  • The subject of investigation was 13,828 people who took periodical medical examiner in some health examination centers two times in 2009 and 2011 so as to analyze changes of borderline group, disease group for 4 diseases(hypertension, diabetes, liver disease, hyperlipemia) and health behavior of some medical examiner. For the contents of investigation, drinking and smoking habit was investigated as a general characteristic of subjects. For the items of health examination, there were SBP, DBP, AST, ALT, GGT, Glucose, Total Cholesterol and Triglyceride. The main results are as follows. In comparison with the starting year of research, drinking and smoking rate of the final year was reduced respectively by 1.6% and 1.4%. And, borderline group by examination items, hypertension was reduced by 2.2% from 62.0% to 59.8% in the final year in comparison with the starting year of investigation, And, fasting blood glucose was 17.1%, hyperlipemia was 6.6%, LFT was 2.0% for the reduction. In disease group, hypertension was reduced by 0.6% from 6.7% to 6.1%. And, fast blood glucose was 1.9%, hyperlipemia was 4.2%, LFT was 1.3% for reduction. Borderline group showed more reduction in comparison with disease group in all of items. The above results showed borderline group showed more reduction of manifestation rate than disease group in all of 4 diseases. Therefore, it's expected that disease group will show reduction in the future. But, it's necessary to study on future's changes through the continuous management and tracing observation.

  • In this study, the casting/forging process was applied in manufacturing a low control arm, in order to prove that application of casting/forging process to Al6061 is likely to get the effect of light weight compared with existing steel products and to reduce the cost of materials. Firstly, In order to set up the optimum casting condition of the forging material, Al6061, casting experiments were carried out by controlling pouring temperature of the aluminum for casting, mold temperature, and pouring time. $700^{\circ}C$ pouring temperature, $300^{\circ}C$ mold temperature and 10-second pouring time were taken into account as the optimum casting conditions. With respect to a hot forging test, it is practiced on the basis of a temperature of materials, strain rate, and reduction rate so as to observe each microstructure and examine strain-stress curve simultaneously; examine tensile test and hardness test; eventually set up the optimum hot forging condition. A hot forging test, tensile test, hardness experiment, and microstructure observation were carried out on condition of $70\%$ reduction rate, $500^{\circ}C$ temperature of materials, and 1 strain rate. As a result of those experiments, 330MPa tensile strength, $16.4\%$ elongation, and 122.8Hv hardness were recorded. In oder to get a sound preform which has no unfitting cavity and less flash, two preforms were proposed on the basis of volume rate of the final product; the optimum volume rate of preform for the low control arm was $115\%$. In conclusion, it is confirmed that using the forging material rather than casting materials in casting/forging process is likely to get more superior mechanical properties. Compared with Al6061, performed by means of general forging, moreover, cast/forged Al6061 can not only stimulate productivity by reducing production processes, but cut down the cost of materials by reusing forging scraps.

  • This study was performed to assets the operating characteristics of food waste composting and co-composting (food waste + sewage sludge) at a compelling facility. The facility was being operated successfully without being affected by kind of composting feed materials. Partial anaerobic condition was detected during food waste composting and co-com-posting, but these two composting systems were proven to be operated successfully under aerobic condition from the monitoring results of $O_2$, volatile solids reduction rate, temperature, and other parameters. The conductivity and chloride concentrations of compost were gradually increased during two composting periods, but the conductivity and chloride concentrations of co-compelling indicated lower values than those of food waste composting at final point(40 m). As a result, co-composting was turned out to be more desirable than food waste composting, considering salt problem. High correlations ($R^2$= 0.9265 for food waste composting and $R^2$= 0.9685 for co-composting) between CEC and volatile organic matter were found. Quality of composts produced from two composting process satisfied Korean heavy metal standard.

  • This paper focuses on the fundamental issues for improving the efficiency and throughput of the AC PDP (Plasma Display Panel) manufacturing. The properties of the MgO protective layer affect the PDP efficiency. Especially, the secondary electron emission efficiency was affected on the deposition rate of MgO during the evaporation. In this study, the deposition rate of 5 $\AA$/s has given the maximum efficiency value of 0.05 It is demonstrated that the impurity gases such as $H_2O$, $CO_2$, CO or $N_2$, and $O_2$ can be remained inside the PDP panel before sealing and the amount of the impurity gases decreased rapidly as the base vacuum level increased, especially near $10^{-5}$ torr. The fundamental solution in order to overcome these problems is the vacuum in-line sealing process from the MgO evaporation to the final sealing of the panel without breaking the vacuum. We have demonstrated this fundamental process technology and shown the feasibility. The firing voltage was reduced down to 285 V at the base vacuum value of $10^{-6}$ torr, whreras it was about 328 V at the base vacuum value of $10^{-3}$ torr.

