The purpose of this study was to identify the constructing factors of impression formation on man's body revealing casual clothes by university students, and to investigate the effect of revealing clothing styles and perceiver's gender on each factors of impression. The stimuli consisted of 12 color photogrphs including various styles of body revealing casual tops and bottoms; subject consisted of 310 male and female university student; subject observed 2 photographs each, ramdomly chosen from a pool of 12 and answered 37 semantic differention questions. Statistics applied for analysis were Factor Analysis, ANOVA and post hoc test. Results were; 1. Important factors constructing the impresstion of a male dressed in body revealing casual clothes were modesty, sexual stimulation and individuality 2. The styles of the body exposure and perceiver's gender had partial significant influence on impression formation.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of clothing color and exposure on stereotype formation of female appearance. The subjects for the research survey were 418 male and female university students in Taejon, Korea. The measuring instruments were a self-administered questionnaire and six written scripts which described a woman wearing clothing manipulated by clothing color and exposure variables. The collected data were analyzed using content analysis, T-test, crosstabs analysis, ANOVA, and Duncan's multiple range test. The results of this study were as follows. First, three dimensions (global image, appearance inference, and appearance evaluation) emerged from the subject responses. Clothing exposure had the greatest impact upon the stereotype formation of female appearance. The woman wearing exposed clothing was rated as 'sexy', 'confident', and 'glamorous' whereas the same woman wearing unexposed clothing was rated as 'slim', 'humdrum', 'ladylike', and 'neat'. Second, the gender of the subject played a role in forming stereotypes of women's appearance. The male subjects rated the woman wearing exposed clothing as 'sexy' and 'glamorous' whereas the 1em81e subjects rated the same woman as 'slim' and 'pretty'. Third, the male subjects evaluated the woman wearing expend clothing in much more negative terms than the female subjects did, indicating that men tended to use 'modesty' to evaluate the woman whereas women tended to use 'fashion trend' in addition to 'modesty' as the important criteria when assessing women dressed in exposed clothing. Fourth, the subjects judged the woman wearing exposed clothing to be an entertainer or prostitute in her early 20s. On the other hand, the subjects judged the woman wearing unexposed clothing to be either a university student or a professional business women in her mid 20s.
The purpose of this study was to investigate 1) the effects of clothing styles on impression formation of middle and high school students and 2) the differences in impression in relation to perceiver variablex(sex, age, residence). The sample consisted of 60 subjects in each of 8 perceiver groups according to sex, age and residence. Stimuli consisted of 10 color photographs of male and female adolescent wearing each of 5 clothing styles respectively. Questionnaires consisted of 43 seven-point semantic differential scales measuring perceivers responses to the stimuli, open-ended Question and perceiver’s clothing style preference. Responses to the semantic differential scale were factor analyzed and 4 factors - Self-confidence/refinement, Sincerity, Intelligence, and Sociability - were emerged to account for the structure of the impression of the male stimuli. Five factors - Sincerity, Refinement, Self-confidence, Sociability, Intellience - were emerged in case of female stimuli. One-way ANOVA results showed that clothing styles had the effects on all the factors of impression except Sincerity. From the reset analyzing the effects of perceiver variables on impressions, age had the effects in all the clothing styles, sex had the effects in 6 clothing styles, and residence in 5 clothing styles. Clothing style 5(male stimuli) and style 10(female stimuli) were the most preferred clothing style in all the subject groups.

