The effects of H2O and residue SO2 in flue gases on the activity of the Fe/zeolite catalysts for low-temperature NH3-SCR of NO were investigated. And the addition effect of Mn, Zr and Ce to Fe/zeolite for low-temperature NH3-SCR of NO in the presence of H2O and SO2 was investigated. Fe/zeolite catalysts were prepared by liquid ion exchange and promoted Fe/zeolite catatysts were prepared by liquid ion exchange and doping of Mn, Zr and Ce by incipient wetness impregnation. Zeolite NH4-BEA and NH4-ZSM-5 were used to adapt the SCR technology for mobile diesel engines. The catalysts were characterized by BET, X-ray diffraction (XRD), SEM/EDS, TEM/EDS. The NO conversion at 200 ℃ over Fe/BEA decreased from 77% to 47% owing to the presence of 5% H2O and 100 ppm SO2 in the flue gas. The Mn promoted MnFe/BEA catalyst exhibited NO conversion higher than 53% at 200 ℃ and superior to that of Fe/BEA in the presence of H2O and SO2. The addition of Mn increased the Fe dispersion and prevented Fe aggregation. The promoting effect of Mn was higher than Zr and Ce. Fe/BEA catalyst exhibited good activity in comparison with Fe/ZSM-5 catalyst at low temperature below 250 ℃.

Nitrous oxide (N2O) is one of the six greenhouse gases, and it is essential to reduce N2O by showing a global warming potential (GWP) equivalent to 310 times that of carbon dioxide (CO2). Selective catalytic reduction (SCR) is a technology that converts ammonia into harmless N2 and H2O by using ammonia as a reducing agent to remove NOx, one of the air pollutants; the process also produces high denitrification efficiency. In this study, the Fe-BEA catalyst was steam-treated at 100 ℃ for 2 h before Fe ion exchange in the fixed bed reactor in order to investigate the effect of the steam-treated Fe-BEA catalyst on the NH3-SCR reaction. NH3-SCR reaction test of synthesized catalysts was performed at WHSV = 180 h-1, 370 to 400 ℃ in the fixed bed reactor. The Fe-BEA(100) catalyst steam-treated at 100 ℃ showed a somewhat higher activity than the Fe-BEA catalyst at 370 to 390 ℃. The catalysts were characterized by BET, ICP, NH3-TPD, H2-TPR, and 27Al MAS NMR in order to determine the cause affecting NH3-SCR activity. The H2-TPR result confirmed that the Fe-BEA(100) catalyst had a higher reduction of isolated Fe3+ than the Fe-BEA catalyst, and that the steam treatment increased the amount of isolated Fe3+ as an active species, thus increasing the activity.

The $NH_3$-selective catalytic reduction (SCR) reaction of NO with excess of oxygen were systematically investigated over Cu-zeolite and Fe-zeolite catalysts. Cu-zeolite and Fe-zeolite catatysts to adapt the SCR technology for mobile diesel engines were prepared by liquid ion exchange and incipient wetness impregnation of $NH_4$-BEA and $NH_4$-ZSM-5 zeolites. The catalysts were characterized by BET, XRD, FE-TEM (field emission transmission electron microscopy) and SEM/EDS. The SCR examinations performed under stationary conditions showed that the Cu-exchanged BEA catalyst revealed pronounced performance at low temperatures of $200{\sim}250^{\circ}C$. With respect to the Fe-zeolite catalyst, the Cu-zeolite catalyst showed a higher activity in the SCR reaction at low temperatures below $250^{\circ}C$. BEA zeolite based catalyst exhibited good activity in comparison with ZSM-5 zeolite based catalyst at low temperatures below $250^{\circ}C$.
The effect of heat-treatment temperature on the activity of catalysts was studied by investigating $N_2O$ decomposition reaction in Fe ion-supported BEA Zeolite. As a result of $N_2O$ decomposition reaction experiment, $N_2O$ decomposition activity significantly decreased as heat-treatment temperature of Fe/BEA catalyst increased. the shape and size of the particles of Fe/BEA catalyst following the rise of heat-treatment temperature did not display a significant change. But following the rise of the heat-treatment temperature, its surface area was significantly reduced. Also it was confirmed that as the heat-treatment temperature rose, the crystallization of ${\beta}$ structure was greatly reduced. And as heat-treatment temperature rose, while SiO structure either increased or did not exhibit much change, the structure of Fe bonded with lattice structure was speculated to decrease. From the stated results, it was concluded that the increase of heat-treatment temperature became the cause of the declined activity of catalysts by destruction of its ${\beta}$ structure of bonding aluminium and Fe atoms.

