  • The objective of this study was to evaluate college students’dietary and health behaviors in relation to their Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) personality preferences. Dietary and health behaviors were surveyed for 444 college students who performed the MBTI personality test. Only 6.1% of the subjects regularly had three meals a day, while 27.1% ate breakfast every day. Fifty-six point nine percent of the students took less than 15 minutes to eat a meal and had the habit of eating fast. The number of food groups they ate was, on average, 2.74 and was eaten mainly at dinner. This showed that college students did not eat a large variety of foods. Eighty-two percent of the subjects drank alcoholic beverages, 21.4% smoked, and 69.3% exercised. In addition, 73.9% of them were not satisfied with their body image, but they were not eager to try weight control. There were not many significant differences between Extraversion (E)-Introversion (I), Sensing (S)-iNtuition (N), and Thinking (T)-Feeling (F) in their dietary and heath behaviors, although some gender differences existed. Significantly better dietary and health behaviors were shown in subjects preferring Judging (J) rather than Perceiving (P). There behaviors included eating breakfast, regularly eating three meals a day, smoking less, exercising more and having a lower tendency to night-eating. The personality preference of J-P could be useful index for nutritional education and counseling or behavior modification programs for obese people.

  • This study was conducted to investigate and to improve the actual condition of food service for patients in hospitals. For this purpose, questionnaires were distributed to 283 patients admitted to a university hospital and three general hospitals between January 27 and February 15, 1997. The department participated in the study included internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics, orthopedics and so forth. For meal time, 61.1$\%$ of patients wanted to eat breakfast at 8 am, 55.8$\%$ lunch at noon, and 73.5$\%$ dinner at 6 pm. The patients complained about unsatisfactory hospital food itself by 37.8$\%$, about insufficient food amount by 19.6$\%$, about menu with no choice by 41.2$\%$ and about low variety of the meals by 32.7$\%$. Sixty two point nine percent of the subjects enjoyed snacks between meals because of poor appetite at meal time(46.1$\%$), delayed food service(39.9$\%$) and others(11.2$\%$). The types of diet were mainly regular ones(58.6$\%$) with some high protein(12.4%) and diabetic sensitive ones(7.1$\%$). As eating place, the patient's prefered bed(51.9$\%$), room-table(27.2$\%$) and dining room(17.7$\%$). Fifty-five percent of them also wanted hospital foods available to their caring relatives. • Ball bearings which were fitted between housing and shaft play an important role in rotating shaft system smoothly, Therefore bearing's running accuracy has significant influence on that of rotating machinery. Manufacturing accuracy of bearings as well as that of shaft and housing is main factor to affect bearing running accuracy In this paper, bearing's vibration and fatigue life considering raceway roundness of ball bearing before and after being fitted into housing are theoretically estimated. To perform analysis, a simple three degrees of freedom model was proposed and then these analysis was conducted utilizing the Newton-Raphson iterative method. The results show that vibration magnitude of ball bearing fitted into housing is considerably larger than before assembly, and bearing's theoretical L$_{10}$ fatigue life that ninety percent of the bearing population will endure decreased in about fifty percent.

  • This is a prospective study in which we evaluate the 5-10 year results of BiPolar shoulder arthroplasty in 64 patients (71 shoulders) with primary glenohumeral osteoarthritis. Fifty two patients (56 shoulders) were followed for greater than 60 months (average 79months)1 and no patients were lost to follow Lip. The average age of the patient at operation was 72.5 years. The UCLA score increased from 10.8 preoperatively to 25,7 postoperatively. The final Constant score in this elderly subset of patients averaged $65\%$ (unadjusted). Eighty seven percent of patients were satisfied with their final result. Excellent pain relief was achieved with a VAS of 2.5 (0=no pain, 15=excruciating pain). Active anterior forward flexion improved from $45^{\circ}$ to $104^{\circ}$. Seventy five percent of patients reveal persisting head-shell motion at an average of 7 years. There were two reoperations because of humeral stem loosening; both stems should have been cemented at the initial arthroplasty. It is demonstrated that BiPolar shoulder arthroplasty is durable over time, with clinical results equivalent to that in the literature when compared with hemiarthroplasty and total shoulder replacement.

