Influence of ventilation rate on the aerodynamic interference between two extra-large indirect dry cooling towers by CFD

  • Current wind-resistance designs of large-scale indirect dry cooling towers (IDCTs) exclude an important factor: the influence of the ventilation rate for radiator shutter on wind loads on the outer surfaces of the tower shell. More seemingly overlooked aspects are the effects of various ventilation rates on the wind pressure distribution on the tower surfaces of two IDCTs, and the feature of the flow field around them. In order to investigate the effects of the radiator shutter ventilation rates on the aerodynamic interference between IDCTs, this paper established the numerical wind tunnel model based on the Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) technology, and analyzed the influences of various radiator shutter ventilation rates on the aerodynamic loads acting upon a single and two extra-large IDCTs during building, installation, and operation stages. Through the comparison with the results of physical wind tunnel test and different design codes, the results indicated that: the influence of the ventilation rate on the flow field and shape coefficients on the outer surface of a single IDCT is weak, and the curve of mean shape coefficients is close to the reference curve provided by the current design code. In a two-tower combination, the ventilation rate significantly affects the downwind surface of the front tower and the upwind surface of the back tower, and the larger positive pressure shifts down along the upwind surface of the back tower as the ventilation rate increases. The ventilation rate significantly influences the drag force coefficient of the back tower in a two-tower combination, the drag force coefficient increases with the ventilation rate and reaches the maximum in a building status of full ventilation, and the maximum drag coefficient is 11% greater than that with complete closure.

제주도 넙치 양식현장에서 배합사료 성장 평가 (Evaluation of extruded pellet for growth performance of olive flounder Paralichthys olivaceus in Jeju farm field)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate extruded pellet (EP) diet compared with a raw fish moist pellet (MP) diet for flounder, Paralichthys olivaceus on field feeding experiments in Jeju area. The experimental EP diet (juvenile, growing and adult) was prepared based on the former studies on nutrient requirements and feed ingredient of flounder. Fish were distributed randomly to each aquarium as a group of 102,300 fish (initial mean weight 97 g) in field experiment I and reared randomly to each aquarium as a group of 40,000 fish (initial mean weight 120 g) in field experiment II. In field feeding experiment I conducted in commercial flounder farm, survival, wt. gain (94-1,090 g), feed efficiency and condition factor of fish fed experimental EP were comparable to those of fish fed MP, but considerably higher protein efficiency ratio were observed in fish fed experimental EP. In field feeding experiment II, no significant difference was observed in final mean weight of fish fed the experimental EP (1,234 g) and MP (1,286 g), and any noticeable problem caused by feeding the experimental EP was not found during the whole period of feeding trial. Survival of fish fed the experimental EP was lower than that of MP, and there was no significant difference in feed efficiency between the fish fed experimental EP and MP. Therefore, these results strongly suggest that diet EP could be developed to replace MP diet for the marketable size (1.3 kg) of production for flounder without adverse effects on growth performance. In particular, abdominal dropsy and reduction of condition factor, which are frequently occurred in commercial EP feeding farms, were not observed in flounder fed experimental EP.

주의력결핍 과잉행동장애 아동에서 학습동기증진프로그램 (The Learning Motivation Improvement Program in Children with Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder(ADHD))

  • Objectives : Motivational factor is a unique contributor to the typically poor academic performance of children with ADHD. However, few study has directly intervened learning motivation in children with ADHD. We conducted this study to explore the direct effects of the learning motivation improvement program applied to children with ADHD. Method The program was designed in order to increase an interest-inducing educational intervention, an academic skills integration, a basic learning activity (reading, writing, and math), and children's self-esteem. We conducted the program twice a week (total 10 sessions) and assessed learning motivation, teaming attitude, self-esteem, academic performance, and problem behaviors of participating children. Results : After the program, teachers reported improvement in teaming motivation. In addition, parents notified sisnificant reduction of problem behaviors. Children reported improvement in a few domains of teaming motivation and learning attitude. Conclusion : While loaming motivation is regarded as an important factor in education, there have been few studies considering this issue in both educational and psychiatric fields. The teaming motivation improvement would be needed in both field in order to reduce the deficits in academic performance in children with ADHD.