The purpose of the present study were 1) to identify the dimensional structure of impression formed of a female figure, 2) to analyze effects of several elements of apparel design on impression formation of the figure in suit. The experimental materials developed for this study were a set of stimuli and a response scale. The stimuli consisted of 60 drawings made by identical manipulations of 3 indepndent variables in 3 clothing styles(suit, dress and pants with blouse). The independent variables were (1) five clothing colors (red, blue, yellow, white and black), (2) two lengths(short/long) of suit skirt, dress, and pants (3) two types of blouse and dress collars (shirt collar/ribbon collar). The 7-point semantic differential response scale to measure the dependent variables (formed impressions of the female figure) was composed of 37 bipolar adjectives. Further- more, two open-ended questions were used for interpretation of the reponses. The study proceeded in three independent experimental part was based on the 3 clothing styles using a 5(color)$\times$2(length)$\times$2(collar) factorial design. Subject were 200 female undergraduate students reandomly assigned to one of 20 combinations in each part of the experiment. The data were analyzed by factor analysis, 3-way ANOVA and Multiple Classification Analysis. Five factors emerged to account for the dimensional structure of impression of the female figure in specific attire. These factors included three basic dimensions of impression identified as potency, activity and evaluation, confirming the results of previous studies. Result from open-ended questionaire supported the theoretical perspective of Schneider, Hastorf and Ellsworth on the procedure of impression formation.
This essay aims to examine chick lit written within the Asian American context. For the most part, the chick lit genre has been typically regarded as a site to study contemporary white women's experiences and to debate the genres' credentials as feminist literature. Though some may disagree, there is general consensus that chick lit has fallen out of vogue after reaching its peak in the first decade of the new millenium.; nevertheless, it is being revisited by readers and critics alike as it has recently re-emerged as a location upon which to examine how race and gender inform notions of national belonging and female subject formation in the twenty-first century. To this end, this essay reads Kim Wong Keltner's The Dim Sum of All Things (2004). Keltner's protagonist Lindsey Owyang is yet another twentysomething "chick" looking for love, self, independence, and success in the huge megalopolis of San Francisco. What sets Lindsey apart from the chick prototype is that she is a third-generation ABC (American-born Chinese) and issues relevant to Asian America frequently make their way into Lindsey's narrative. Though it is generally considered as standing a "few notches above the standard chick-lit fare" (Stover n. pag), I would argue that meaningful reflections on many of the major pillars of Asian American literature, history, and cultural politics are glossed over in favor of cursory musings about the daily vicissitudes of Lindsey's life. This essay thus takes to task Ferriss's claim that a "serious" consideration of chick lit "brings into focus many of the issues facing contemporary women and contemporary culture - issues of identity, of race and class, of femininity and feminism, of consumerism and self-image" (2). I contend that a close examination of Keltner's The Dim Sum of All Things discloses that the chick lit format undermines a "serious consideration" of Asian American issues by presenting in particular a highly problematic representation of race and of Asian American femininity.

The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of religious habits and hair styles on korean catholic sister's impression. The subject consisted of 256 female high school students and 256 female undergraduated students The experimental materials developed for this study were 16 color photographs stimuli of drawing and 7-point semantic differential scale composed of 30 bipolar adjectives representing personal traits. The major findings drawn from this study were as follows: 1) Four factors emerged to account for the dimentional structure of the impression of the Korean catholic sister's in religious habits. Four factors involved purity, formality, potency, appearance. 2) The clothing types and hair styles had significant effect on purity, formality, potency, appearance. The clothing types had an effect on purity, formality and potency while the hair styles affected formality. 3) Perceiver's age influenced impressions formed by clothing and hair styles. Female high school students were affected by clothing and hair styles in formality, potency, appearance while female undergraduate students in purity, formality, potency. Therefore the religious habits and hair styles had significant effect on korean catholic women's impression of purity, formality, potency, appearance and impression formation was varied according to perceiver's age.
The purpose of this study is to examine the narrative correlation of nonverbal signs found in Charade. Charade, by using nonverbal signs, provides information about the character's psychological change, his or her relationship with others, and the places where they stay. The study of Charade, then, has to be approached considering not only the transmission of messages through nonverbal signs but also its signification. This study has analyzed the narrative and formation process of the subject that triggers the subject's activity by taking narrative semiotics to the film Carol (2015). As the status of women is represented by the mise-en-$sc{\grave{e}}ne$ at this time, this study aims to examine such a fact through Charade, which belongs to the realm of mise-en-$sc{\grave{e}}ne$. In this study, nonverbal signs that are used in Charade are drawn based on the nonverbal communication theory. The result of analyzing the texts showed that the use of interior decoration was outstanding in the process of expressing the status of female subjects. The use of gaze was noticeable in the process of expressing the acquisition of female subjects' power. Besides, it should be noted that the use of nonverbal signs such as accessories, territoriality, or gesture, was worthy of attention. It was confirmed that such nonverbal signs play an important role in the formation of subjects and configuration of narrative transformation.