  • This study has analyzed and revised the geomorphological terms in the Reference Guide for Geography Textbook Compilation issued by the Ministry of Education in 2017. The current geography glossary is composed of 1,150 terms of which 24.4 percent are geomorphological one. They also amount to 52.2 percent of the terms registered in the physical geography glossary. The number of terms in coastal landforms is the maximum of fifty-eight, while the one in weathering landforms is the minimum of six. This suggests a large difference in the number of terms among landform types originating from varying geomorphic processes. A lot of ordinary words are included in the geomorphology glossary. Since they have been already registered in the Korean Standards Dictionary which is another reference guide for textbook compilation, it is appropriate to delete them out of the geomorphological terms. The geomorphology glossary also contains difficult terms written in Chinese characters, inappropriate terms and even incorrect terms which are likely to lead to misconception on landforms. The revised glossary consists of 284 geomorphological terms in which 101 terms are newly added after taking all the problems into consideration.

  • Two-hundred and eighteen patients were taken bronchoscopy to evaluate the value of bronchoscopic diagnosis in the lung cancer patient at the Department of Thoracic Surgery of the Kyung-pook University Hospital. Ninety-eight eases of these patients were studied for possible lung cancer by bronchoscopic examination, biopsy and bronchial cytologv. The results were obtained as follows: Two-hundred and eighteen patients were taken bronchoscopy to evaluate the value of bronchoscopic diagnosis in the lung cancer patient at the Department of Thoracic Surgery of the Kyung-pook University Hospital. Ninety-eight eases of these patients were studied for possible lung cancer by bronchoscopic examination, biopsy and bronchial cytologv. The results were obtained as follows: 1) Forty-five (55.5%) of 81 cases impressed as definitive, and six (35. 3%) of 17 cases impressed as probable lung cancer were subsequently proved to have lung cancer. This represents a total of 51 cases (52. 0%) of 98 patients. 2) Twenty-six (51.0%) of 51 patients were proved by bronchoscopic biopsy and cytology. 3) The positive rates of bronchoscopic biopsy were higher in the lesions on tile intermediate bronchus, carina and main stem bronchi by bronchoscopy, and also in the hilar than in peripheral lesions by X-ray finding and in histologically undifferentiated cell carcinoma than in adenocarcinoma. 4) The positive diagnosis rates of bronchoscopic aspirate were not correlated to the locations of cancer lesions. 5) Thirty- nine percent of 51 case3 were visualized definitive tumor mass and obstructive lesions under bronchoscopy. 6) Patient of lung cancer varied in age from 27 to 77 years, with highest concentration lying in the 5th decade (43.0%). Forty-seven patients were men and 4 were women giving a proportion of men to women, 12: 1 7) Sixty-five percent of proved lung cancer patients were diagnosed as operable cases. Fifty-three percent of explored patients were resected. These results conclude that bronchoscopy is of a considerable value as a diagnostic procedure in these lung cancer patients.

  • Meteorologists define a drought as a period of common dry weather. This may sound straightforward, but it is not so in reality. In this study, we attempted to identify meteorological drought conditions over South Korea. To evaluate the temporal and spatial variability of drought, we calculated two commonly used drought indices, the percent of normal precipitation (PNP) and the Palmer drought severity index (PDSI) calculated from fifty-eight meteorological stations below the Korean Meteorological Administration (KMA). The yearly precipitation has been growing gradually, and the amplitude between maximum and minimum also grow more explicitly from 1960's. According to the analysis of percentile anomaly of monthly precipitation, major drought duration was $1927{\sim}1929,\;1937{\sim}1939,\;1942{\sim}1944,\;1967{\sim}1968,\;1976{\sim}1977,\;1982{\sim}1983,\;1988,\;and\;1994{\sim}1995$. The severe drought occurred most frequently in Mokpo, Daegu, Jeonju, Busan, and Gangneung; it tended to occur more frequently in south sector than in mid sector of Korea and in south west sector than in south east sector. According to the analysis of seasonal distribution, extreme droughts occurred frequently in winter at Seoul, Gangneung, Jeonju, Daegu, and Busan. Severe droughts in summer were formed frequently at Seoul, Gangneung, and Mokpo, while that for spring at Jeonju, Daegu, and Busan. The results of PDSI distribution for the $1994{\sim}1995$ drought period were one of the most severe and widely spreaded droughts; it occurred most frequently in the south sector of South Korea. The comparison of time series between PDSI and Normal Percent showed that they exhibit a strong compatibility for the entire study period; it implies that both drought indices are useful method to indicate drought severity.