지반반력계수$(K_{30})$와 변형률계수$(E_v)$에 대한 고찰 (Study on the subgrade reaction modulus$(K_{30})$ and strain modulus$(E_v)$)

  • Two modulus, strain modulus $(E_v)$ and subgrade reaction modulus $(K_{30})$ are being used as a standard for bearing stiffness in Korea Railroad design. The first is used in Europe and the other is used in Japan. The methodologies to obtain the two modulus are similar in using plate. But testing methods are different in loading to plate. Therefore, according to soil strain range, there should be large gap in not only computations of deformation modulus but also the necessary time to test. At first, this paper focuses on the two kinds of test methods to evaluate bearing stiffness. Secondly, based on elastic theory, the theory to obtain the two coefficients are studied thoroughly. Finally, the correlations between the two coefficients were analyzed and evaluated based on the field test results more than 38 places. The matching values for subgrade and ground between $K_{30}$ and $E_{v2}$ are proposed with the consideration of the proposed strain reduction factor (1.5 for subgrade and 3 for ground) and safety factor, respectively.

Hybrid of the fuzzy logic controller with the harmony search algorithm to PWR in-core fuel management optimization

  • One of the important parts of the in-core fuel management is loading pattern optimization (LPO). The loading pattern optimization as a reasonable design of the in-core fuel management can improve both economic and safe aspects of the nuclear reactor. This work proposes the hybrid of fuzzy logic controller with harmony search algorithm (HS) for loading pattern optimization in a pressurized water reactor. The music improvisation process to find a pleasing harmony is inspiring the harmony search algorithm. In this work, the adjustment of the harmony search algorithm parameters such as the bandwidth and the pitch adjustment rate are increasing performance of the proposed algorithm which is done through a fuzzy logic controller. Hence, membership functions and fuzzy rules are designed to improve the performance of the HS algorithm and achieve optimal results. The objective of the method is finding an optimum core arrangement according to safety and economic aspects such as reduction of power peaking factor (PPF) and increase of effective multiplication factor (Keff). The proposed approach effectiveness has been tried in two cases, Michalewicz's bivariate function problem and NEACRP LWR core. The results show that by using fuzzy harmony search algorithm the value of the fitness function is improved by 15.35%. Finally, with regard to the new solutions proposed in this research it could be used as a trustworthy method for other optimization issues of engineering field.

퍼지 기법을 이용한 소음 저감 원천기술의 기술가치 산정에 관한 연구 (A Study on Valuation of Micro-pressure Wave Reduction Technology Using Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation)

  • 기술의 가치는 다양한 방법에 의해서 평가되어 지지만, 평가자의 주관과 평가 기법에 따라 상이한 결과를 초래하게 된다. 또한 평가 시 고려해야 할 요인 및 적용모형에 따라 결과의 불확실성이 생기게 되며, 특히 자료의 부족 또는 비교 대상이 없는 경우에는 평가 기술에 대한 가치 산정 결과의 신뢰성에 문제가 생길 수 있다. 이러한 평가 상의 불확실성을 감소시키기 위해 본 연구에서는 요인들에 대해 숫자(점수)로 평가하던 기존의 방식 대신 5가지 언어표현(아주 높음, 높음, 보통, 낮음, 아주 낮음)을 이용하는 퍼지 이론 및 이를 정량화 시킬 수 있는 퍼지 포괄 기법을 적용하여 특정 기술의 기술력을 측정하였다. 이를 위하여 국내에서 개발 중인 소음 저감 원천기술을 사례로 하여 기술성 요인과 사업성 요인으로 분류하고 기술의 가치를 평가 하였다. 기술성 요인은 높음, 사업성 요인은 아주 높음으로 평가되었으며, 이 요인들을 고려한 종합 평가에서는 아주 높음으로 평가되었다. 또한, 이는 각 요인별(세부요인, 대요인) 기술의 가치를 계량적으로 평가 할 수 있어 경쟁기술과의 요인별 비교에 도움이 될 것이다. 본 연구의 기법을 적용하면 다양한 분야에서 신규 기술(콘텐츠) 또는 대체 개발 기술(콘텐츠)과 같이 비교 자료가 부족한 경우에 기술력 분석 시 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

