  • Cardiac papillary fibroelastoma (CPF) is the second or third most common primary cardiac tumor. Although histologically benign, it can cause serious symptoms depending on its location of occurrence, size, and motility. Herein, we report CPF in the left ventricular trabeculation as a potential cause of cerebral infarction.

  • Papillary fibroelastoma is the second most common benign cardiac tumor, usually involving the cardiac valve. Papillary fibroelastoma attached at the right coronary cusp of the aortic valve was found in a 51-year-old woman, who was presented with chest pain and dyspnea. During the operation, the tumor mass was excised without causing damage on the aortic valve leaflet.

  • We report a 72-year-old male with known myelodysplastic syndrome who presented to the emergency department with a 7-day history of fever and dyspnea. Echocardiography revealed a round echogenic mass $13{\times}16mm$ in size attached to the atrial side of the tricuspid valve. Considering the high risk of infective endocarditis in the patient with a low absolute neutrophil count ($130/mm^3$), emergency surgery was performed. Intraoperatively, a single gelatinous neoplasm was resected, and subsequent reconstruction of the involved leaflet was accomplished using autologous pericardium. The tumor was pathologically confirmed as papillary fibroelastoma with no evidence of infective endocarditis. Papillary fibroelastoma is a rare cardiac neoplasm that occurs in either the mitral or aortic valves. Interestingly, a few cases of tricuspid valve papillary fibroelastoma have been reported so far. Similar echocardiographic findings between vegetation and tricuspid valve neoplasm make it difficult to distinguish these two disease entities.

  • Papillary fibroelastoma is a rare benign cardiac tumor with an elevated risk for embolization and most papillary fibroelastomas do not cause symptoms. In this report, we describe a case of previous undiagnosed masses of the aortic valve that were incidentally found on intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography during coronary artery bypass surgery. Upon surgery, masses were found on the left and right aortic cusps and the pathological findings were consistent with a papillary fibroelastoma.

  • Papillary fibroelastoma is a rare benign tumor of the heart. A 21-year-old man presented with dyspnea on exertion and echocardiogram showed a small round mass attached to the anterolateral papillary muscle. After excision of the mass, including anterior papillary muscle, chordae tendinae, and anterior leaflet, he underwent mitral valve re-placement with a mechanical valve. He was discharged on anticoagulant therapy without further problems.

  • Papillary fibroelastomas are benign, and they are the second most common primary cardiac tumors usually involving the cardiac valve. Papillary fibroelastoma attached to the free margin of right coronary cusp of the aortic vlave was found incidentally during the work-up of a 51-year-old woman, who was presented with palpitation and dyspnea. During the operation, the tumor mass was excised without leaving defect on the aortic valve leaflet.

  • Cardiac papillary fibroelastomas are the second most common primary tumor of the heart and they most commonly affect the left cardiac valves. However, occurrence of this tumor on the right side of the heart has been rarely reported, with only a few cases having been documented on the pulmonary valve. We present here a rare case of a papillary fibroelastoma that occurred on the pulmonary valve and this was successfully managed by replacing the pulmonary valve in a patient with congestive heart failure.

  • Cardiac papillary fibroelastomas are the second most common primary cardiac tumor. This tumor is usually benign and it involves the cardiac valve. However, most cardiac papillary fibroelastomas originate from a single site, and the incidence of cardiac papillary fibroelastomas originating from multiple sites is very rare (5%). A 55-year-old woman who presented with momentary dizziness and syncope was evaluated by performing echocardiography. Multiple tumors attached to the aortic valve were noted. The mass was removed freely without leaving any defect on the aortic valve leaflet. After the recovery period, the patient is currently being followed up at the outpatient department.

  • A 43 years old female patient who had been diagnosed as having valvular heart disease but had not received any treatment invited and admitted due to progressive dyspnea. She was diagnosed as having aortic and mitral valve stenosis and regurgitation. Neurologic symptoms developed suddenly therefore, surgery was performed. In the operation field, there were many fungating tissue around the mitral valve annulus and left atrial wall. After operation, no neurologic symptoms were observed and pathologist revealed that fungating tissue was papillary fibroleastoma. The patient recovered and was followed in outpatients department.

  • An 81-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital with bilateral chest wall mass in the infrascapular region. Considering the possible diagnosis of a malignant chest wall tumor at such location, we performed excision and biopsy. Both masses were histologically diagnosed as elastofibroma. We experienced this rare disease, bilateral elastofibroma, so we report this case with a bibliography.
