The sensor nodes can be installed in the environment in which the temperature change is considerable, such as desert, urban, and data center. Particularly, because the output power becomes less than the targeted power if a temperature is increasing, link quality is degraded and packet losses are occurred. In order to compensate the temperature changes, existing schemes detect the change of the link quality between nodes and control transmission power through a series of feedback process. However, these approaches can cause heavy overhead by additional control packets. In this paper, we propose the T2PC(Temperature-aware Transmission Power Control) to keep up the link quality despite temperature variation. At each node, T2PC compensates the attenuated link quality by controlling the transmission power based on the local temperature measurement. In addition, the packet reception ratio can be improved with less control packets than ones required in existing transmission power control methods based on the feedback control.
Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are widely applied in monitoring and control of environment parameters. It is sometimes necessary to disseminate data through wireless links after they are deployed in order to adjust configuration parameters of sensors or distribute management commands and queries to sensors. Several approaches have been proposed recently for data dissemination in WSNs. However, none of these approaches achieves both high efficiency and low complexity simultaneously. To address this problem, cluster-tree based network architecture, which divides a WSN into hierarchies and clusters is proposed. Upon this architecture, data is delivered from base station to all sensors in clusters hierarchy by hierarchy. In each cluster, father broadcasts data to all his children with instantly decodable network coding (IDNC), and a novel scheme targeting to maximize total transmission gain (MTTG) is proposed. This scheme employs a new packet scheduling algorithm to select IDNC packets, which uses weight status feedback matrix (WSFM) directly. Analysis and simulation results indicate that the transmission efficiency approximate to the best existing approach maximum weight clique, but with much lower computational overhead. Hence, the energy efficiency achieves both in data transmission and processing.

The state assignment for a finite state machine greatly affects the delay, area, and testabilities of the sequential circuits. In order to minimize the dependencies among groups of state variables, therefore possibly to reduce the length and number of feedback cycles, a new state assignment technique based on m-block partition is introduced in this paper. After the completion of proposed state assignment and logic synthesis, partial scan design is performed to choose minimal number of scan flip-flops. Experiment shows drastic improvement in testabilities while preserving low area and delay overhead.

When adapting the transmitter to the channel state information(CSI), improved transmission is possible compared to the open loop system where no CSI is provided at the transmitter. However, since the perfect channel information is rarely available at the transmitter, the system design based on the partial CSI becomes an important factor. Especially, in mobile environments, the consideration for the outdated CSI should be applied for mitigating the performance degradation. In this paper, we propose a robust adaptive modulation and coding scheme for bit-interleaved coded orthogonal frequency division multiplexing over time-varying channels. With reasonable feedback overhead, the proposed scheme shows the enhanced performance by compensating for the outdated CSI due to Doppler spread. Simulation results confirm that the performance gain is achieved by applying an accurate BER estimation method.

The purpose of this study is about the search pattern of LINNET (Library Information Network System) OPAC users by transaction log, maintained by POSTECH(Pohang University of Science and Technology) Central Library, to provide feedback information of OPAC system design. The results of this study are as follows. First, for the period of this analysis, there were totally 11, 218 log-ins, 40, 627 transaction logs and 3.62 retrievals per a log-in. Title keyword was the most frequently used, but accession number, bibliographic control number or call number was very infrequently used. Second, 47.02% of OPAC, searches resulted in zero retrievals. Bibliographic control number was the least successful search. User displayed 2.01% full information and 64.27% local information per full information. Third, special or advanced retrieval features are very infrequently used. Only 22.67% of the searches used right truncation and 0.71% used the qualifier. Only 1 boolean operator was used in every 22 retrievals. The most frequently used operator is 'and (&)' with title keywords. But 'bibliographical control number (N) and accessionnumber (R) are not used at all with any operators. The causes of search failure are as follows. 1. The item was not used in the database. (15, 764 times : 79.42%). 2. The wrong search key was used. (3, 761 times : 18.95%) 3. The senseless string (garbage) was entered. (324 times : 1.63%) On the basis of these results, some recommendations are suggested to improve the search success rate as follows. First, a n.0, ppropriate user education and online help function let users retrieve LINNET OPAC more efficiently. Second, several corrections of retrieval software will decrease the search failure rate. Third, system offers right truncation by default to every search term. This methods will increase success rate but should considered carefully. By a n.0, pplying this method, the number of hit can be overnumbered, and system overhead can be occurred. Fourth, system offers special boolean operator by default to every keyword retrieval when user enters more than two words at a time. Fifth, system assists searchers to overcome the wrong typing of selecting key by automatic korean/english mode change.

