Previously sailing yachts or leisure yachts were mainly made from FRP(Fiber glass reinforced plastic) in the small shipbuilding, but recently there is a trend to replace it for steel or aluminum to substitute FRP for environmental friendly materials. Although It have to need a many checked item in case of hull girder strength and transverse strength normally evaluate base on calculation of class guideline so called direct calculation method. Otherwise. this method of initial structural design considered enough for safety margin on the structure. But, case of small craft must consider for evaluating local strength through rational method. In this paper, check the bow structure members for satisfying results base on allowable stress criterion of damaged bow structure by dynamic load due to slamming and bottom impact load due to pitching motion through finite element analysis. and investigate engine bed structure considering engine weight load and transverse wave load.
Carbon fiber is an excellent structural material, which has been proven in many industries, and the shipbuilding industry is no exception. In particular, in advanced maritime countries, special ships of the Navy and Coast Guard with carbon fiber composite hulls have already been deployed. In Korea, carbon fiber composite materials have been applied to a 10-ton class leisure craft or a 30-ton class patrol, but no research has been done on a hundred of tons or more vessels. In this study, the feasibility study of a 500-ton patrol vessel with a carbon fiber composite hull was conducted through an analysis of similar cases abroad. As a result, it was recognized that the developed hull can be reduced in weight by about 21% to 25% compared to the existing aluminum or FRP hull. It was also confirmed that this light-weight effect can induce the improvement of the maximum speed and the improvement of the operating range via simulations.

Superconducting synchronous motors and generators have the field coil composed of superconductor with almost zero resistance at superconducting state. Therefore, copper loss at the conventional field coil is eliminated and the superconducting machine gets higher efficiency. The armature coil of the superconducting machine is composed of copper wire and supported by non-magnetic material such as FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic) This paper contains the design Procedure of a 1MW superconducting synchronous motor using high-temperature superconductor only for the field coil. Especially, the armature coil is designed by water-cooling in order to dissipate Joule heat easily. Moreover, 3-dimensional electromagnetic design is conducted to get a proper design result and reduce design errors from 2-dimensional approach.

In this study, the vibration characteristics were theoretically analyzed by modeling a free isotropic rotating disk with an outer periphery with a fixed inner periphery, paying attention to disks used as storage devices for information devices, especially magnetic disks, magneto-optical disks, and compact disks in which the head and disk are non-contact. Iluminate with Composite materials represented by fiber-reinforced plastics (FRP) have high specific strength (strength/density) and specific stiffness (narrowness/density). It is used in the elements, and its use is rapidly expanding. Under this circumstance, the disk currently manufactured using an isotropic material made of various plastic materials such as aluminum or polycarbonate as a base material is an extremely anisotropic material made of a composite material, and the circumferential stiffness of the disk is made of reinforcing fibers in the circumferential direction. It is modeled as an anisotropic rotating disk with increased, and its influence on the vibration characteristics is revealed.

Soil nailing is a reinforcement method used for stabilizing excavated walls or slopes. Due to its much advantages such as ease of construction and economical efficiency, use of soil nailing is increased. However, the soil nail has much disadvantages for use in urban area. The soil nail needs to be installed inevitably beyond private land boundary, which causes rent for use. For this reason, removable soil nailing system was developed. However, the removal rate of this system is just about 50¢¦70%. To resolve this problem, the Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) soil nailing system which does not need to be removed and allows for the installation beyond private land, is developed. In this paper, through theoretical and experimental studies in laboratory and field such as prototype tests, pullout tests, we evaluate the stability and behavior characteristics of the FRP soil nailing system. And, numerical analyses using FLAC2D were performed with respect to various soil conditions, where prototype test for excavation wall and pullout tests were carried out. As a result of this study, the FRP soil nailing systems show similar behavior characteristics with those of removable soil nailing system. Finally, considering the serviceability and mechanical stability of FRP soil nailing systems, it is enough to be used as a good alternative of general soil nailing system.
Fiber metal hybrid laminate (FML) can be used as an economic material with superior mechanical properties and light weight than conventional metal by bonding of metal and FRP. However, there are disadvantages that it is difficult to predict fracture behavior because of the large difference in properties depending on the type of fiber and lamination conditions. In this paper, we study the failure behavior of hybrid materials with laminated glass fiber reinforced plastics (GFRP, GEP118, woven type) in Al6061-T6 alloy. The Al alloys were coated with GFRP 1, 3, and 5 layers, and fracture behavior was analyzed by using a static test and a low cycle fatigue test. In the low cycle fatigue test, strain - life analysis and the total strain energy density method were used to analyze and predict the fatigue life. The Al alloy did not have tensile properties strengthening effect due to the GFRP coating. The fatigue hysteresis geometry followed the behavior of the Al alloy, the base material, regardless of the GFRP coating and number of coatings. As a result of the low cycle fatigue test, the fatigue strength was increased by the coating of GFRP, but it did not increase proportionally with the number of GFRP layers.

Low frequency heavy-weight impact noise is the most irritating noise in Korean high-rise reinforced concrete apartment buildings. This low frequency noise is generated by foot traffic due to the fact that Koreans do not wear shoes at home. The transmission of the noise is facilitated by a load bearing wall structural system without beams and columns which is used in these buildings. In order to control low frequency heavy-weight impact noise, floating floors using isolation materials such as glass-wool mat and poly-urethane mat are used. However, it was difficult to control low frequency heavy-weight impact sound using isolation material. In this study, reinforcement of concrete slab using beams and plate was conducted. Using the FEM analysis, the effect of concrete slab reinforcement using FRP(fiber-glass reinforced plastic) on the bang machine impact vibration acceleration level and sound were conducted at the standard floor impact sound test building. The $3{\sim}4dB$ floor impact vibration acceleration level and impact sound pressure level were reduced and the natural frequency of slabs were changed.

For the construction of PC bridge piers the implementation of 1992 seismic provisions, longitudinal steels were practically lap-spliced in the plastic hinge region. Experimental investigation was conducted ductility of evaluate the seismic earthquake-experienced reinforced concrete columns with 2,5 aspect ratio. Six test specimens were mode with test parameters: confinement ratios, lap splices, and retrofitting FRP materials. They were damaged under series of artificial earthquakes that could be compatible in Korean peninsula. Directly after the pseudo-dynamic test, damaged columns were retested under inelastic reversal cyclic loading simultaneously under a constant axial load, P=0.1f$\_$ck/A$\_$g/. Residual seismic performance of damaged columns was evaluated and compared to that of the corresponding original columns. Test results show that PC bridge piers with lap-spliced longitudinal steels appeared to fail at low ductility. This was due to the debonding of the lap splice, which resulted from insufficient development of the longitudinal steels. The specimens externally wrapped with composite FRP straps in the potential plastic hinge region indicated significant improvement both in flexural strength and displacement ductility.

최근 국민 소득향상과 더불어, 여가시간 증가에 따라 해양레저에 대한 관심이 크게 높아지고 있으며, 그에 따라 레저용 선박 수요도 증가하고 있다. 기존 국내 소형 선박의 경우 FRP(fiber-reinforced plastic)재료로 선박을 건조해 왔다.
