Random Analysis of Rolling Equation of Motion of Ships Based on Moment Equation Method (모멘트 방정식 방법에 의한 횡요 운동 방정식의 램덤 해석)

  • In this paper an application technique of moment equation method to solution of nonlinear rolling equation of motion of ships is investigated. The exciting moment in the equation of rolling motion of ships is described as non-white noise. This non-white exciting moment is generated through use of a shaping filter. These coupled equations are used to generate moment equations. The nonstationary responses of the nonlinear system are obtained. The results are compared with those of a linear system.

  • In order to understand the flow and filtration characteristics in a wall-flow type DPF(Diesel Particulate Filter), 0-D, 1-D, and 3-D simulations are preformed. In this paper, three model are explained and validated with each other. Based on the comparisons with 1-D and 3-D results for the steady state solution, 3-D CFD analysis is preferable to 1-D for the prediction of wall velocity at the inlet and exit plane. Because PM loading process is transient state phenomena, the combination of full 3-D and time dependent simulation is crucial for the configuration of wall channels.   • Reducing compression artifacts such as ringing and blocking is one of important issues to improve a visual quality of a JPEG compressed image. In this paper, we propose a new post processing technique based on bilateral filtering (BF), which is one of the techniques that are used to reduce compression artifacts. An important issue with the application of the BF is the selection of the filter parameters, which affects the result significantly. In this work, we suggest a new method to select the filter parameter automatically. In addition to artifact reduction using the BF, a contrast enhancement is performed to overcome the contrast loss problem due to compression. The experimental result shows that the proposed approach can alleviate the artifacts efficiently.

  • The identification problem of instrument faults in PWR pressurizer is considered. The instrument failure detection technique in this paper consists of two filters, a normal-mode Kalman filter which estimates plant states in normal operation and a bias estimator which estimates the magnitudes and directions of bias faults. The concept of threshold based on the residual of a Kalman filter in normal operation is introduced. The bias estimator is driven when the absolute value of residual exceeds the threshold. The suggested failure detection algorithm is applied to a PWR pressurizer. Computer simulations show that the prompt detection of bias fault can be performed very successfully when there exist instrument faults.

  • In this paper, the frequency compensator for digital protective relay is introduced. Due to sudden appearance of generation-load or fault in power system, the frequency can deviate from its nominal value. The Orthogonal filter adopted to digital protective relay is exposed to the problem. Therefore, the frequency variation makes a difficult to protective function and power measurement in digital protective relay. The essential property of the proposed algorithm presented is its outstanding immunity to both signal orthogonal component magnitudes and DFT filter gain variations which ensures below 0.05Hz accuracy of estimation. Additionally, the proposed method has excellent characteristics with low signal sampling rate. Based on the frequency estimation, author design under frequency protection relay for generator and verifies its performance with several experimental tests.

  • An efficient adaptive nonlinear compensator, based on a wavelet transform domain adaptive Volterra filter along with a modified escalator algorithm, is proposed to speed up the convergence rate of an adaptive LMS algorithm.   • This paper proposes the system that offer super-wideband speech which is made by artificial bandwidth extension technique using wideband speech signal in time-domain. wideband excitation signal and line spectrum pair(LSP) are extracted based on source-filter model in time-domain. Two parameters are extended by each bandwidth extension algorithms, and then, super-wideband speech parameters are estimated. and synthesized. Subjective test shows super-wideband speech is better speech quality than wideband speech signal.

  • High-precision autonomous localization technique is essential for future Mars rovers. This paper addresses an innovative integrated localization algorithm using a multiple information fusion approach. Firstly, the output of IMU is employed to construct the two-dimensional (2-D) dynamics equation of Mars rover. Secondly, radio beacon measurement and terrain image matching are considered as external measurements and included into the navigation filter to correct the inertial basis and drift. Then, extended Kalman filtering (EKF) algorithm is designed to estimate the position state of Mars rovers and suppress the measurement noise. Finally, the localization algorithm proposed in this paper is validated by computer simulation with different parameter sets.

  • This paper proposes a multimodal information transformation system that converts the image information to the voice information to provide the sight impaired people with walking area and obstacles, which are extracted by an acquired image from a single CCD camera. Using a chain-code line detection algorithm, the walking area is found from the vanishing point and boundary of a sidewalk on the edge image. And obstacles are detected by Gabor filter of extracting vertical lines on the walking area. The proposed system expresses the voice information of pre-defined sentences, consisting of template words which mean walking area and obstacles. The multi-modal information transformation system serves the useful voice information to the sight impaired that intend to reach their destination. The experiments of the proposed algorithm has been implemented on the indoor and outdoor environments, and verified its superiority to exactly provide walking parameters sentences.

  • In 1-D subband coding system, a quadrature mirror filter (QMF) pair can be used to split a signal into two subbands and to reconstruct the original signal. In this paper, a pair of 1-D reconstruction filter for the subband coding system is introduced and a coding technique with classified vector quantization, based on energy distributions, for 16 subband images is presented. As computer simulation results show that the method can give similar perceptual quality with bit rate reduced by $20{\sim}30%$ of that of ordinary vector quantization.
