Today We have three full series of the annals of Joseon Dynasty. Taebaeksan volume which is one of them shows comparatively good maintenance but Taebaeksan volume also decomposed in patches. The size of cover and inner paper were increased in late Joseon Dynasty, but the weight, thickness and basis weight bears no relation to each other. The oxidation index of paper in annals of pre-periods of King Sunjo shows very high value. After the annals of King Sunjo, the oxidation index of paper is very similar to today's Hanji. L.a.b values of inner paper in the Taebaeksan volume are similar generally. The average length of fiber using image analysis soft ware is 8.08~9.92 mm, that like immediate value of measurement. The air fraction of fiber's range is 1.20~2.12%. It lower than today's Hanji. After considering the factors of the length of fiber, air fraction and FE-SEM, we reached that no difference between raw material of inner paper in the Taebaeksan volume.
The method of using fiber speckle patterns can be applied to the multiplexing of volume holograms. Fiber speckle patterns enable various multiplexing techniques such as shift, angular, and mode-scrambling methods Hybrid methods involving more than one multiplexing technique are also possible. Some images are stored and retrieved with one or two of multiplexing methods, and the experimental results are discussed.

PURPOSES: As pavement generally provides service shorter than an expected life cycle, maintenance cost increases gradually. In order to help extending the service life and reduce maintenance cost, a new multi-functional composite pavement system is being developed in Korea. METHODS: This study is a part to develop the multi-functional composite pavement and is to investigate the mechanical performances of fiber-reinforced lean concrete for pavement subbase. The inherent problem of fiber reinforced concrete is dispersion of fibers in concrete mix. This study additionally evaluated fiber dispersion characteristics with respect to different fiber types. RESULTS: From the test results, the compressive strengths of the concretes satisfied the required limit of 5MPa at 7days. The standard deviation of the measured number of fibers were lower in the order of nylon, steel fiber and polypropylene. CONCLUSIONS: Reject ash was shown to be satisfactory as a replacement material to Portland cement in lean concrete base. The fiber volume fraction is suggested to be 0.4% even though the fracture toughness did not vary significantly with respect to fiber types. However, fracture energy absorbed up to complete failure increased with the increased fiber volume fraction increment.
To improve the brittle column behavior during seismic excitation, benefits of using steel fiber reinforced concrete in columns were investigated. For experimental study, eight specimens were used to evaluate the shear enhancement effect. The variables in this study were amount of shear reinforcement ratio (i.e., 0.26, 0.21 $\%$) and steel fiber volume fraction (i.e., 0.0, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0$\%$). The test results indicated that the maximum enhancement of shear capacity was shown in $1.5\%$ steel fiber content. In addition, to predict the maximum shear strength, equations of ACI 318-99, AIJ MB, NZS 3101, Hirosawa and Priestley were reviewed. From the parametric and regression study, modified Priestely equation was proposed by adding steel fiber effect.

Experimental study was conducted to investigate the flexural-shear behavior of hooked steel fiber reinforced high strength concrete (SFRHC) beams. Twenty beams with shear span-depth ratio of 1.45 were tested, of which variables were the contents of steel fiber with aspect ratio of 60, tension reinforcement ratio and concrete compressive of 60MPa and 80MPa. Test results has shown that shear failure of the beams were changed into flexural-shear failure or flexural failure according to increasing steel fiber content, that SFRHC with slump of 15cm over and fiber volume ratio of 1.5% was possible in practice, and that proper volume ratio of steel fiber was 1.5%.

The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the effect of type and volume fraction of fiber on the electrical conductivity and shielding effectiveness of cementitious composites. The large specific surface area of amorphous metallic fiber, as well as the high number of fibers per unit weight, provided an advantage in the formation of conductive path. As the result, the electrical conductivity of amorphous metallic fiber was evaluated to be higher, and the shielding effectiveness was also higher. However, the shielding effectiveness according to electrical conductivity was confirmed to have a threshold point, and further research is needed to improve it.

In this study, the effect of steel fiber utilization, boundary conditions, different beam cross-section, and length parameter are investigated on the free vibration behavior of fiber reinforced self-compacting concrete beam on elastic foundation. In the analysis of the beam model recommended by Euler-Bernoulli, a method utilizing Stokes transformations and Fourier Sine series were used. For this purpose, in addition to the control beam containing no fiber, three SCC beam elements were prepared by utilization of steel fiber as 0.6% by volume. The time-dependent fresh properties and some mechanical properties of self-compacting concrete mixtures were investigated. In the modelled beam, four different beam specimens produced with 0.6% by volume of steel fiber reinforced and pure (containing no fiber) SCC were analyzed depending on different boundary conditions, different beam cross-sections, and lengths. For this aim, the effect of elasticity of the foundation, cross-sectional dimensions, beam length, boundary conditions, and steel fiber on natural frequency and frequency parameters were investigated. As a result, it was observed that there is a noticeable effect of fiber reinforcement on the dynamic behavior of the modelled beam.

This study carried out finite element deflection analysis of cylindrical shell structures made of composite materials, which is based on the micro-mechanical approach for different fiber-volume fractions. The finite element (FE) models for composite structures using multi-scale approaches described in this paper is attractive not only because it shows excellent accuracy in analysis but also it shows the effect of the material combination. New results reported in this paper are focused on the significant effects of the fiber-volume fraction for various parameters, such as fiber angles, layup sequences, and length-thickness ratios. It may be concluded from this study that the combination effect of fiber and matrix, largely governing the dynamic characteristics of composite shell structures, should not be neglected and thus the optimal combination could be used to design such civil structures for better dynamic performance.
The use of reinforced concrete (RC) shear wall with concrete filled steel tube (CFST) columns and steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) shear wall has aroused widespread attention in recent years. A new shear wall, named SFRC shear wall with CFST columns, is proposed in this paper, which makes use of CFST column and SFRC shear wall. Six SFRC shear wall with CFST columns specimens were tested under cyclic loading. The effects of test parameters including steel fiber volume fraction and concrete strength on the failure mode, strength, ductility, rigidity and dissipated energy of shear wall specimens were investigated. The results showed that all tested shear wall specimens exhibited a distinct shear failure mode. Steel fibers could effectively control the crack width and improve the distribution of cracks. The load carrying and energy dissipation capacities of specimens increased with the increase of steel fiber volume fraction and concrete strength, whilst the ductility of specimens increased with the increase of steel fiber volume fraction and the decrease of concrete strength.

In an effort to construct a structure under the design principle of minimal use of materials for maximum performances, a discrete gradient structure has been introduced in laminate composite systems. Using a sequential linear programming method, the gradient structure of composites to maximize the buckling load was optimized in terms of fiber volume fraction and thickness of each layer. Theoretical optimization results were then verified with experimental ones. The buckling load of laminate composite showed maximum value with the outmost [$0^{\circ}$] layer concentrated by almost all the fibers when the ratio of length to width(aspect ratio) was less than 1.0. But when the aspect ratio was 2.0, the optimum was determined in a structure where the thickness and fiber volume fraction were well balanced in each layer. From the optimization of gradient structure, the optimal fiber volume fraction and thickness of each layer were proposed. Experimental results agreed well with the theoretical ones. Gradient structures have also shown an advantage in the weight reduction of composites compared with the conventional homogeneous structures.
