Singular Value Decomposition of 2-D Finite Impulse Response was used to design a variable cutoff 2-D FIR filters. Basically this approach allows to use 1-D techniques while dealing with 2-D filters. In this paper, our aim is to provide away of easily tuning 2-D FIR filters. For example, one would like to adjust interactively the cutoff frequency of a 2-D Circular Symmetric low-pass filter on an image processing system. The decomposition of 2-D FIR filters along with techniques available for tuning 1-D FIR filters allows such adjustment. Several design examples are shown.

In this paper, we studied on the design of elliptic digital filters using the bilinear z transformation method, and proposed a design procedure satisfying prescribed specifications. The magnitude characteristics of digital filters are compared with its of analog filiters by computer simulation. Finaly we considered the quantization effects of digital filters. In cascader realization of fixed-point digital filters under dynamic range constraints, the outpout noise for IIR digital filters depends on the pole-zero pairing and ordering of the second order sections. Therfore an optmization procedure to finding a good ordering and pairing is very desirable. Thus, we proposed a sub-optimization procedure for finding "near optimal" solution.

In this paper, a design of current-mode continuous-time filters for low voltage and high frequency applictions using complementary bipolar current mirror paris is presented. The proposed current-mode filters consist of simple bipolar current mirrors and capacitors and are quite suitable for monolithic integrtion. Since the design method of the proposed curent-mode filters is based on the integrator type of realization, it can be used for a wide range of applications. And the cutoff frequency of th efilters can be easily changed by the DC cntrolling current. As design examples, the 5th order butterworth filters are designed by cascade and leapfrog methods with tunable cutoff frequencies from 30MHz to 100MHz. The characteristics of the designed current mode filters are simulated and examined by SPICE using standard bipolar transistor parameters.

Median filters in the signal processing have been most widely used and have demonstrated the strongest effects. This paper proposes the adaptive median filters with noise detection. The proposed basic algorithm of the filters is to judge whether or not the noises exist on the ground of The Noise Judgment Standards. Just in case the existence of the noises is verified by the algorithm, it takes the median filter. In order to judge the existence of the noises by the algorithm, this paper introduced the noise detection method by local central variance. As a result of comparing and analyzing the features and performance of the proposed filters and the existing [5]-[10] filters on the same conditions, it was verified that the former proved to be better than the latter, Observed even by naked eyes, it was similar, too. Accordingly, it's proved that the adaptive median filters by local central variance are useful in removing the impulse noise of the median filter and reinforce the edge preservation ability.
Terahertz dual-band frequency selective surface filters made by perforating two different rectangular holes in molybdenum have been designed, fabricated and measured. Physical mechanisms of the dual-band resonant responses are clarified by three differently configured filters and the electric field distribution diagrams. The design process is straightforward and simple according to the physical concept and some formulas. Due to the weak coupling between the two neighboring rectangle holes with different sizes in the unit cell, good dual-band frequency selectivity performance can be easily achieved both in the lower and higher bands by tuning dimensions of the two rectangular holes. Three samples are fabricated, and their dual-band characteristics have been demonstrated by a THz time-domain spectroscopy system. Different from most commonly used metal-dielectric structure or metal-dielectric-metal sandwiched filters, the designed dual-band filters have advantages of easy fabrication and low cost, the encouraging results afforded by these filters could find their applications in dual-band sensors, THz communication systems and other emerging THz technologies.
Design as well as Distortion analysis of signal conditioning filters is very useful for practical applications. Distortion analysis of digital filters for wave forms detection in ECG signals is presented. Several band pass and band reject filters are designed for the analysis. Computer simulations are performed to compare the distortions of the Butterworth type filters and linear phase optimal FIR filters which are widely used for ECG signal processing.
In this paper, we introduce the concept of relative co-fuzzy annihilator filters in distributive lattices. We give a set of equivalent conditions for a co-fuzzy annihilator to be a fuzzy filter and we characterize distributive lattices with the help of co-fuzzy annihilator filters. Furthermore, using the concept of relative co-fuzzy annihilators, we prove that the class of fuzzy filters of distributive lattices forms a Heyting algebra. We also study co-fuzzy annihilator filters. It is proved that the set of all co-fuzzy annihilator filters forms a complete Boolean algebra.
In this paper, by combining the exiting IIR filters with FIR filters in cascade, the design of Hybrid Digital Filters which enables us to match the trade-off relations to different characteristics is presented.

Fungi are the known sources of irritation associated with atopic diseases (e.g., asthma, allergic rhinoconjunctivitis, and atopic eczema). To quantitatively estimate their presence in the indoor environment of atopic dermatitis-inflicted child patient's houses (ADCPHs), the high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters installed inside the air cleaners of three different ADCPHs were investigated for the presence of mold. The air cleaner HEPA filters obtained from the three different ADCPHs were coded as HEPA-A, -B, and -C, respectively, and tested for the presence of mold. The colony forming units (CFUs) corresponding to the HEPA-A, -B, and -C filters were estimated to be $6.51{\times}10^2{\pm}1.50{\times}10^2CFU/cm^2$, $8.72{\times}10^2{\pm}1.69{\times}10^2CFU/cm^2$, and $9.71{\times}10^2{\pm}1.35{\times}10^2CFU/cm^2$, respectively. Aspergillus, Penicillium, Alternaria, Cladosporium, Trichoderma, and other fungal groups were detected in the 2,494 isolates. The distribution of these fungal groups differed among the three filters. Cladosporium was the major fungal group in filters HEPA-A and -C, whereas Penicillium was the major fungal group in the filter HEPA-B. Nine fungal species, including some of the known allergenic species, were identified in these isolates. Cladosporium cladosporioides was the most common mold among all the three filters. This is the first report on the presence of fungi in the air cleaner HEPA filters from ADCPHs in Korea.

This paper introduces analog FIR filters based on a distributed amplifier and analyzes the proposed filter's characteristics. A simple design method of an analog FIR filter based on the digital filter design technique is also introduced. The proposed analog FIR filters are a moving average(MA) and a comb type filters with no multiplier. This simple structures of the proposed filters may enable to operate at multi-GHz frequency range and applicable to combine a filter and an amplifier of RF system. The proposed analog FIR filters were implemented with standard $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS technology. The designed GHz analog FIR filters are simulated by Cadence Spectre and compared to the results of digital FIR filters obtained from MATLAB simulations. From the simulation results, the characteristics of the proposed analog FIR filters are fairly well matched with those of digital FIR filters.