  • The reaction rate, equilibrium, and flow injection analysis methods were fundamentally evaluated for the determination of aqueous ammonia. The selected indophenol blue method was based on the formation of indophenol blue in which ammonium ion reacted with hypochlorite and phenol in alkaline solution. In the optimized reaction condition, the reaction followed 1st order reaction kinetics and the final product was stable. The absorbance measurements before and after the equilibrium were utilized for the reaction rate and equilibrium methods. The reaction rate methods, based on the relative analytical signals for the possibility of eliminating interferents, were shown to have good linear calibration curves but the detection limit and the calibration sensitivity were poorer than those in the equilibrium method. The detection limits were 32-49 pub and 24 pub for the reaction rate and equilibrium methods, respectively In the flow injection analysis, the absorbance was measured before the equilibrium reached and thus resulted in 30% reduction of calibration sensitivity. However, the detection limit was 11 ppb, indicating that the peak-to-peak noise for the blank was remarkably improved. Compared to the manual methods, the optimized experimental condition in a closed reaction system reduced the blank absorbance and the inclusion of ammonia from the atmosphere was prevented. In addition, highly reproducible mixing of sample and reagents and analytical data extracted from continuous recording showed excellent reproducibility.

  • Pyrophyllite granule powders for thermal spray coating were successfully prepared through spray drying process. To produce a stable slurry, commercial pyrophyllite powder of $45{\mu}m$ in size was ball-milled for reduction of the size to $2{\sim}3{\mu}m$ and a dispersant was added to control the viscosity. Dense and spherical granules (average granule size : $59{\mu}m$) were prepared under conditions of 12,500 rpm for rotation velocity of the atomizer and 100 cps for slurry viscosity. The granules were then heat treated at $1,200^{\circ}C$ for proper handling strength and flow properties. The final granules had an apparent density of $0.725g/cm^3$ and a flow rate of 2.5 g/sec, which represent excellent properties to be used as the granule powder for thermal spray coatings.

  • This was a preliminary research for the goal of understanding between internal structure of Osteogenesis Imperfecta Murine (OIM) bone and its fragility. 54 hyperspectral bone data sets were captured by using JASCO 2000 Raman spectrometer at UMKC-CRISP (University of Missouri-Kansas City Center for Research on Interfacial Structure and Properties). Each data set consists of 1,091 data points from 9 OIM bones. The original captured hyperspectral data sets were noisy and base-lined ones. We removed the noise and corrected the base-lined data for the final efficient classification. High dimensional Raman hyperspectral data on OIM bones was reduced by Principal Components Analysis (PCA) and Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) and efficiently classified for the first time. We confirmed OIM bones could be classified such as strong, middle and weak one by using the coefficients of their PCA or LDA. Through experiment, we investigated the efficiency of classification on the reduced OIM bone data by the Bayesian classifier and K -Nearest Neighbor (K-NN) classifier. As the experimental result, the case of LDA reduction showed higher classification performance than that of PCA reduction in the two classifiers. K-NN classifier represented better classification rate, compared with Bayesian classifier. The classification performance of K-NN was about 92.6% in case of LDA.

  • Tensile and LCF(low cycle fatigue) tests were carried out in air at wide temperature range 20$^{\circ}C$-750$^{\circ}C$ and strain rates of 1${\times}$10$\^$-4//s-1${\times}$10$\^$-2/ to ascertain the influence of strain rate on tensile and LCF properties of prior cold worked 316L stainless steel, especially focused on the DSA(dynamic strain aging) regime. Dynamic strain aging induced the change of tensile properties such as strength and ductility in the temperature region 250$^{\circ}C$-600$^{\circ}C$ and this temperature region well coincided with the negative strain rate sensitivity regime. Cyclic stress response at all test conditions was characterized by the initial hardening during a few cycles, followed by gradual softening until final failure. Temperature and strain rate dependence on cyclic softening behavior appears to result from the change of the cyclic plastic deformation mechanism and DSA effect. The DSA regimes between tensile and LCF loading conditions in terms of the negative strain rate sensitivity were well consistent with each other. The drastic reduction in fatigue resistance at elevated temperature was observed, and it was attributed to the effects of oxidation, creep and dynamic strain aging or interactions among them. Especially, in the DSA regime, dynamic strain aging accelerated the reduction of fatigue resistance by enhancing crack initiation and propagation.

  • This study investigated the compressive strength, flexural strength, setting time, and rebound when blast furnace slag and anhydrite, which are widely used mineral admixtures for concrete, are applied to shotcrete. When Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) was replaced at a rate of 10% with blast furnace slag and anhydrite, the initial and final setting time requirements were all satisfied. However, when OPC was replaced at a rate of 20%, final setting was delayed, revealing that this mixture was not suitable for shotcrete. Compressive strength test results showed that the mixture with 10% OPC replacement rate met the target strength at 1 day and 28 days for permanent tunnel support usage. Particularly, the mixture designed with OPC replacement by blast furnace slag and anhydrite at rates of 5% showed the highest compressive strength. Rebound measurements revealed that this mixture exhibited excellent performance with 23% reduction in the rebound compared to the shotcrete that was produced with only OPC binder.
