Use of Tannery Wastes in the Diet of Broiler

  • Tannery waste contained 90.93% DM, 77.02% CP, 0.77% CF, 2.83% EE, 7.19% ash and 3,450 kcal ME/kg DM. A total of 144 day-old broiler chicks were divided into three dietary groups; $D_1$ (Containing 10% protein concentrate-PC), $D_2$ (Containing 5% PC+5% tannery waste-TW) and $D_3$ (Containing 10% TW) having 3 replicates of 16 chicks in each. The birds were fed broiler starter diet containing 22% CP, 3,000 kcal ME/kg and broiler finisher diet containing 21% CP, 3,100 kcal ME/kg up to 42 days of age, and meat yield traits were measured from the representative birds from each replication to asses the feasibility of using tannery waste in the diet of broiler. Feed intake, live weight, feed conversion efficiency and livability did not differ between diets (p>0.05) but the cost of production and profitability differed significantly (p<0.001). Profitability of D1, D2, and D3 diets were 2.98, 9.90 and 14.04 Taka/kg respectively. Diets did not affect on meat yield traits (p>0.05), except gizzard, shank and feather weight (p<0.01). Gizzard and shank weigh were improved with increasing level of tannery wastes in the diet, hence tannery waste can be used without any harmful effect in the broiler diet.

고온세균을 이용한 남은 음식물의 호기적 액상발효 (Aerobic Liquid Fermentation of Residual Food Waste by Thermophilic Bacteria)

  • 남은 음식물을 기질로 생균사료를 생산하기위하여 고온성 세균에 의한 호기적 액체 발효가 시도되었다. 토양이나 남은 음식물들로부터 11종의 고온성 세균이 $55^{\circ}C$에서의 진탕배양에 의해 분리되었다. 이들 분리균 들의 기질분해능을 평가하기위해 배양액 중에서의 ${\alpha}-amylase$ 와 protease효소역가를 측정 비교하였다. 이 결과 6종의 세균이 선택되었고 남은 음식물 기질 적응력을 높이기 위해 반복 배양을 실시하였다. 발효말기에서의 생균농도는 대부분 $3{\sim}7{\times}10^9/ml$에 이르렀다. 이들 중 B3, B6가 가장 높은 효소역가를 나타냈다. B3, B6, 그리고 분양받은 균주인 Bacillus Stearothermophillus를 2L-jar fermenter를 이용해 혼합발효시킨 결과발효개시 8시간 내에 생균수가 $1.4{\times}10^{10}/ml$에 이르렀다.

  • 본 연구에서는 산업폐수중 유기성분이 많은 식품, 펄프 공장폐수에 대하여 유기들을 영양원으로 하는 미생물을 배양시켜 유기성분을 경감시켜 폐수 정화를 목격으로 하였다. 한편 폐수정화에서 회수되는 균체는 단백질자원으로서의 사료화를 또 다른 목적으로 하고 일련의 실험을 통하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 펄프, 맥주, 빵효모, 주정공장폐수의 총당은 $1.4{\sim}1.54%$, 총 질소는 $0.25{\sim}0.35%$, BOD는 $400{\sim}25,000$, COD는 $500{\sim}28,000$, pH는 $3.8{\sim}7.0$이었고 주정공장 폐수가 BOD, COD는 가장 높았다. 2. 각 폐수중 세균총수는 $4{\times}10^4{\sim}1{\times}10^9$, 효모총수는 $2{\times}10^2{\sim}7{\times}10^4$이었다. 3. 폐수별로가 생장속도 우수한 균주로는 펄프공장폐수에서는 세균을, 맥주, 빵효모, 주정공장폐수에서는 효모를 선정 하였다. 4. 주정공장폐수정화에 최적인균주로서는 Candida curvata SAFM 70, Saccharomyces cerevisiae SAFM 1008을 선정하였다. 5. 주정중류폐액 및 중류잔사에 미생물성 cellulase, xylanase, pectinase를 처리함으로서 처리전보다 잔사량을 36% 감소시키면서 가용성화를 높여서 환원당량을 1.3배 증가시켰으므로 효모배양에 좋은 조건임을 확인하였다. 6. 효소처리한 주정증류제액에 선정된 효모를 배양하면서 배양최적조건을 확인하였다. a. Candida curvata SAFM 70 및 Saccharomyces cerevisiae SAFM 1008 2균주 모두 최적 pH는 5.0이었다. b. 2균주 모두 질소원으로는 요소, 질소농도로는 0.2%가 최적조건이었고 인삼염으로서는 $KH_2PO_4$, 그의 농도는 0,1% 그러고 Mg원으로서는 $MgSO_4$, 그의 농도는 0.02% 이었다. c. 2균주 모두 최적온도는 $30^{\circ}C$이었고 통기, 교반효과는 증식도에 크게 영향끼침을 알었다. 7. 종효모의 생포수는 적어도 $1.8{\times}f10^5/ml$ 이상이어야 증식이 순조로움을 알었다. 8. 미생들 효소를 처리한 주정증류폐액에 선정효모를 배양하여 건조균체를 생산하는데는 Saccharomyces cerevisiae SAFM 1008 보다 Candida curvata SAFM 70이 우수하였다. 9. 미생물성효소를 처리한 주정증류폐액 1000ml 당 Saccharomyces cerevisiae SAFM 1008은 16g, Candida curvata SAFM 70은 17.6g의 건조균체를 해수할 수 있었다. 주정증류공장폐수의 BOD 제거율은 전자의 효모에서 46a, 후자의 효모에서 52%이었다. 10. 주정증류공장폐수에서 생산된 효모균체는 단백질 함량이 $46{\sim}$52%임으로 사료용효모로서 적당함을 확인하였다.