This paper presents a power control scheme for OFDM based wireless communication systems in a multicell environment with co-channel interference which enables each system to achieve its target level of transmission bit rate. Generally, the optimal or near optimal power control scheme for multicarrier systems is Down to control the power level of each subcarrier in accordance with the associated channel status, which may be found in WF(waterfilling) and WF(iterative waterfilling) schemes. However, this requires the channel state information associated with every subchannel to be fed back from the receiver to its transmitter for successful power control. If the wireless channel exhibits relatively fast fading or the number of subcarriers is large, this may result in a considerable overhead. Here, in order to alleviate this problem, we propose a power control strategy for an OFDM systems maintaining the same power level over all the subcarriers. Also we prove its convergence, compare its complexity with that of the existing IWF algorithm, and examine its convergence characteristic through computer simulations.
CRC feature in a high-speed semiconductor memory devices such as DDR4/GDDR5 increases the data reliability. Conventional CRC method have a massive area overhead and long delay time. It leads to insufficient internal timing margins for CRC calculation. This paper, presents a CRC code method that provides error detection and a real-time matrix type CRC. If there are errors in the data, proposed method can alert to the system in a real-time manner. Compare to the conventional method(XOR 6 stage ATM-8 HEC code), the proposing method can improve the error detection circuits up to 60% and XOR stage delay by 33%. Also the real-time error detection scheme can improve the error detection speed to agerage 50% for the entire data bits(UI0~UI9).

This paper discusses how to effectively design a next-generation wireless communication system that can possibly provide very high data-rate transmissions and versatile quality services. In order to accommodate the sophisticated user requirements and diversified user environments of the next-generation systems, it should be designed to take an efficient and flexible structure for multiple access and resource allocation. In addition, the design should be optimized for cost-effective usage of resources and for efficient operation in a multi-cell environment. As orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) has turned out in recent researches to be one of the most promising multiple access techniques that can possibly meet all those requirements through efficient radio spectrum utilization, we take OFDMA as the basic framework in the next-generation wireless communications system design. So, in this paper, we focus on introducing an OFDMA-based downlink system design that employs the techniques of hybrid multiple access (HMA) and frequency group (FG) in conjunction with intra-frequency group averaging (IFGA). The HMA technique combines various multiple access schemes on the basis of OFDMA system, adopting the multiple access scheme that best fits to the given user condition in terms of mobility, service, and environment. The FG concept and IFGA technique help to reduce the feedback overhead of OFDMA system and the other-cell interference (OCI) problem by grouping the sub-carriers based on coherence band-widths and by harmonizing the channel condition and OCI of the grouped sub-carriers.
In-band wireless full-duplex is a promising technology that enables a wireless node to transmit and receive at the same time on the same frequency band. Due to the complexity of self-interference cancellation techniques, only base stations (BSs) are expected to be full-duplex capable while user terminals remain as legacy half-duplex nodes in the near future. In this case, two different nodes share a single subchannel, one for uplink and the other for downlink, which causes inter-node interference between them. In this paper, we investigate the joint problem of subchannel assignment and power allocation in a single-cell full-duplex orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) network considering the inter-node interference. Specifically, we consider two different scenarios: i) The BS knows full channel state information (CSI), and ii) the BS obtains limited CSI through channel feedbacks from nodes. In the full CSI scenario, we design sequential resource allocation algorithms which assign subchannels first to uplink nodes and then to downlink nodes or vice versa. In the limited CSI scenario, we identify the overhead for channel measurement and feedback in full-duplex networks. Then we propose a novel resource allocation scheme where downlink nodes estimate inter-node interference with low complexity. Through simulation, we evaluate our approaches for full and limited CSIs under various scenarios and identify full-duplex gains in various practical scenarios.

In this paper, we investigate the cognitive and cooperative communication scheme to improve the spectral efficiency in multiuser OFDMA systems using wireless relays. First, we propose the frame structure in which the efficient frequency reuse scheme with the cognitive technique is performed to increase the system throughput. And in the case where the THP (Tomlinson-Harashima preceding) is used for the elimination of interference from the relay, we derive the effective signal to noise ratio of the link largely affected by the channel quantization error. From the system level simulation results, it is shown that the proposed cognitive and cooperative communication scheme increases the overall system performance including the feedback overhead.