The influence of catalytic activity on Fe loading methods over Fe/BEA zeolite catalyst in the simultaneous reduction of $N_2O/NO$ has been studied. The Fe/BEA zeolite catalysts were prepared by ion exchange and impregnation. Catalytic tests were carried out in the selective catalytic reduction using ammonia as a reductant to identify the activity of prepared catalysts. The results show that the ion exchanged catalyst exhibited higher NO and $N_2O$ conversions than the impregnated catalysts did. To investigate the difference in catalytic activity, we performed various analyses such as XRD, $H_2-TPR$, $O_2-TPD$ and XPS. It is considered that the increase in the activity of the ion exchange catalyst is due to improved reducibility and increased oxygen desorption rate. In addition, the ion exchange catalyst was found through the XPS analysis that $Fe^{2+}$, which is related to the catalytic activity, is formed about 1.6 times more than the impregnated catalyst.
In hydrogen production for fuel cell by reforming city-gas, sulfur compounds, odorant in city-gas, are detrimental to reforming catalyst and fuel cell electrodes. We prepared metal salt impregnated ${\beta}-zeolite(BEA)$ to remove sulfur compound in city-gas by adsorption. The sulfur breakthrough adsorption capacity was changed depending on the concentration and species of metal salt. $AgNO_3$ impregnated BEA showed the highest sulfur breakthrough capacity among adsorbents used in this experiment(41.1 mg/g). But metal salt impregnated BEA such as $Ni(NO_3)_2/BEA$, $Fe(NO_3_)_3/BEA$, $Co(NO_3)_2/BEA$ showed a certain amount of sulfur adsorption capacity comparable to $AgNO_3/BEA$. Adsorption temperature effect, desorption study, and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis revealed that the dominant interaction between metal impregnated adsorbent and sulfur compounds was not chemisorption but physisorption.
In this study, H-type beta zeolites (BEA) having various metals were used as the adsorbent for the removal of sulfur containing odorants. The different adsorbents containing single or bimetals were utilized to investigate the performance in the individual adsorption of TBM and THT odorants or in the competitive adsorption between them by using a continuous adsorptive bed system. The result shows that the pure H-type BEA zeolite exhibited the highest adsorption capacity for TBM compound, but the higher amount of THT was removed and adsorbed on a HBEA adsorbent having Fe, Pd metal and ZnO oxide. In the case of bimetal containing adsorbents, Cu-Zn/HBEA and Fe-Mo/HBEA showed a higher adsorption capacity for TBM.

$NH_3$-SCR has high NOx removal efficiency approximately 80~90%. Recently, the copper or iron ion-exchanged zeolite catalysts are widely used as automobile SCR catalysts. In this paper, the effect of the space velocity, temperature of reaction and $NO_2$ addition on the $NH_3$-SCR reaction were studied using various zeolite SCR catalysts. The test was conducted with small sized fresh catalysts in a laboratory fixed-bed flow reactor system using simulated gases. It is found that the activity of the BEA is better than MFI. It seems that three-dimensional framework and a wide pore entrance of BEA enhances the SCR activity. It is also found that low temperature activity of Cu-zeolites was better than Fe-zeolites. Once $NO_2$ was added, the NOx conversion activity of the Cu-zeolite was slightly enhanced, whereas remarkable improvement was achieved by Fe-zeolite.
A $\mu-oxo$ diiron(III) complex and two bis( $\mu-alkoxo)$ diiron(III) complexes with biomimetic tripodal ligand containing mixed N/O donor atoms were synthesized using a mononuclear iron(III) complex as starting material. Depending on the amounts and kinds of bases used, we obtained various kinds of diiron (III) complexes. The reaction of $[$Fe^{III}$(Hbbea)Cl_2]Cl$, 1, with an equivalent amount of $KO_2$ or NaOAc produced $[$Fe^{III}$_2O(Hb-bea)_2Cl_2]Cl_2$, 2. An additional equivalent amount of NaOBz or NaOAc converts complex 2 to complex 3 or complex 4 depending on the base used. The addition of two equivalent amounts of NaOBz orNaOAc directly converts complex 1 to $[$Fe^{III}$_2(bbea)_2(OBz)_2]Cl_2$, 3, or $[$Fe^{III}$_2(bbea)_2(OAc)_2]Cl_2$, 4, depending on the base used. Crystal data are as follows: [$Fe^{III}_2O(Hbbea)_2Cl_2]Cl_2$, 2: monoclinic space group $$P2_1/n$$, a = 8.421 (1) $\AA$, b = 18.416 (2) $\AA$, c = 13.736 (1) $\AA$, $\beta$ = 104.870 $(7)^{\circ}$, V = 2058.9 (4) $\AA^3$, Z = 2, R1 = 0.0469 and wR2 = 0.1201 for reflections with I > 2 ${\sigma}$(I).

The artificial lightweight aggregate was manufactured using stone-dust(SD) and bottom ash(BA) from crushed aggregate manufacture process and thermoelectric power plant respectively. The properties of artificial lightweight aggregate according to mixing ratio of SD and BA was that the density was decreased and the absorption was increased with increasing BA content, because bottom ash was contained many unburned carbon and $Fe_2O_3$ which generates gas by oxidation during a sintering process. The appropriate mixing ratio of SD and BA was estimated at about 5:5. The properties of artificial lightweight aggregate according to addition flux admixture was that it had lower density with increasing of $Na_2SO_4$ content. In this study, we could developed the artificial lightweight aggregate as the bulk density was $1.52g/cm^3$ and water absorption 7.3% under the condition that mixing ratio of SD:BA was 5:5, $Na_2SO_4$, $Fe_2O_3$ 1%, sintering temperature $1,150^{\circ}C$ and sintering time 15mins.
