  • Organic transistors are promising in the future development of active devices for flexible, low-cost and large-area photoelectric devices. However, conventional organic field-effect transistors have lowspeed, low-power, and relatively high operational voltage. Vertical type transistors show high-speed and high-current characteristics and are suitable for driver elements of flexible displays.

  • The organic field-effect transistors with step-edge structure were fabricated. Source and drain electrodes were obliquely deposited by vacuum evaporation. The step-edge of the gate electrode serve as a shadow mask, and the short channel is formed at the step-edge. The excellent device performances were obtained.

  • We report solution-processed, high-performance single-crystal organic nanowire transistors fabricated from a novel indolocarbazole (IC) derivative. The direct printing process was utilized to generate single-crystal organic nanowire arrays enabling the simultaneous synthesis, alignment and patterning of nanowires using molecular ink solutions. Using this method, single-crystal organic nanowires can easily be synthesized by self-assembly and crystallization of organic molecules within the nanoscale channels of molds, and these nanowires can then be directly transferred to specific positions on substrates to generate nanowire arrays by a direct printing process. These new molecules are particularly suitable for p-channel organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) because of the high level of crystallinity usually found in IC derivatives. Selected area diffraction (SAED) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) experiments on these solution-processed nanowires showed high crystallinity. Transistors fabricated with these nanowires gave a hole mobility as high as 1.0 cm2V-1s-1 with nanowire arrays with the direct printing process.

  • Differential field effect transistors with double gate metal for integrated humidity sensors have been fabricated and the drain current drift characteristics to relative humidity have been investigated. The aspect ratio was 250/50 for both transistors to get the current difference between the sensing device and non-sensing one. The normalized drain current of the fabricated humidity sensitive field effect transistors increases from 0.12 to 0.3, as relative humidity increases from 30% to 90%.

  • Organic field effect transistors are excellent candidates for addressing and local amplification elements for large area electronics because they can easily be processed at low temperatures on essentially arbitrary substrates. We present the use of these devices in an active matrix photodetector and as a buffer for a strain sensor.

  • Monte carlo method is especially a useful method for the analysis of thermal noise of semiconductor devices since the time dependence of microscopic details is simulated directly. Recently, a mthod for the calculation of the instantaneous currents of 2-dimensional devices, which is numerically more accurate than the conventional method, has been proposed using the generalized ramo-shockley theorem. Using this mehtod we investage the validity of the existing thermal noise theories of field-effect transistors. First, the 1-dimensional analysis of thermal noise theories of field-effect transistors. First, the 1-dimensional analysis of thermal noise theories of field-effect transistors. First, the 1-dimensional analysis of thermal noise using ramo-shockley theorem is shown to be applicable to 2 dimensional devices if the frequency of interest is low enough. The correlation between electrons in different regions of th echannel is shown not to be negligible. And we also obtian the spatial map of the noise in the channel region. By doing so, we show that the steady state nyquist theorem is the correct theory rather than the theory by van der ziel et.al.

  • The next generation electronics need to not only be smaller but also be more flexible. To meet such demands, electronic devices using two dimensional (2D) atomic crystals have been studied intensely. Especially, graphene which have unprecedented performance fulfillments in versatile research fields leads a parade of 2D atomic crystals. In this talk, I will introduce the electrical characterization and applications of graphene for prominently electrical transistors realization. Even the rising 2D atomic crystals such as hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN), molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) and organic thin film for field effect transistor (FET) toward competent enhancement will be mentioned.

  • Nanostructures have great potential in various devices due to the their promising electronic and optical properties. Nano-patterned the front surface of a solar cell generally results in improved performance, mostly due to an increase in the short-circuit current by the incident photons strike the cell surface at an angle. In this work, we investigate AFM-assisted nano-patterned field effect transistors (FETs) with vairous silicon oxide distance value D, from ${\sim}0.5{\mu}m$ to $1{\mu}m$. Also, we compared the electro-optical characteristics of the patterned FETs and the non-patterned FETs (reference device) based on both 2-dimensional simulation and experimental results for the wavelength from 100nm to 900nm. In addition, we report electric characteristics for illuminated surface in schottky barrier field effect transistors (SB-FETs).

  • Thermal noise generated in the electrolyte is modeled for the electrolyte-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors. Two noise sources contribute to output noise currents. One is the thermal noise generated in the bulk electrolyte region, and the other is the thermal noise from the double-layer region at the electrolyte-oxide interface. By employing two slightly-different equivalent circuits for two noise current sources, the power spectral density of output noise current is calculated. From the modeling and simulated results, the bulk electrolyte thermal noise dominates the double-layer thermal noise. Electrolyte thermal noise are computed for three different concentrations of NaCl electrolyte. The derived formulas give a good agreement with the published experimental data.

  • We develop single-crystal poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiopene nanowires using liquid-bridge-mediated nanotransfer printing via vapor phase polymerization. This direct printing method can simultaneously enable the synthesis, alignment and patterning of the nanowires from molecular ink solutions. Twoor three-dimensional complex structures of various single-crystal organic nanowires were directly fabricated over a large area using many types of molecular inks. This method is capable of generating several optoelectronic devices. LB-nTM is based on the direct transfer of various materials from a mold to a substrate via a liquid bridge between them. To demonstrate its usefulness, we used LB-nTM to fabricate nanowire field-effect transistors and arrays of 6,13-bis (triisopropyl- silylethynyl) pentacene (TIPS-PEN) nanowire field-effect transistors.