This study examines the effects of clothing style and the order effect on impression formation. The instrument of this study consisted of response scales and stimuli. Fifty-one items of 7-point semantic differential scales, 9 items of demographic traits, and 4 items of subjective evaluation scales were developed. Stimuli were color pictures of a model wearing each of two clothing styles(mannish style, feminine style). The sample include 56 male and female subjects in their twenties and thirties. The experimental design was within-subject design and the half of the sample responded to the mannish style first and the other half responded to the feminine style first. Responses to the semantic differential scales were factor analyzed, and seven factors were identified: intellectuality, sensibility, activity, modesty, competence, display, keenness. There were significant differences between mannish style and feminine style in impression of wearer's age, job, and physical attractiveness as well as wearer's intellectuality and sensibility. It was revealed that the first impression and second impression of wearer's intellectuality, sensibility, modesty, competence, display were differed by the function of the order of stimuli shown to the subjects. Both primacy effect and recency effect of order effect were confirmed, and especially negativity effect was influenced prominently on impression formation.

The purposes of this study were 1) to extend the gestalt theory in an attempt to explain the effect of garment clues(formality, color) perceiver's gender, and contexts on impression formation of a male high school teacher, and 2) to found out high school students' attitude toward their teacher's school outfits. The experimental design was a quasi-experimental with full factorial design of 4 independent variables : 3(formality levels)x2(garment colors)x2(perceiver's gender)x2(con- texts) The experimental materials developed for the study were a set of stimuli and response scale. The stimuli consisted of 12 color photographs produced by CAD system and response scale constituted of 28 bipolar adjectives representing personal traits. In addition to the qualitative research was also performed. The subjects composed of 277 male and 291 female high school students' in Taejeon city and research was a between subject design. The data was analysed by factor analysis, ANOVA, Duncan's multiple range test. The major findings drawn from this study were as follows: 1. The perceivers impression were consisted of 4 major dimensions; evaluation, sociability, attractiveness, potency. 2. All the independent variables showed some significant impression effects on selected dimensions. Garment color indicate the most significant effects among the 4 independent variables and garment formality showed least effects. 3. The subjects of the study preferred suits(highest formality level garment) to semi-formal or casual outfits for male teacher's school outfits. In conclusion, 4 independent variables affected differently 4 major impression dimensions and garment formality and contexts showed significant interaction effect, this results supported the gestalt theory of impression formation.
As one of the casting plans to improve the scientific inquiry ability of the students, the aims of this study are to develop and apply a basic inquiry program for the inquiry subject of Seogwipo fossil formation, and analyze the basis inquiry ability of the students to show in the inquiry activity process actually. The results obtained in 5th grade 48 elementary school students of Seogwipo-city are as follows; Students executed observing activity using an appropriate senses such as senses of vision and touch, and showed the tendency which tries to observe the form overall rather than the partial form of the fossil formation. But the ability to utilize appropriately for predicting and inferring with the facts which could depend on observing activity was low. And we found out that the misconceptions influence on inquiry activity. Therefore, to help understanding deeper for the students' basic inquiry element, it is thought that a study of the various educational guidance ways is necessary to this. The teachers also have to study the various ways to induce the scientific conception through the application of proper teaching-learning for correction of misconceptions because misconceptions have an influence on inquiry activity together. If various inquiry programs considering the regional-specific characteristics are developed to cause students' interest, students would come to participate in inquiry activity aggressively a little more.
