 측정지표 개발 연구)

  • The 3rd Library Comprehensive Development Plan (2019-2023) of the Committee on Library and Information Policy under IFLA-UN 2030 Agenda emphasize the role of libraries in practicing social inclusion. At home and abroad, this is shedding new light on libraries as the public service institutions aimed at resolving information inequality. This study thus developed the information inequality measurement indicator optimized for libraries. For this purpose, FGI and Delphi technique were implemented as the verification stage of the expert group. As a result, the final indicators were derived in three evaluation areas, twelve evaluation items, and 30 evaluation indicators. Specifically, first, 3 evaluation items and 8 evaluation indicators were derived in the access evaluation area; second, 5 evaluation items and 12 evaluation indicators were derived in the competency evaluation area; and third, 4 evaluation items and 10 evaluation indicators were derived in the utilization evaluation area. This study is considered to be of great significance in that the information inequality measurement indicators optimized for libraries were developed, the first of its kind.

A Study on the Improvement of Evaluation Items for Customized BF Certification in School Facilities -Focusing on the Delphi survey- (학교시설 맞춤형 BF인증을 위한 평가항목 개선방향에 관한 연구 -델파이조사를 중심으로-)

  • This paper reports on three Delphi surveys based on draft evaluation items with the aim of deriving evaluation items prior to developing a BF certification index for school facilities in order to make the index safe and convenient. To this end, problems were formulated using content analysis and follow-up evaluation of existing BF certification indicators. Draft BF certification evaluation items for school facilities were proposed. The adequacy of each evaluation item was verified using a Delphi survey. Experts and working-level groups, such as university professors, architects, public officials, certification agencies, and organizations for disabled persons, provided feedback for all evaluation items for school facility BF, which was incorporated in the final evaluation items. As a result of the Delphi surveys, in addition to the existing 8 evaluation items, a total of 75 evaluation items were proposed as maintenance items, 12 as improvement review items, and 15 as new evaluation items.

Effects of cooking method and final core-temperature on cooking loss, lipid oxidation, nucleotide-related compounds and aroma volatiles of Hanwoo brisket

  • Objective: This study observed the effects of cooking method and final core temperature on cooking loss, lipid oxidation, aroma volatiles, nucleotide-related compounds and aroma volatiles of Hanwoo brisket (deep pectoralis). Methods: Deep pectoralis muscles (8.65% of crude fat) were obtained from three Hanwoo steer carcasses with 1+ quality grade. Samples were either oven-roasted at 180C (dry heat) or cooked in boiling water (moist heat) to final core temperature of 70C (medium) or 77C (well-done). Results: Boiling method reduced more fat but retained more moisture than did the oven roasting method (p<0.001), thus no significant differences were found on cooking loss. However, samples lost more weight as final core temperature increased (p<0.01). Further, total saturated fatty acid increased (p = 0.02) while total monounsaturated fatty acid decreased (p = 0.03) as final core temperature increased. Regardless the method used for cooking, malondialdehyde (p<0.01) and free iron contents (p<0.001) were observed higher in samples cooked to 77C. Oven roasting retained more inosinic acid, inosine and hypoxanthine in samples than did the boiling method (p<0.001), of which the concentration decreased as final core temperature increased except for hypoxanthine. Samples cooked to 77C using oven roasting method released more intense aroma than did the others and the aroma pattern was discriminated based on the intensity. Most of aldehydes and pyrazines were more abundant in oven-roasted samples than in boiled samples. Among identified volatiles, hexanal had the highest area unit in both boiled and oven-roasted samples, of which the abundance increased as the final core temperature increased. Conclusion: The boiling method extracted inosinic acid and rendered fat from beef brisket, whereas oven roasting intensified aroma derived from aldehydes and pyrazines and prevented the extreme loss of inosinic acid.

Treatment of Intra-articular Calcaneal Fracture with Open Reduction and Internal Fixation (관혈적 정복 및 내고정을 이용한 관절내 종골 골절의 치료)

  • Purpose: To evaluate the clinical outcomes and radiographic results of open reduction and internal fixation for intraarticular calcaneal fractures. Materials and Methods: We reviewed 20 cases of calcaneal fractures managed with open reduction and internal fixation from March 2003 to January 2005. We used the computed tomographic classification system proposed by Sanders et al to classify these fractures. Preoperative and postoperative Bohler's angle, heel height (calcaneal facet height) and calcaneal length, calcaneal width were measured. The Creighton-Nebraska Health Foundation Assessment score was used for clinical evaluation. Results: There were 12 cases of type II fractures, 5 of type III fractures and 3 of type IV fractures. The mean clinical score was 84.3 for type II, 82.6 for type III and 56.1 for type IV. The mean preoperative B¨ohler angle was 6.1 and final was 22.8. The mean preoperative calcaneal facet height was 76.6 mm and final was 80.3 mm (The mean calcaneal facet height was changed from preop 76.6 mm to postop 80.3 mm). The mean preoperative calcaneal length was 88.2 mm and final was 92.6 mm. The mean preoperative width was 38.1 mm and final was 35.6 mm. Conclusion: Open reduction and internal fixation showed good results for type II and III fractures, but for type IV fractures the clinical result was significantly worse than the other types. However, type IV fractures still had restoration of (should be restored in) B¨ohlers angle, calcaneal facet height, calcaneal length and width which may be helpful in later subtalar fusion.