음식물쓰레기 단독 퇴비화 및 음식물쓰레기와 하수 슬러지의 혼합 퇴비화에 따른 퇴비화시설의 운전특성 (Operating Characteristics of Composting Facility during Composting of Food Waste and Co-composting of Food Waste and Sewage Sludge)

  • This study was performed to assets the operating characteristics of food waste composting and co-composting (food waste + sewage sludge) at a compelling facility. The facility was being operated successfully without being affected by kind of composting feed materials. Partial anaerobic condition was detected during food waste composting and co-com-posting, but these two composting systems were proven to be operated successfully under aerobic condition from the monitoring results of $O_2$, volatile solids reduction rate, temperature, and other parameters. The conductivity and chloride concentrations of compost were gradually increased during two composting periods, but the conductivity and chloride concentrations of co-compelling indicated lower values than those of food waste composting at final point(40 m). As a result, co-composting was turned out to be more desirable than food waste composting, considering salt problem. High correlations ($R^2$= 0.9265 for food waste composting and $R^2$= 0.9685 for co-composting) between CEC and volatile organic matter were found. Quality of composts produced from two composting process satisfied Korean heavy metal standard.

남은 음식물 및 유기성 폐자원을 활용한 오리사료의 제조 및 그 가치평가 (Utilization of food and Organic Wastes for Duck Feeds and Evaluation of Their Feeding Values)

  • An experiment was conducted to evaluate feeding values of food and other organic wastes, and to determine their dietary effects on performance and carcass yield in ducks. A total of 156 meat type ducklings at the age of 25 days were housed in 12 pens and assigned to 4 treatments, in which the birds were fed for 21 days. One of 4 diets, commercial duck feed, raw food waste (RFW), fermented food waste(FFW) and mixture of 50% RFW and 50% FFW (R+FFW). Feed consumption was significantly higher (p<0.05) in the RFW groups. Body weight gain showed no significant differences between the control and other treatments. The feed consumption ratio was significantly higher in the RFW groups (p<0.05) than that of the other groups. Carcass yield was significantly higher in the R+FFW groups (p<0.05) than the other groups. The weight of liver per live body weight showed significant differences among the treatment groups (p<0.05). The length of intestine was significantly different from those of the treated groups(p<0.05).

사료화 및 퇴비화 공정 유래 음폐수의 성상 비교 연구 (Characteristics of Food Waste Leachate Derived from Feed Supplement- and Compost-Producing Facilities)

  • 본 연구에서는 수도권매립지 반입 음폐수에 대한 성상분석을 통하여 음폐수의 일반적인 특성을 살펴보고, 음폐수 유래 공정(사료화, 퇴비화)에 따른 음폐수 성상 특징을 비교하였다. 음폐수는 고농도의 유기물을 함유한 폐수이며 습식 혐기소화가 가능한 범위의 함수율을 나타내었다. 음폐수는 산성을 띠며 비교적 높은 세부 성상(탄수화물, 단백질, 지방, 에탄올, 아세트산, 프로피온산 등)의 변화율을 나타냈다. 사료화 및 퇴비화 공정 유래 음폐수 성상을 비교한 결과, 평균값 기준으로 사료화가 다소 낮은 농도를 보였으나 분산분석에 따른 통계적 차이는 유의성이 없었다.

Effect of Dietary Inclusion of Dehydrated Food Waste Products on Taiwan Native Chicken (Taishi No. 13)

  • The effect of dehydrated food waste product (DFWP) inclusion in diets of Taiwan native chickens on the growth performance, carcass traits, clinical blood chemistry and nutrient digestibility was investigated with 320 male Taishi Native Chickens (Taishi No. 13). They were randomly allocated into four levels of DFWP inclusion (0, 5, 10, or 20%) treatment. Each treatment had 80 chickens with four replicates. At 15 weeks of age, 8 chickens were selected from each group for the nutrient digestibility trial. The results showed that body weight gain during the 0 to 4 week period decreased as the feed intake and feed conversion rate (FCR) increased linearly with increasing level of DFWP inclusion. During the 4 to 8 week period, greater body weight gains were recorded for the birds on the 5% DFWP inclusion level than for the control (p<0.05). During 8 to16 weeks, the feed intake and FCR increased linearly (p<0.05). Interestingly too, results of the carcass analysis showed that DFWP inclusion up to 20% in the diet significantly decreased the relative abdominal fat weight but increased the relative proventriculus and gizzard weights of the birds. However, other carcass parameters, meat quality and sensory scores were not significantly influenced by the dietary DFWP inclusion levels (p>0.05). Higher serum aspartate aminotransferase, ${\gamma}$-glutamyltransferase activity and crude protein digestibility, and lower gross energy digestibility were observed in the 20% DFWP group compared to the control (p<0.05). Dietary DFWP inclusion was inappropriate during the 0 to 4 week period. During 4 to 8 weeks, there was no adverse effect on chicken performance in the 20% group. There was no disadvantage on carcass properties and in the meat panel test. This result would not affect consumer determination.