도로터널에서 편마암 구간의 암반변형계수 산정 연구 (Assessment of Deformation Modulus in Gneiss for Road Tunnel)

  • 본 연구에서는 지질적 조건이 유사하고 흑운모편마암과 화강편마암이 기반암으로 구성되어있는 도로터널 4개소를 선정하여 실내 현장시험 및 암반분류를 실시하였다. 그 결과에 대한 회귀분석을 수행하여 각각에 대한 상호관계를 분석하였다. 또한, 기반암으로 구성된 흑운모편마암과 화강편마암에 대한 실내시험결과를 활용하여 암반변형계수를 산정하기 위한 감쇠지수 산정식을 제시하였다. 본 대상터널에서 RMR과 Q, RQD, 현장시험과 실내시험결과의 상관관계식에 대한 신뢰도를 분석하였다. 이들 분석에서 Q와 RQD의 상관관계가 가장 밀접한 것으로 확인되었다.

Fabrication of Novel Metal Field Emitter Arrays(FEAs) Using Isotropic Silicon Etching and Oxidation

  • A new metal tip fabrication process for low voltage operation is reported in this paper. The key element of the fabrication process is that isotropic silicon etching and oxidation process used in silicon tip fabrication is utilized for gate hole size reduction and gate oxide layer. A metal FEA with 625 tips was fabricated in order to demonstrate the validity of the new process and submicron gate apertures were successfully obtained from originally 1.7$\mu\textrm{m}$ diameter mask. The emission current above noise level was observed at the gate bias of 50V. The required gate voltage to obtain the anode current of 0.1${\mu}\textrm{A}$/tip was 74V and the emission current was stable above 2${\mu}\textrm{A}$/tip without any disruption. The local field conversion factor and the emitting area were calculated as 7.981${\times}$10\ulcornercm\ulcorner and 3.2${\times}$10\ulcorner$\textrm{cm}^2$/tip, respectively.

매입형 영구자석 동기전동기의 최적 전류각 제어 (Optimal current angle control method of interior permanent magnet Synchronous Motors)

  • Recently, Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor(PMSM) drives are widely used for industrial applications due to its high efficiency and high power factor control strategy. PMSM generally have two classifications such as the SPMSM(Surface Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors) and IPMSM(Inter Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors). IPMSA has economical merits over SPMSM in higher speed range, mechanical robustness, and higher power rate by the geometric difference. The maximum torque operation in IPMSM is realized by the current angle control which is to utilize additional reluctance torque due to a rotor saliency. In traction, spindle and compressor drives, constant power operation with higher speed range are desirable. This is simply achieved in the DC motor drives by the reduction of the field current as the speed is increased. However, in the PMSM, direct control of the magnet flux is not available. The airgap flux can be weakened by the appropriate current angle control to demagnetize. In this paper, the control method of optimal current vector in IPMSM is described in order to obtain the maximum torque or maximum output with the speed and load variations. The applied algorithm is realized by the proto system with torque and speed control Experimental results show this approach is satisfied for the high performance servo applications.   • Korea residential housing generally use wet floor heating system 'Ondol' which consist of insulation cushioning, lightweight foamed concrete, hot water pipe and mortar on top of reinforced concrete slab. Wet floor heating system's installation process is too complicate and difficult to supervise field for continuing assurance quality. Also, this method has a huge impact on the progress of construction because it take a long time to cure finishing mortar and lightweight foamed concrete. Therefore, it is considered a disturbance factor of reduction of construction duration for enhancing competitiveness. In this study, we conducted an experiment about the radiant heat performance and temperature difference on upper panel of rolled dry floor heating systems which is jointly developed by Kolon global and Sumisho Metalex for remodeling housing, studio apartment and the urban-life housing.
